About this property

Flint Hills Lake House

Tucked high in a canyon overlooking Tuttle Creek Lake, Bluff Cottage is the perfect place to unwind. Surrounded by trees, the house is private and tranquil. Have your morning coffee outside overlooking the lake while a lovely breeze blows, then walk down the hill to the lakeshore and dip your toes in the water, hunt for fossils (the shore is full of them!), or forage for driftwood.
The interior of the home is bright, clean, colorful, and fun. The large, well-appointed kitchen is a perfect place to cook up whatever you fancy. The roomy and bright living and dining area offers gorgeous views of the lake, plenty of seating, Roku smart tv, dvd player, vintage pinball machine, and lots of games and books. Oh, and the internet is super high speed fiber-optic broadband, so you can seemlessly stream without buffering!
The master bedroom has a super comfy queen bed and plenty of storage for your personal items. The second bedroom contains bunk beds designed for adults, storage, and a vaulted ceiling.
The bathroom is small but stylish, with a tub and a very powerful shower.
Located only 25 minutes from Manhattan, the drive out to the house through the northern Flint Hills is so beautiful! Stop at the dam or one of the scenic overlooks to take in the splendor of the prairie.
PLEASE NOTE: The last 8 minutes of the drive are on a well maintained dirt road. T canyon road can be quite rugged. A high clearance vehicle is recommended. Low to the ground vehicles may bottom out.

Sound carries in the canyon so we require that all renters agree to keeping outside noise to a minimum and require a quiet period from 10pm to 8am .
We have a security camera facing the driveway. Do not move or cover it. Due to the remoteness of the house it is the only way we can monitor the land.
Due to dry conditions and winds, outdoor fires are prohibited at the property.

Tuttle Creek Lk Hideout

Out of the way but private, this guest house provided all the essentials that we needed for our trip. Internet was remarkably fast despite the secluded location. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well maintained. Overall, this location has value and good amenities.

Quiet and Cozy

Really enjoyed our stay! Amenities were above and beyond my expectations. Only complaints I have would be lots of bulbs flickering throughout the house and getting hot water was an issue first night stay.

Nice Getaway from the Crowd

This is a very comfortable lake house in a quiet rural area. It would be ideal for a getaway where you bring in your groceries and just stay for a week enjoying nature and the views.

Nice, quiet

Quiet, secluded home. Decor was fun, and kitchen was well stocked with necessities. Bottled water that was available was appreciated. Internet service was good.

Great place to escape the hustle & bustle!

Being off the beaten path and so peaceful was exactly what we needed! We took our side by side which was nice to have since you are up the hill quite a distance from the water and boat ramp so was nice to have to take a drive around the area and back and forth to the lake. Not too far of a drive up to Olsburg to grab a bite at Bricks if you don't feel like cooking. We will be back!

Great view and a groovy stay!

We booked this house for the weekend to see family and go to a football game! The property is very remote, but Hollie was upfront about the location and how to get to it! Hollie was also very responsive and always answered our questions promptly. The space was very cute, with an amazing view of Tuttle and we loved the '70's vibe and all the vintage decor! My husband also appreciated the fast internet! If you are looking for a quiet but fun place to stay on the lake, we definitely recommend this property!

Perfect for a summer weekend away!

We loved staying here for our girls weekend! Tons of space for hanging out, eating, and cooking! The view was amazing. The privacy was great. Quick and easy lake access. It was also the easiest VRBO I have stayed at - no complicated entry and cleanup was simple, also checkout wasn’t until noon which was a great bonus!

Quiet Great View

We rented this so we didn't have to stay in Manhattan. I was a little disappointed on the fact we had to drive on that much gravel. Don't let the outside fool you the inside is much better. We couldn't have a fire because it was so dry. Over all I would stay here again not bad at all. Love the decor.

Nice place - very secluded

Rental was just as described. Plenty of space for us and we appreciated the bottle water because it was SO HOT! Definitely off the beaten path. The peace and quiet was nice but not super convenient if you are travelling back and forth from Manhattan. Great communication with owner. Would stay here again, just maybe not on a KSU game weekend. :)

Great guys getaway!

The home is very clean and was spacious. There were lots of cups, glasses and other kitchen items available. The beds were comfortable. It was decorated with a variety of unusual items. We hung out on the patio overlooking the lake and at night, there were a billion stars. No light pollution and the only sounds were the owls and the occasional dog bark. We saw deer and other wildlife, too. It is well off the beaten path, but not difficult to find if you follow the directions. Wi-Fi was solid. A very nice rental.

Although not a native Kansas, I am proud to call Kansas home. I love the open spaces, rolling hills, friendly people, and charming towns. I make my home in Lawrence, KS, where I run a community arts center, but absolutely love to get away to the lake any chance I get.

Why they chose this property

We were so fortunate to come upon this property. It is rare to find such a wooded and private place with such great views and lake access. We fell in love immediately.
