About this property

Charming country accommodations at Brookside Acres/horse and rider accommodation

Brookside Acres offers the ultimate in country accommodations and 170 private acres of easy to challenging trail heads that wind into the solitude of nature in all seasons. Trails will take you onto additional thousands of acres of private timber and state land. Plan on encountering wildlife but not people or noisy machines. Slip on your snowshoes or hiking boots at the back door and take off for an hour or half the day. Backcountry cross country at your level of expertise or snowshoe on ungroomed trails. Bring you own horse and explore the back woods. However you choose to spend your day, you're sure to feel rejuvenated and rested in the 'Roost' at Brookside.

Your extra large private hot tub provides the perfect place to warm up under the skies on a snowy day, stargaze at night and rejuvenate and relax after a long hike or ski.

You may also enjoy skiing at any three ski resorts within 90 minutes of Brookside: 49 Degrees North, Mt. Spokane, and Schweitzer Ski Resort. Silver Mountain is a bit further. Stoneridge Golf and Recreation Resort is a ten-minute drive and offers year around pool and hot tub. You'll find many other golf courses for summer use in our area.

We offer fine furnishings including comfortable king-sized beds, two full bathrooms and complete kitchen and laundry. The living room is equipped with a 36in HD TV, with TVO Direct TV and DVD machine. Enveloped by farm and timberland, you'll likely be wakened each morning by our friendly rooster, Little Dude, and lulled to sleep by the sounds of the nearby creek, horses nickering and coyotes crying in the distance.

Brookside Acres is located at the far west end of Blanchard Valley and, since 1939, has been a dairy farm, a cattle ranch, has been logged numerous times as has the surrounding area. Owner, Bonnie Jones, is taking a more conservative approach, continuing to raise hay for sale and her own horses. Guests are welcome to bring their own horses and ride surrounding trails.

In the foothills of the Selkirks, Mt. Spokane at 5400’ is the highest nearby mountain. Brookside Acres sits at 2700’ and is accessed from the west over a small pass which elevation equals that of Snoqualmie Pass in the Washington Cascades. You’ll normally find the pass enshrouded with snow through April. From the east, Brookside lies six miles from the town of Blanchard, Idaho.

We are certain that you’ll enjoy and prize these surroundings as we do.

Great Place to Stay!
We loved staying at this beautiful little spot. The Hosts were great and it was a beautiful place to stay. We went to Silverwood Water Park during the day but the best part of my vacation was staying in this great spot.

Delightful Respite
We were greeted graciously by Bonnie. Our stay was filled with rest and comfort. Brookside Acres is a beautiful property, horses grazing nearby, chickens and roosters chatting, as they do. Our respite here was just what our family needed. Bonnie and Larry are attentive and welcoming hosts.

Peaceful Getaway, Wonderful Hostess
We were in town for a wedding and didnt spend a lot of time in the unit, but the time we did was wonderful! The hostess, Bonnie, is the best! She sent directions ahead of time which were a blessing as we didnt get to the property until dark and it was VERY dark. Without her instructions.... The power went out briefly the morning after we arrived and she brought a camp stove and coffee over for us and we had a wonderful visit with her. If you are not a rooster fan, bring earplugs! :-) Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Nice cozy atmosphere!
My husband and I stayed with friends at this cozy little house in February. The property is very beautiful with Rollinghills and a nice trail that we hiked.. The horses are also beautiful! The house had a hot tub which we enjoyed tremendously. We had everything we needed. The satellite TV was a little bit hard to figure out but Bonnie helped us do that. She is a gem! The only other thing I would recommend is that the main bathroom have an added Shower rod and curtain. The tub is very nice and large however I think most people would enjoy a shower instead. There is a hand held shower however. We just showered in the other bathroom that was in the master suite. Cell phone signal is very spotty although we could make a call and text just outside the door with cricket. Our friends had Verizon and had no service.

Amazing property and host
Although I didn't actually get to me the host because of being so busy with a wedding near by. Mt wife did meet her and said she was very friendly and helpful. Hopefully the wedding party and I didn't keep her up with our noise at night.

Unique little farmhouse!
We had a fantastic time on our four day adventure here! Bonnie was such a great host! Well the location of the house is a little rural, yet it was perfect for our adventure up to the area. There are trails all around and great if you have horses and want to ride in the hills behind the house. The children loved petting and feeding the horses and Bonnie’s dogs were great! Jonesie is so cute you’ll want to take her home! If you’re looking for an adventure for your family working on a farm a bit this is also a great place as there’s always work to be done on a farm and Bonnie can certainly put you to work! One thing to note is that cellular service is not that great up here which was a blessing for my family as we were able to detach a bit. Overall, this is a great place and we really enjoyed our stay!

Piece of Heaven Here on Earth
Bonnie and Larry created Brookside with love and it shows. We were greeted by two furry pups who became or best friends! The Roost is decorated beautifully, bedrooms are spacious and everything was very clean. The comforters kept us warm and cozy. The laundry was very appreciated…not returning with dirty clothes after vacation. We enjoyed the back deck which overlooks the field where the horses graze. The chickens and rooster were quite entertaining as well. We also saw wild turkeys and quail. Pretty cool! Bonnie…what can we say about Bonnie? Definitely not enough! She is a gracious hostess and we enjoyed hearing her story and getting to know her. We all talked about how much we will miss our conversations in the morning and evening. Bonnie, you made our college friends vacation even more special! Thank you! If you are looking for a place of peace, quiet, beauty, look no further…you have found it at Brookside.

Bonnie is the sweetest hostess you could ask for. Her fully appointed guest home was perfect.
The guest home was immaculately clean and inviting. We slept great and enjoyed the country setting with abundant wildlife. The location allowed us to explore Priest Lake, Sandpoint, Couer d’Alene & Spokane. Our daughter enjoyed a trail ride with Bonnie too, which was so generous of her to offer! We left refreshed, relaxed and blessed to have spent a week on the farm. Thank you so very much!

Relaxing and beautiful
Bonnie’s place was just what we were looking for! Quiet, wonderful property. The roost had everything we needed for our stay and was very cozy. We loved seeing the horses, and other animals on the farm. We enjoyed hiking/snow shoeing on the trails and visiting near by Mt. Spokane State Park. Great for a family, girls weekend, or couples. Such a beautiful area and great hostess. Thank you.

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Highly Recommend!!!
The property is absolutely amazing and peaceful! We stayed here while on vacation taking the kids to Silverwood, so we didn't end up using the pool or hot tub. Bonnie is super sweet and they were very accommodating! We called early on the day of check in as we didn't want to leave our bags in our trucks at the park and they let us drop them off early which was awesome so we didn't have to worry. Bonnie also brought all the kids out to meet the horses and was incredibly sweet! We definitely recommend and plan on going back!
