Welcome to Golden View! Get ready to slow down and relax! Our waterfront home offers beautiful bay views, spacious deck, sun room, and private pier for all your bayside enjoyment.
The home is a 3800 sqft house located on 3 acres in the small town of Hallieford, VA in Mathews County. With a population of a mere 257 people in Hallieford, you’re sure to find the serenity you’ve been looking for.
The second you pull in front of the home and onto the gravel drive, you’ll see the gorgeous home and white split rail fence. The picturesque setting brims with small town charm. Once you pull forward in the driveway and catch your first glimpse of the sun glinting off the bay, you know you’re about to have the most amazing, relaxing bayside vacation!
Welcome home! Let’s dive into what the house offers! The house is accessed through the front door with a keyless entry code you’ll be provided. There is an accessible attached garage which houses various outdoor gear to use. The detached garage will remain locked and is inaccessible.
The house sleeps up to ten (10) people in five bedrooms; with the potential to sleep an additional four (4) more on the pullout sofas in the sunroom. The main room downstairs has an attached walk-in shower and jetted tub. The 4 bedrooms upstairs share a tub/shower. We do have some “smart” amenities in the home to use should you want. We have an Alexa alarm clock in each bedroom so everyone can listen to their own music and set their own alarms. We have phone charging cables in each bedroom as well; for both Android and Apple with wireless Qi charging on the kitchen island. We also have an Echo Show in the living room entry to act as a concierge for you during your stay. Nearby restaurants, grocery stores, things to do, as well as the Wi-Fi and emergency contact information will be easily accessible at your fingertips.
The enclosed sunroom, lined with windows, includes a dining table with seating for six (6). There is an adjoining dining room with a table with seating for six (6) along with four (4) island bar stools. You can continue to enjoy the view of the Bay looking out the windows while dining.
The full kitchen is equipped with a gas range, a large-capacity microwave, and a full-sized refrigerator and freezer. Other useful appliances include a toaster, a kettle, as well as a single-cup coffee maker that takes grounds or k-cups. The kitchen is outfitted with almost anything you need to make a family meal- dinnerware, pots/pans, colander, mixings bowls, and baking sheets as well. An island for additional prep completes the kitchen and offers a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a workspace to inspect the day’s beach finds. A gas grill sits just outside on the deck, ready to prepare the day’s catch or the fresh steak and seafood you picked up from the nearby seafood market in Mathews.
The living room enjoys a new 55” smart TV. Slip into the large leather sofa and log in to your favorite streaming apps or enjoy the views of the Chesapeake and Hills Bay. In the cooler months, feel free to make use of the gas fireplace to stay nice and cozy!
High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the home and ensures strong coverage and connection for all your connectivity and streaming needs. Throughout the house you’ll find games, crossword books, and even coloring books for both the adults and children enjoying their stay. Also, located throughout the entire house you will find a large number of books of all genres and for all age groups.
For your convenience, there is a full-size washer and dryer in the house as well. Feel free to utilize the provided laundry detergent and dryer sheets as needed. Nobody likes packing wet swimsuits… 😉
Next to and inside the shed in the backyard you find all the things you’ll need to make use of the private beach and the beautiful bay water. Inflatable tubes, beach chairs, sand castle toys, kayaks, boogie boards, paddleboards, cornhole and life jackets. Inside the garage you’ll find fishing poles, crab traps and more available at no additional cost.
When you’re ready to go down and enjoy the water, walk down to your private sand beach or out on your private dock. Make sure to grab a paddleboard or a kayak to explore a little further. Drop a fishing line in the water with a provided fishing pole or pop a provided crab pot off the dock and see if you can catch dinner! Enjoy the day on the water and just relax. The private amenities offer a relaxing opportunity to swim, sunbathe or just chill. Outdoor amenities include: a fire pit, propane grill on the deck, wood/charcoal grill pit on the beach, with ample patio furniture to make the outside space the desired hang out. The outdoor shower and bathroom make it easy to be outside enjoying the sandy beach and not worry about bringing the outdoors in with you 😊. When you are ready to come in; enjoy the beautiful views from the climate controlled/enclosed sunroom.
Looking for more adventure? Wander any of the side roads and end up at a beach, come across an old cemetery or historical monument, or even sightsee the glorious old southern homes. If you’re a history buff, history abounds. Between Jamestown settlement, Yorktown, Williamsburg and all the historical parks in between, you’re covered.
Make a pit stop at any of the antique stores along the way. Take an afternoon and drive down to Yorktown (a mere 45-minute drive), farther south to Virginia Beach, or for a full day adventure, drive around the Bay (or take your boat across!) to Cape Charles, even up to Chincoteague & Assateague to see the wild ponies and all the little seaside towns in between.
Need a little more of an adrenaline rush before heading back to island life? No need to worry. Historic Williamsburg and Busch Gardens is barely an hour away. Take in all the rides, coasters, and delicious food before coming back to beach time.
Attention boaters – do you have a low draft boat (sub-18”) that you want to bring on vacation with you? Contact us to learn more about launching and docking the boat at the private pier.
While we want everyone to enjoy the home and the beautiful location, preference will be given to week long rentals in the summer months.
More than anything, our hope is for you to leave Golden View relaxed and rejuvenated with many wonderful memories made and already planning your next trip back. If there is any issue you face while you are staying at the home, we have friends nearby to assist. You’ll be able to talk to a real neighbor and not have to deal with a property management company.
Please note. Since we do not live here full-time, we do have outdoor security cameras at the entry/exit doors and garage doors.
**November through March, the groundskeeper will be residing in the loft above the detached garage.**
