About this property

The Canary is a small home with an open floor plan located directly on the Lake of Egypt in Creal Springs, IL. Perfect for a small family or couple’s retreat. Swim safely in the quiet cove with no thru traffic, enjoy morning coffee on the perch or in the spa overlooking the lake surrounded by trees and local wildlife. Many nearby attractions including hiking, fishing, boating, wineries, and much more.

The space
Entire house, keyless entry, free uncovered parking, access to dock and swimming area, paddle boat and 4 kayaks, spa tub. Pontoon boat rental available to qualified renters, although we do not rent it on the major summer holiday weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and boat is in winter storage from November through March depending on weather.

The Canary

My wife and i were looking for somewhere stay for a weekend and this place checked all the boxes. The host was very responsive to my questions and the check-in process was very easy. If you are looking for a place to stay in Lake of Egypt look no further.

Amazing view and great staycation

From the moment that I booked the Canary, Erin had been great with communication. The property offered a great view of the lake and docks through its giant windows and doors on the main level. The property was easy to find and was super clean upon arrival. This is a great place to stay whether traveling from far away or just having a staycation like we did. Very relaxing and will definitely book again.

Anniversary Getaway

This was a beautiful lakehouse to relax and unwind in after a day of hiking and biking. It's in close proximity to wineries, shopping and outdoor activities while remaining secluded with a beautiful view.

Nice house for 2

The property was very clean and decorated nicely. It is the perfect size for a couple. Lots of cooking supplies and condiments. The only thing that would have made our stay easier would be a keypad on the back door. That would eliminate the need to go around to the front door when coming back from the lake. We did not use the hot tub.

Great stay

This is a beautiful property, very clean and very quiet. It was well stocked with all the accesories needed. The property mangers were fantastic and very accommodating, we are so glad we picked this property for our vacation. We will most definatly being staying here again.

Beautiful kitchen

Outstanding sleep number bed, super clean and well appointed kitchen. As a wooded area, we saw plenty of bugs outside, but not a single one inside! Would definitely stay again.

Family vacation

Canary on the lake

We enjoyed our stay at the house. There was plenty to do from kayaks to hot tub and grilling, etc. Would stay there again.

Nice Getaway Property

My husband and I had a really nice time at The Canary. The property was very cute and had everything we needed for the weekend. I appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook with and there were plenty of towels and linens provided. I also noticed there was a nice stock of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash if you were to forget anything at home. The Canary was also stocked with extra toilet paper, trash bags, and cleaning supplies as well as full access to the washer/dryer. My husband and I enjoyed lounging on the couch and watching tv as well as watching the sunset from the hot tub. If I were to play another trip to this area, I would stay here again.

Awesome place.

This is a very nice place to stay. Loved the boat dock and the swings on it. Loved the hot tub and the location of the hot tub. Inside was very nice and easy access to the outside. Many wineries that you can spend the day at like we did.

I grew up on Lake of Egypt and am happy to live here full time so my kids can have the same unforgettable experience. My husband and I own and manage 2 short term rentals as well as a nearby boat rehab and repair shop. We love sharing Southern Illinois and all it has to offer with guests from around the world!

Why they chose this property

The Canary is located directly on the water in a quiet and fairly private no wake cove with very little road or water traffic. We love that our kids can kayak, swim, and paddle boat safely right off the dock. Several amenities are just minutes away including restaurants, Just Add Water bait and tackle shop, Dollar General, and even an ice cream shop. The City of Marion is just a short drive and has anything else you could need from shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.

What makes this property unique

Peace and quiet, being tucked away in a small cove gives The Canary a wonderful sense of tranquility. Morning coffee on the perch is always an experience with squirrels, birds, deer, rabbits, foxes, turtles, fish, and more. It is also very easy to get to and doesn't require miles of hilly, curvy roads.
