Lovely, Eco-Conscious Retreat on Lake Michigan w/ Private Beach & Hot Tub

September 2025 Bookings: There is a 3-night minimum stay, and you may check-in or check-out on a Saturday.

A beautifully renovated, eco-conscious* home just minutes from Saugatuck/Douglas, South Haven & Holland. This home sits on a tranquil lot with mature trees, privacy from neighbors, 3 decks (2 shaded), and gorgeous Lake Michigan views with 140 feet of shoreline. The walkable beach is accessible from new Trex stairs and a large 40 foot deck overlooking the beach/Lake Michigan; both are lit at night. Take a mile-long walk around the quiet neighborhood over a wooden bridge and creek. Play croquet and other games in the large yard. The home has an open-concept main living space and kitchen with a four seasons room (with heated floors), all with lake views. Two tables can easily sit 16+ people. Three of the four bedrooms have king beds with closets; two share a hallway bathroom and the other has an ensuite bathroom and office space. The fourth bedroom sits in the back of the house and serves as a kids' bunk room/play space/TV room. It sleeps 10 with an ensuite bathroom with double sinks and hooks for all. It also has a 12-drawer built-in dresser for everyone's things. Enjoy a family or kid movie night lounging on the built-in "couches" - cal. king & queen trundle. In addition, the home has an outdoor shower, half bathroom in the main living space as well as gas fireplace, and laundry room. A new hot tub was installed August 2023.

*We designed and stocked Ambleside Retreat to be an eco-conscious get-away. All mattresses, including crib mattress, are organic (except Queen Trundle due to size constraints). The vast majority of bedding and towels are 100% cotton and OEKO-TEX. Our cleaning service uses - as well as stocked cleaning supplies are - clean, non-toxic brands. (Harsher chemicals will be used only when necessary.) Shampoo, conditioner, soaps, toilet paper and paper towels are all clean and sustainable. LED lights, new and efficient windows, toilets with a green flush option, and antique or FSC-certified furniture throughout.

**Please Note: Michigan shorelines change daily. After two years of ownership, we have always had beach; but, we cannot say with 100% certainty you will have beach when you rent.

Beautiful space for a girls getaway

This property had everything we needed for a restful, relaxing weekend away. The views of Lake Michigan from the house and deck near the water are beautiful. The open floor plan of the living/kitchen area provided lots of seating options for our group. The large bedroom area was very open and even with all the beds it accommodates, felt spacious.

Quiet beach getaway

We really enjoyed staying at this house. It was recently updated and was clean and organized The bathrooms and kitchen were very nice with well stocked dishes, utilities and glasses. The property has deer, trees and beach. It was really beautiful. Our family enjoyed walking on the beach. Memorable family vacation.

This house was a true find. We were a large group with diverse interests and a variety of needs and wants. This house, its location and amenities, full filled them all. Beautiful place, perfect for large groups, gorgeous views

We had a great time at this lake house- we were large group of 7 adults and 6 kids, but the house never felt crowded. Access to the beach is easy, well maintained. We got lucky with awesome weather each of the days we were here - we went to the beach every morning/afternoon. The kids loved the various beach toys the place came equipped with. The deck was appreciated by the ones who didn’t quite want to be on a beach. You are right on the lake and the views are hard to beat - we enjoyed beautiful sunsets almost every evening. Anne was super easy to communicate with and quite prompt.

Thoroughly enjoyed our late winter stay at this stunning property with amazing sunset views and private access to beach. Excellent and attentive communication with both host and property management company as needed for longer-stay maintenance. Comfortable beds, lovely living spaces, and plenty of kitchen equipment to cook meals - when not visiting great bakeries and restaurants within 15-20min drive. Local coffee and eco-friendly paper products and shampoo are extra touches, very appreciated!

Absolutely amazing

Everyone enjoyed staying in your beautiful, peaceful and comfortable home with incredible views and staired access to beach. Thoughtful touches throughout the home - kitchen is very well stocked with plates, utensils and equipment for cooking, bathrooms have plenty of towels and toilet paper; extra blankets and pillows available for bedrooms; games and puzzles and beach equipment to share. Plenty of places in the home to gather or to find a quiet moment alone. Only 15 minute drive from Saugatuck arts and restaurants, and less than 30 minutes to South Haven. Can't imagine a more lovely place to spend a vacation. Thank you for sharing!
