Booked for my partners 40th birthday and we really loved this property and its close proximity to the lake. We are a family that goes fishing as often as possible, so this was a little slice of heaven for us!
Overall our stay was great! The VRBO and property are both really small, but we knew that from the listing. The kitchen is stocked with basic necessities and a few extras, but it is difficult to find what you’re looking for. I did not find the washer and dryer right away so we ended up not using it but it does tell you where it’s located if you read more carefully the check in info.
This was a delightful experience! The property exceeded our expectations. It was well kept, very clean, allowed us to have our two fur babies with us, had a wonderful view of the lake from the patio and living room, and was close to good eating establishments and activities (golf). We DEFINITELY intend to be coming back.
Great place, very clean and right on the lake. Close to attractions and shopping. Communication was very fast and friendly. Thank you for a great (too short) stay!
The property had a very nice view of the lake and was a very nice place to just get away for the wknd to relax and forget about everything else. The house was very clean had the wrong passcode to get into the but contacted the property and he responded right away. Had an amazing stay.
We stayed here after disappointing cancellations at two other properties. My son and nephew were taking sailing lessons at Wawasee(a quick 15 minutes down the road). The cottage was perfect for myself, two boys, my sister-in-law and my adult daughter. The cottage was clean and comfortable, with space for the boys to do their thing, as well as the adults. We all had fun on the lake with the paddle board and kayak. It was convenient to restaurants and shopping in Syracuse and North Webster. We had a couple of days of rain that kept us off the lake, but kept occupied with things inside. Would definitely book again!
This place was perfect for us! So cute with so many little extras! Plenty of room and places to sleep. It was very clean and just like described. There were lake toys, travel sizes of anything you might have forgotten, very comfy couch. The living room is perfect to just watch everyone on the water from the couch or dining table. The host was very responsive also when I had questions before and during the stay. We will absolutely stay here again!!
This house was everything we needed for a weekend getaway. For an older home, it’s been very well maintained. The location on the lake was perfect, and within walking distance to the store and local restaurants. Plenty of extra amenities and activities are provided. We rented a pontoon from Socks Marina, and to be able to dock the boat right at the house for the weekend was so convenient. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!
Loved our stay - house was very well stocked and very clean. Lakefront was nice - a bit too much sea weed for our liking, but still swimable. We would definately stay here again.
We stayed 2 nights and definitely wish we would have stayed a third. We brought our two teenage kids and they each brought a friend. They had plenty to do. We brought our boat to fish and pull the kids tubimg; we never got a chance to fish! Kids were paddleboarding, kayaking, tubing and swimming on Big Barbee Lake. The wife and I got a chance to go for a couple boat rides to explore the rest of the lakes which were beautiful. The property itself has everything you need to entertain the family. Definitely will book again! Too much to list on things to do and explore.
My wife and I took our 3 grandkids on a short getaway trip and stayed at this house. It was perfect with direct access to Big Barbee Lake. Our host, Frank, was great to work with and answered all questions via Vrbo quickly. The amenities for water activities were excellent. Including a paddle board, kayak, and a very large water pad that the grandkids enjoyed. The house has two bedrooms with queen size beds and one bedroom with bunk bed and another twin size bed. Kitchen was nicely equipped and included a water cooler and an ice-maker which we utilized greatly on the hot days. Also has Cuisinart convection over, small four-burner gas stove/oven, dishwasher and microwave.
We also appreciated the pet-friendliness and brought our two Dachshunds.
Definitely would rent again.
We enjoyed a comfortable stay with beautiful lakefront view on Big Barbee. We had plenty of room for 2 adults to stretch out across couches and tables for a writing retreat, and enjoyed making some of our own meals in the well-stocked kitchen. There were a couple of spots where you could feel the 'family-built' nature of the cabin (like the tiny 1/2 bath!), but that felt like part of the rustic charm. I love the Barbee Chain as a summer destination for swimming, boating, and other lake fun!
