Unsanitary and Poor Location
After arriving at the house, I realized there was no entry code, forcing me to call the owner. Once inside, the place smelled like weed. When I contacted the owner, he blamed it on smoke blowing in from the neighbors. Later, we noticed the bathtub was draining extremely slowly. After three showers, it became disgusting and took over an hour to partially drain the next morning. When I called the owner, he admitted the tub wasn’t draining correctly and claimed to have contacted a plumber, but no one showed up. The kitchen had a filthy, used sponge left for us to clean with, and the supposedly clean dishes in the cabinet were still dirty since they were hand-washed—there was no dishwasher. To make matters worse, the refrigerator leaked a brown liquid, so we had to put a cup inside to catch the drip. The lovely backyard could only be accessed through a bedroom off the kitchen, making it impossible for the person in that room to have any privacy. The pool, advertised as heated, was barely warm. The most alarming part was the neighborhood, which did not feel safe at all. The experience was disappointing, especially given the owner’s lack of urgency to address the tub issue and the unsanitary conditions. Since we effectively had only one usable bathroom in what was supposed to be a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom rental, we believe a refund is justified and would appreciate guidance on how to request one.
