Brilliant Lakeside Getaway

Nestled on Lake Champlain in farm country, this lake house getaway was wonderful. The perfectly designed and well-appointed cottage was newly renovated and perfectly furnished. The hosts were gracious and thoughtful. Every amenity was considered and provided. The local town is very close, offering everything we need, from dinners to coffee and pastries. Local farm stands are everywhere, offering excellent fresh food. Burlington is a 45-minute easy drive away; We rode bikes around the lake house area and in Burlington. Bottom line: a great experience from superlative hosts. We highly recommend it.

Lake Trip

Loved it. Very relaxing. Drank coffee by the lake and listened to the loons while I watched them dive. Many amenities are provided inside and out. Bath towels were on the luxurious side which you'd melt into. We had rain two days but found things to do. Their huge picture window made the rain hypnotic to watch. We highly recommend this place. P.s. if not from Vermont be sure to go to creemies and get a maple soft serve it won't disappoint.

Wonderful Family Vacation

Everything from the décor to the stunning view of the lake, the backyard, kayaks, dock,& fire pit, was well thought out and inviting, making it easy to relax and forget about home. We chose this lakefront place to celebrate what might be our last family vacation for a while, as our eldest just graduated and is moving out for her new job. We wanted relaxing quality time, and this was perfect for our family of four adults and our dog. We hiked in nearby reserves and spent a day in Montreal, enjoying Mount Royal, French treats, and the BioDome, before returning to the cottage for take-out dinner. Most days, we stayed at the cottage, enjoyed thrifting at a local store, and our dog loved the vacation too. I cooked almost every night with the well-stocked kitchen, though I'd recommend bringing your preferred spices. We used the fire pit for s’mores, and my husband fished off the dock daily, catching plenty of fish. We enjoyed takeout from Twiggs and Werner’s, suggestions in the hosts’ info book. The sunsets were a highlight every night, enjoyed with a glass of wine. Andrea and Mike, our hosts, were attentive, leaving a personalized gift for us and our dog, along with a handwritten note. A small issue on the first night was quickly resolved. The cottage is well supplied with towels, paper products, ect. As we left, my daughters and I sighed and said goodbye to the cottage, thanking it for one of our best family vacations. Mike and Andrea, for all the heart you put into the cottage

“Let’s stay here forever”

Upon entering the cottage, there’s a blanket in the living room that says “let’s stay here forever” and we seriously considered it! This place is well appointed, open floor plan, tastefully decorated, and was absolutely spotless when we arrived! Mike and Andrea are very attentive hosts, and have thought of everything to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The view of the lake was gorgeous. We had such an enjoyable and relaxing stay, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!!

Perfect lake house!

Enjoyed our stay so much that we asked to extend our reservation (unfortunately, the house was already booked so we were unable to do so). The house was beautifully decorated (my 18 year old said it looked straight out of a magazine- and she’s hard to impress). The view of the lake was amazing - whether outside or sitting on the sofa looking out the large windows. The beds were super comfortable. The throw pillows and blankets around the house made it so cozy. The bathroom was my favorite part- it was spacious, clean, lots of extra towels, and loved the rain shower head! I can’t say enough positive about the house! Very cute. VERY clean! The house is a little small, but windows make it feel larger. There was enough space for a family of 4 to spend a rainy day playing board games and watching movies. The house had all the amenities needed plus some. Can’t wait to return. We were in town visiting our daughters who attend UVM, this location was nice break from Burlington rentals. Easy drive to Burlington and to Stowe!

Sweet Getaway

This is a beautifully and thoughtfully renovated cottage in a peaceful, private setting with a gorgeous view of the water. Our hosts have thought of everything to make a stay here delightful. We are retired and enjoyed the peace and quiet but there are lots of opportunities for fun on the water. Our kids and grandkids visited us for a day, as we all live locally. Just a very special place that we plan to visit again.

Beautiful Lake Cottage

This cottage was everything we hoped it would be. Everything was very comfortable, with excellent amenities. Beautiful bathroom, well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds. Extra touches like cozy throws and ample, plush towels (shower and beach) were a huge plus. It was so great to be able to bring our dog, Ruth. The leash run set up in the yard, when we attached the long leash we brought, gave her the freedom and safety she needed. Really enjoyed the aquatic gear in the shed, especially the fishing kayaks. It's just a short paddle north to First Creek, where there were plenty of perch and bass for an evening's angling. We can't say enough good things, and hope to return. Bill, Sarah, and Family.

Swanton/Lake Champlain Sweetness

We had a fabulous time during our stay in Swanton. I've rented camps for years on Lake Champlain and this is definitely one of the best layouts for a camp. The interior is cozy with all you need for your stay and plenty of outdoor and water equipment are at the ready. Absolutely loved the three-tier lawn/beach area which is very unique for a camp. The solar lights and outdoor lighting add to the ambiance of nice summer nights. You'll enjoy the fabulous sunsets...a view that never gets old. Mike and Andrea are fabulous hosts and were available for any questions or concerns we had. We plan on coming back to this camp! We loved the camp...and if you choose this camp we believe you'll love it too.

Lake Life

Upon arrival you see all the detail that went into renovating this cottage. The view from the front window makes you want to head outside as soon as you wake up. We were fortunate to have had beautiful weather, so spent most of the days outside. The hosts have thought of every amenity, which made packing so much easier. I highly recommend this incredible spot, we were wishing for another week on the way home!

About the host

Hosted by Mike & Andrea

Host profile image
We both grew up outside of Boston and moved to Vermont almost 25 years ago in pursuit of a better quality of life. We have always felt that Lake Champlain was Vermont's greatest asset and incredible source of beauty, fun, and relaxation. We're very excited to be able to share the "lake life" experience with others who seek to relax, unwind, and take in a great sunset.

Why they chose this property

This section of the lake, known as the inland sea, is incredibly gorgeous. If you're willing to take a long paddle in the kayak you will find all kinds of interesting things. We also find Swanton and St. Albans to be incredibly underrated with great restaurants, tons of farm stands, and nice people. There are some amazing places to visit that can be visited by car - Montreal (90 minutes), Burlington (35 minutes), Stowe (75 minutes), and the Lake Champlain Islands (30 minutes).

What makes this property unique

Our cottage stands out for its amazing sunsets, tasteful decor (at least we think so), and for it's layout that makes a small cottage feel big enough for a family to enjoy on a rainy day. Being right on the lake with west facing views means long sunny days on the water and pleasant evenings with unrivaled sunsets.
