Same group of guys for 15 years. The cabin was perfect for us. Clean, cozy and complete. Great kitchen and the beds were comfy. One of our guys shot a 17 point buck on Longville public lands. Thanks for everything Paulette!
We had a wonderful time- clean property and easy walk to the beach. Walker was a fun town to explore when it was a little rainy in the afternoon. Would stay here again!
My family loved staying at this unique property. Welcoming host and community. So much to do and see. I’m hoping to plan another trip to Leech Lake soon!
not hard to get to and from casino, beautiful cabin, spacious, plenty of seating, good beds, good shower, much better than a hotel because of the kitchen
This property was perfect for what we needed. The cabin was clean, well stocked and the owner did a great job with communication. If you’re looking for a place to land while visiting Walker, this is conveniently located.
Place was clean, kitchen really well stocked beds were comfortable! Neighbors friendly and owner very nice and responsive. Close to public launch and beach, we didn't have a boat but nice and easy access to dock across street. We visited Walker and Itaska State Park while we were there. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay while exploring Leech Lake the surrounding area!
This property was everything we expected and some. We were very happy with the property and the service. I will definitely consider this one again if we are looking for a place in the Walker/ Leech Lake area.
Overall was a decent stay, there was a few things on the property that could definately use maintenance (hole in sheetrock near main door) etc. and there is a neighbor on the north side of the street that was up outside yelling drink till midnight the first night we could hear perfectly through closed windows. He woke our baby up multiple times. Was also very rude about my sister parking in front of the driveway and crossing the property line by maybe 2 inches.
The owner helped us identify/strategize our fishing. This was super helpful and greatly appreciated. The place was cool and quirky at the same time. We checked out at 9:04 with a disgruntled and impatient cleaner in a Range Rover. Seems to fit the "me" ness of a Range Rover owner. The 9:00 checkout is ridiculous in my opinion. Noon is the proper time in my opinion.
We had an enjoyable experience staying at Moosehead. Paulette and Mike were amazing hosts and did an amazing job communicating with us throughout the stay. Mike also went out of his way to provide us with extensive information on fishing spots on Leech Lake + tips/tricks on how to catch Walleyes, Perch, and Muskies. The home had two spaces out front that fit two vehicles, but not large enough if you had a boat/trailer. There are enough parking spaces in the back next to the garage/pole barn that fit two trucks and two large boats – that’s where we parked. We did not use the dock to park our boats; without the lift, it would make it difficult to step onto the dock… still is possible but will require some work. We did, however, fish off the dock and caught a couple of fish. The location was good – far enough away from the tourist area, but close enough to town if you need to grab anything. There are a few public accesses nearby. The only cons we had about staying at Moosehead is the one-bathroom for 8 people, making it challenging for taking showers, plus the main bathroom did not have a lock on the door, which led to folks accidentally walking in on others. There’s no central AC in the house, but the window AC(s) upstairs really cool the rooms down, making it bearable during this hot/humid weather. Other than that, we had fun and enjoyed our time fishing on Leech Lake. We will visit again and will consider Moosehead for a future stay.
Mike and I have been coming to Leech Lake since we were kids when each of our families would come for a yearly family vacation. Our dads' loved to fish and wanted to share that love of fishing with their children. We each became hooked; hook, line and sinker. Mike and I are avid fishermen. Mike has been a fishing guide and we have both been in numerous fishing tournaments. Now, as adults, we want to share that family 'up north' feeling with you. So we decided one way to do that was to host on VRBO.
Why they chose this property
The tiny community of Whipholt is located on the South end of Leech Lake where the views of the lake are so vast you would swear you are near the ocean. We feel this end of the lake has a Million Dollar view. It is right off Highway 200.
