About this property

Lakefront Chalet in Northwest Michigan

Nestled in the Manistee National Forest the chalet is located just south of M-55 between Cadillac and Manistee on all-sports Pine Lake! The lake is partially developed with only 15 cottages and the rest of the lake is National Forest! We are on a 1.5-acre lot directly on the waterfront with a walk out basement. There are no stairs to get to the lake. Sleeps up to 14.

Please note: Seeing that we are in the middle of the national forest, we have well water and septic. We may have some spiders, spider webs, mosquitos, flies, ants, bears, deer, bats, mice, coyote, bobcats, you name it. Small critters and bugs do get into the house from time-to-time, and we do our best to get them back out where they belong :)

Only minutes to activities including:
Lake Michigan beaches, Downhill skiing, Cross country skiing, Hiking, Fishing, Wildlife viewing, Horseback riding, Golfing, Shopping, Swimming, Water skiing, Jet skiing, Mountain-biking, Boating, Mushrooming, Fall color tour, Canoeing, Snowmobile, Salmon/Steelhead/Trout fishing, Casino fun and more!

Perfect Place

Our group had a wonderful time at the cabin. The lake views were nice, the deck was great for watching sunset, and the house had everything we needed. The owners were attentive to messages and checkin was easy. The amenities in the home met our expectation and there was plenty of parking. Great weekend at a perfect location.

Relaxing & fun getaway for all!

The Wellston cottage is a great place to stay, & the owners are incredibly responsive & hospitable. The pictures do not do it justice. A huge plus that we did not know of until arriving is that there is a really nice little beach area in the backyard where the property meets the lake. The lake itself is absolutely beautiful -- incredibly serene. The water is a perfect temperature -- a little bit mucky, so water shoes are encouraged if you'd like, but we waded out nearly a football fields length & could still stand up -- very cool! *The only things I would say are important to note if you're going there are: 1) the cooking utensils are a little sparse, so maybe bring some of your own if you'll be doing lots of cooking & dish-preparing/serving (i.e. there were about 4 ladles, but only 1 "serving spoon" -- nothing crazy, just a little odd). And 2) there is NO central air. We somehow overlooked that detail when booking the place (it was our fault, not the owners), so when we got there, we thought "oh no, the AC isn't working, & it's going to be high 80's & very high humidity -- yikes!!". There were a couple of fans set up, but I would definitely recommend that you bring some more of your own if you have them. The upstairs bedroom & loft were VERY hot/stuffy, which made sleeping up there a little uncomfortable in the given weather (especially since you couldn't open the upstairs window due to it not having a screen). *But again, we enjoyed our stay, & loved the outdoor space!!!
