Privacy and Seclusion - Marsh View 150 Yards from Front Beach
The PALMETTO PEARL is not just another Beach House. It's an exceptional vacation experience. Privacy just 150 yards from the Ocean is hard to find in any Beach Community. That's only one of the many features The Palmetto Pearl has to offer. This absolutely unique original Folly Beach Property has been in our family for over 40 years and was offered as a Vacation Rental in 2012 after undergoing a complete renovation. Since that time we have continued to upgrade the house on an annual basis. During the pandemic lockdown we took the opportunity to completely refurnish the great room and the screen porch. The back deck was completely renovated with a new composite deck. A new driveway with designated parking was also added. The Palmetto Pearl is set back from the roadway on a high lot surrounded by a small forest of Palmetto (Palm) Trees and Grande Oaks. The back deck offers fabulous sunset's with private views of the estuaries and salt marshes of the Folly River. With easy access to the Beach, the Palmetto Pearl is additionally less than a 1/4 mile from the "Washout" reportedly some of the best surfing on the east coast, and the venue for many sanctioned surfing competitions throughout the year. The Palmetto Pearl is in close proximity to all Folly River Recreational Activities such as para-sailing or kayaking and canoeing expeditions. As well, public tennis courts are within 5 blocks of the house, only a short bike ride away or even shorter drive where parking is available. All of this and the comforts and privacy of a family home. Nestled among the Palmettos you can enjoy the Morning Sunrise or Afternoon Ocean Breezes on the screened porch that runs along the entire front of the house without baking in the heat of Charleston's summer sun or catch some afternoon rays or evening cocktails in complete privacy of the back sundeck which boasts a gas grill, generous seating and plenty of space for entertaining or just lounging about. Bicycle and golf cart rentals are also available on the island.
Keywords: Newly Renovated and Updated. This Authentic Folly Beach House has been in the family for over 40 years. Nestled in a forrest of Palms with private views of the Folly River's marshes and estuaries this home sits only 150 yards from the Beach Front. Convenience and Privacy make this a truly unique resort property.

We loved our stay on Folly - Rental was a perfect location for a quiet retreat and easy access to the Beach. Boogie Boards and Beach Chairs were greatly appreciated !
Have not stayed at a VRBO on vacation but this was easy to book and communicating with the owners Bob and Shirley made our trip preparation and planning a breeze. The home was beautiful and had everything we needed for a great stay. Would definitely book and stay here again
Wonderful cottage close to the beach, has everything you need. Very peaceful, clean, comfortable and all around a complete joy. Would love to stay again!
Enjoyed the location of this home. Husband loved the frosted mugs waiting on him in the freezer. Easy access to beach. Very quite area. Relaxing evenings spent on the screened in front porch. Great communication with the host.
Had an amazing time staying here! Better than pictures. Loved location in that we were still within walking distance of the hot spots of town, but away from the noise. Easy walk to the beach.
Very nice little beach cottage. Clean and orderly. Lots of paperwork and rules, but that’s a sign of the times I guess. Closest beach access is convenient and a nice uncrowded spot on Folly. Nice marsh in the backyard that allowed for some good birding in the back yard. Need a golf cart or bikes to best get around the island.
My wife and I had a lovely stay at the Palmetto Pearl. The proximity to the beach was my favorite aspect. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed morning coffee and relaxing in the evening on the screened porch.
The location was wonderful. A mile walk into Folly proper, on the marsh and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The house was a nice 2 bedroom off the road. It was airy and just right for our family of 4 adults.
The front screened porch was a nice get away and the back deck wonderful for morning coffee with t a marsh view.
Chairs and boogie board were available for the beach.
The only thing I would have wanted was an easily functioning sliding door to the deck and dish towels (we didn't find any if they were there.
I would definitely stay there again.
Great place for small family or couple. Very short walk and access to beach. Appreciate them having some beach chairs as well. Loved the screened in front porch for sitting and transitioning to house from beach. Do recommend as others have to update some of the kitchen pots and pans as they are in need of it.
Wonderful location. Quiet and easy access to everything. House was very nice. Only issues were no outdoor outlet and sliding door to deck was a little difficult. Overall very comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely go again.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Palmetto Pearl. Everything was clean. Nicely furnished kitchen. Comfortable beds. Warm atmosphere. Really enjoyed the front porch and back deck. If you like places with a little character this is definitely the place to stay. Even if you don't care about character, this is a great place to stay. Will recommend it to friends.
We have noticed this cottage tucked in the palms for many years, and wondered what it was like. We were very pleased! It's lovely and very clean! Tastefully decorated! The owner's communication was great! Better than pictures show!

If you plan to stay at this cottage you will not regret it. The owners have thought of everything you may need during your stay. It was very clean and and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this cottage if you plan to stay in Folly. The whole cottage was very homey. Parking was great. Beach was just a short walk away. It was hard to leave. Definitely recommend we loved it.
What a lovely reprieve. The Palmetto Pearl is situated perfectly just off the beach road, perfect stroll to beach access and to downtown activities. The back deck is about as quiet as it can be except for birds and breezes. The front porch is a dream. The bedroom were super comfortable and cool. Almost don’t want to recommend so kept this a secret! Thank you.
Exactly what we needed. Quiet and private and very close to the beach! Close enough to go back for something, to go for a sunrise and sunset, and then to go for walk at night under the moonlight.
Only a couple things need work: the sliding door and the speakers for the TV system.
The view of the marsh was beautiful and peaceful. The screened in porch was fantastic. The entire space was comfy. Nothing fancy, but everything you need.
We enjoyed our stay at this well maintained property. Location was wonderful for it's short walk to the beach. Front screened porch was spacious and comfortable (road noise was a bit of a nuisance but the house is set back from the road so not terrible). View from back of the house was really nice. Would have been perfect with screened in porch on back of house because bugs chased us in from there. House is on the smallish side but the large front porch allowed us to stretch out comfortably. The place was well cleaned with good linens and towels. Owners were kind and responded quickly. Overall a very nice stay.
Our experience here was overall good. However, I would not recommend staying here if you have a golf cart that needs charging. The only way to do it is to leave the back door unlocked and cracked open. I did not feel comfortable with this but there was no other option as there is no outlets outside of this home. I felt like I was irritating the owners with questions. I only asked two questions and one got answered. For this reason I did not feel comfortable contacting them for anything else during our four day stay.

Close to beach
Overall it was nice but the fridge is very old and rusty and the description of completely renovated to us would also mean that the fridge has been replaced. One of the beach bikes is in very poor condition and dangerous to ride. A couple newer bikes would add to the enjoyment of the stay. We did ride them before we realized the issues but the one needs to be replaced before someone hurts themselves. It is a long walk to town, not 20 minutes.
The screened porch in the front of the house is nice. Some low to the sand beach chairs would be more appropriate versus camping chairs. Having some beach towels there would be helpful also.
