About this property

Luxury VIP: Historic Home with Rock ‘n Roll/Bourbon Heart.. Sauna & Fireplaces!

"5-Star luxury and charm abound in this historic home within walking distance to town center. Spacious and stunning with so many unique features inside and out - especially the music room, which was out of this world! The Bard House is THE house to experience bourbon country! H. H.

Welcome to The Bard House and Historic Downtown Bardstown. This luxury home draws its "Wow" inspiration from upscale boutique hotels, all things bourbon and classic Rock-N-Roll. Enjoy the themed lounge rooms, a well-appointed kitchen/dining hall, premium mattresses/linens, walk-in showers, infrared sauna, shuffleboard table, darts, and games. Play guitars and spin classic vinyl. Only a 4 block walk to shops/restaurants and central to many nearby distilleries.
Come...Relax...Create lifetime memories..& Rock On!
The space

Built in the 1780's by a member of the Bard family (see name of town), the home was remodeled and updated over the last 2.5 years. The result has been nothing short of stunning to those who have toured or stayed.

THE OUTSIDE:
A very cozy covered porch greets you with seating for 8 and a couple of tables.
It overlooks the inner yard and firepit - which has 6 Adirondack chairs surrounding it and is shaded by a couple of massive magnolia trees. There is a very nice propane grill to fire up and enjoy. The house sits on 1/2 acre with a nice back yard. Wood and some fire-starting items are supplied. There is a corn-hole set to enjoy. The garage is owner/housekeeping use only.

LIVING SPACES:

"They have spared no expense when it comes to amenities and personal touches" H. Y.

Upon entering this newly renovated home, you will realize every area has been professionally decorated.

THE RICKHOUSE LOUNGE - where you enter the home.

Relax in the 4 gorgeous aviator chairs while sipping on your pour of choice. There is a 65” Roku TV and professional dart board (made from Bourbon Barrel slats) to entertain you…as you sit among large scale photos of the inside of bourbon rickhouses.
There is a beautiful ventless gas log brick fireplace (seasonal) to warm you with just the click of a remote control.

The KITCHEN
Beautiful, spacious and well-appointed for easy meal preparation.
Large fridge/freezer, gas stove/oven, large microwave, dishwasher, coffee station (Drip+Keurig+French press), Bullet blender, blender, slow cooker, hand mixer, instant kettle, chef quality pots and pans, spice rack.

THE DINING HALL
Two eight-foot live-edge red oak slab tables greet you and hint “Gather here everyone.” One for all guests to dine at and another to spread out the games. BE SURE and take a group photo under the house brand logo and post it to social media as desired. There is a 40” TV in the hall allowing you to keep up with a sporting event of interest while enjoying meals/games.

THE MUSIC LOUNGE

Good times with good people and good bourbon are only further enhanced by good music. Spacious sectionals to relax on, a 75” Roku TV, a shuffleboard table, a ventless gas fireplace (seasonal) and mini-fridge that looks like a guitar amp….all the above set the stage for 4 guitars (you are welcome to play if you know what you are doing) and a collection of classic rock vinyl that you can spin as you share memories and create new ones. These massively deep sectionals also serve as comfy sleeping beds.

THE DOWNSTAIRS MASTER BEDROOM

Themed to the beautiful horse farms that Kentucky is famous for, this spacious room has a premium king bed, sitting area, bench cushion couch (that doubles as a bed), 65” Roku TV and cedar-lined closet.

THE DOWNSTAIRS MASTER BATH (attached)

This spacious bathroom features a vanity sink, a free-standing soaking/bubble-bath tub, enclosed toilet area and large walk-in shower. Just off the bathroom is the room that houses the two person infrared sauna with a premium Kenwood sound system.

UPSTAIRS - There are 19 steps to reach the second floor.

THE UPSTAIRS OFFICE/READING NOOK

Located right at the top of the stairs is a dedicated desk with desk light, ring light for video calls, office supplies and black ink only printer/scanner. There is also a reading library with a comfy chair.

THE UPSTAIRS MASTER BEDROOM

Featuring a premium king bed, a premium full bed, 2 velvet barrel chairs, bedside tables with touch lights, storage cubes/shelves, a luggage rack, hangers/hanging posts, a 40” Roku TV, portable fan and a split unit for AC/Heating.

THE UPSTAIRS MASTER BATHROOM (attached)

This room includes a vanity sink, walk-in shower, curtained-off toilet area, and a split unit for AC/Heating. The housekeeping storage closet is located just beyond the shower area.

THE UN-PURPOSED ROOM

There is a room beyond the upstairs bath that is NOT formally integrated into the guest experience at this time. CAUTION: It is not climate controlled. That said, there are a couple of yoga mats in there if anyone wants to exercise and the room temperature is to your liking. Note that you are trapped on the other side of the bathroom so communication is key with your housemates!

THE 2nd UPSTAIRS BEDROOM

Featuring a premium king bed, 2 premium full beds, bedside tables with touch lights and extra outlets/USB, storage cubes/shelves, a luggage rack, hangers/hanging posts, a 40” Roku TV, a portable fan and a split unit for AC/Heating. NOTE: Whoever uses this bedroom will have to use the very charming half-bath/water closet located under the stairs during the night for potty breaks.
Guest access
The entire home is available to guests. We desire for guests to ONLY USE THE BACK DOOR for all in/out use of the home. This is the door closest to the parking area, just beyond the garage. The front and side door should only be used for emergency exits.

Wonderful Bourbon Thanksgiving!

The Bard House was the perfect place for our family to enjoy a relaxing Thanksgiving together! Every room was well appointed and so cozy. We loved the short walk into town to shops and restaurants, we even got to enjoy the Bardstown Christmas tree lighting - felt like we were in a Hallmark movie! Highly recommend staying at the Bard House!

Immaculate property

This was the best property we've stayed at! So many small details really show how much the owner cares and takes pride in the experience. It was a total of 3 couples staying here for a 40th birthday celebration. Would not hesitate to book again?30th

What a treat! 5 stars!

We (two couples) enjoyed a 3 night stay during the PGA Championship. The house was really, really nice. Every time one of us said “I wish we had a…” we either found one in the house or Laura was right there on the text to help us find it. One of the best and most thoughtfully equipped and provisioned VRBOs that we have stayed in. Spotlessly clean. Tons of games and entertainment in the house. Highly recommended!

Great spot for bourbon trail trips

The place is great. It has everything you need for groups trips. A nice big dinner table, good seating in the rec room, a tidy little backyard for grilling & a fire pit. Hs off street parking, walkable to the Bardstown Main Street and of course close to tons of distilleries. Lots of bourbon related glassware and accessories were good to have. A nice welcome basket with a personalized rocks glass was a nice touch. The upstairs HVAC was a little trinket but that’s sort of to be expected in an older house, and it didn’t cause any real discomfort. The host communication was great and the check in/out was easy and well-communicated. I would definitely book again on a return trip.

Really Enjoyable Stay

Our group of bourbon enthusiasts really enjoyed our stay at The Bard House. The home was very clean upon arrival and was a perfect landing spot for us as we visited several stops on the trail. We enjoyed grilling out one night and enjoying the fire pit. Would definitely stay here again!

It is extremely well-appointed and thoughtfully organized (and labeled!), and you will definitely have everything you need. The snacks and drinks were a nice touch, and it was perfectly clean.
