Let the outdoors in! Hot tub is down the stairs at the end of the deck.
Nothing more relaxing than laying in the hammock next to the creek.

About this property

Modern Cabin Inside Sf National Forest 12 Miles to Plaza

Beautiful modern mountain cabin with all high end amenities INSIDE the Santa Fe National forest.
Summer and Winter wonderland!
The home is all on one level - no stairs of any kind (except the exterior stairs down to the hutub) King bed in the master and two queen beds in the guest rooms - all plush pillow top beds with very comfy sheets and down comforters.
Awesome master bath with giant cast iron tub, perfect for two if you don't feel like sitting in the hot tub :-)
Fully stocked kitchen with a Viking range and everything you will need.
Extreme privacy - this is one of the only properties like this in the Santa Fe area - a true mountain paradise get away, yet so close to town with a mountain creek that winds through the forest.
Out door enthusiasts will love it here, bring your mountain bikes in the summer and your cross country ski's in the winter, ski right out the front door!
Since we are located in the national forest hikers will love it here. There are great trails within walking distance or by a short drive - another reason to have an SUV so its easier to get up into the forest past the cabin.
The home has ample deck and patio space overlooking the creek and hot tub, perfect for out door entertaining.
Birders will love it up here! We have great birds all year around but especially in the summer when the hummingbirds are everywhere.
Cool temps in the summer when downtown is hot!
Encantado resort is right down the road for world class dining and spa services.
There is a 2 mile dirt road to the property and the last 1/2 mile can be very bumpy and it can get muddy or snowy depending on the weather. I would recommend an SUV or higher clearance vehicle for the summer months to make travel on the road more comfortable. In the winter a four wheel drive SUV or truck is mandatory because we are in the mountains and there will be snow - see the pictures.
So if you are looking for a place to truly relax and be surrounded by nature yet be close to all that Santa Fe has to offer please consider us!
Pets are allowed for a fee, please discuss with me first.

Amazing National Forest Stay!

House was amazing! Host Brian was amazing! We loved this house very much for our Christmas holiday! I couldn’t imagine a better place to stay for Christmas, and it even snowed on Christmas Day! I highly recommend this property. I look forward to staying at this property during the summer months in the future.

Paradise in the mountains!

My husband and I loved this place! It is clear that this house has been a labor of love and we felt so lucky to have had the chance to stay here while visiting beautiful Santa Fe. Brian is an incredibly gracious host. The home itself is beautiful with a wood burning stove, fully stocked kitchen, gorgeous deck looking out to the woods and serene creek below. The hot tub was a perfect place to relax after a day of skiing and the master bedroom made us feel like we were staying in a 5 star hotel. We definitely want to visit again!

Great Spring Stay in the Mountains

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin in the mountains. There were 2 couples and our small dog. You are right in the forest at this cabin. Comfortable beds, great kitchen, great deck and outside areas.

Spectacular stay

I stayed at this home for 4 days and it was nothing short of spectacular. The roaring stream just below the house provided a great secluded remote feel without being too far from the city's social scene. The house layout with the big beautiful windows facing the stream and forest was a backdrop that you couldn't get anywhere else. Would recommend to anybody!

Amazing, Peaceful Home

Words can't describe how special Brian's home is ... from the location and natural surroundings to the house design, it's simply perfect. Add to that the ability to hike right up the road and a kind, generous owner and you have the best place to stay in Santa Fe. I've spent a lot of time vacationing in the area and this is the most beautiful and comfortable home, by a long shot.

Wonderful and Special place

What a fabulous place to stay. Up in the Forest about 20-25 minutes from downtown Santa Fe. Such a special place. Adorable squirrels and birds everywhere. Our first drive through the forest was a little hairy, but got easier and easier each time. Every need was thought through in the house. Highly recommended!!

Wonderful time!

My husband and I are frequent users of vrbo.com and this has been our favorite place. It was wonderful being secluded and away from the city. The cabin is amazing with all the amenities and so uniquely decorated. Thank you for sharing your cabin! We cannot wait to return and would recommend this cabin to all of our friends!

Get Away

We felt we were getting away without being too remote. There was plenty of room for our group of 6 to do puzzles, read, do yoga, etc. There are lovely trails nearby. For some of them, it's an adventure just getting to the trailhead.

Best retreat ever

I stay away from home nearly half the year. This property was one of my best stays away from home. Brian made sure that everything was perfect. From the hot tub by the creek to the efficiency of the cabin, this property was magical…. and I never leave reviews on anything. So worth the trip and a will most definitely return for another stay in the future.

peaceful escape

Wonderful property, clean and well kept. Instantly relaxing when you get there. The master bedroom is beautiful, opening up on the mountain stream, and I have not slept so well in months. My wife, kids, and I enjoyed the canyon tremendously and went for daily hikes, sat by the stream, and enjoyed the "cabin" (more like a well appointed home). Brian was awesome, super helpful, and always available. A beautiful, peaceful place to stay.

Great Family Getaway

We loved Brian's cabin! It was the perfect spot for our family. We were looking for an escape from the summer heat and a place to hangout and it did not disappoint! The outdoor sitting areas were a big hit. We loved the trees, wildlife and never grew tired of watching the hummingbirds. Although we enjoyed a few local restaurants and hiking trails, we were content to be at the cabin for most of our stay. Really enjoyable atmosphere. The cabin was very clean with comfortable beds and Brian was a pleasure to work with. We would definitely enjoy a return visit.

The perfect setting

This is a perfect setting, you are way above Santa Fe in the woods this is the place for you if you like to get away from it all, lot's of hummingbirds and birds you get to feed. The cabin is very unique, great kitchen with everything you need to make a wonderful meal, all the windows and doors open and have screens so you can get all that mountain air, it has a steam shower, the hot tub is down by the creek and was clean, I can't say enough good things about this place. The road is a bit ruff but well worth it.

Secluded mountain forest with a beautiful stream

This was an idyllic place for staying for 15 days and nights. The furnishings, appliances, cookware, linens, provided supplies were all the nicest of any VRBO we have used. We had no problems, complaints. or issues at all. The owner is immediately at hand to take care of anything that might need attention, and to provide any information needed and respond to questions. Our stay was during the ABQ Balloon Fiesta, and though it is an hour or so from that, it wasn't our main reason for being there; so that distance was no problem. It is only a few minutes from the Teseque village, 20-30 minutes from all manner of shopping/dining in Santa Fe, and 45 minutes to an hour from Taos. Yet with all that close-by the property provides great seclusion for relaxing enjoyment of the forest and wildlife right from the living room, full-length porch, patio, deck, and hot-tub. It is true luxury in the wilderness with spaciousness and comfort that we, our adult children, and grandchildren all enjoyed. We could not have had a better time.

At the top of my list!

We booked for 8 days in early October (unwittingly booked during balloon fiesta) in order to fully explore Northern NM. The cabin is well situated for all our adventures. And we went on MANY. LANL, Bandolier, Valles Caldera, Jemez Mountains and Santa Fe National Forrest (which is literally out the front door). This ranks at the top. I was particularly impressed that Brian, the owner, stopped by on night one to introduce himself and allow us to pick his brain on places we might enjoy. Booking online is always a crap shoot, but you simply cannot go wrong with this wonderful place and host.

Enchanting and Serene

This home is phenomenal! It is secluded enough to be peaceful and close enough to the city to be convenient. Communicating with the owner was extremely easy; we ran out of firewood one morning, sent Brian a message, he responded within 15 minutes to let us know where the storage of firewood was located. The house had everything we needed: sleds for our children, a hot tub, a stocked kitchen, WiFi, even a small back house with a bathroom. Every morning we fed the birds and squirrels that were waiting in the trees, right off the back deck around 7:15 am. Perfect for families! Our family would love to come back and see this property in the summer, though it was also magical in the winter - one of the most beautiful homes we’ve ever stayed in.

About the host

Hosted by Brian Bodei

Host profile image
My name is Brian and I have lived in this paradise for over 17 years and now its time to share.

Why they chose this property

This is the only location thats this close to Santa Fe, inside the national forest, on a stream that affords total privacy and high quality of living. I feel so blessed to have been able to live up here all these years. I can never get over how beautiful Pacheco Canyon is!

What makes this property unique

This home was designed by and award winning designer - no boring architecture here. The home was planned to feel like the outdoors and indoors were one, and I truly think we succeeded. Sitting by the creek, watching the humming birds, having margaritas on the deck - or in the hot tub. Mountain biking and skiing right out the front door - endless miles of hiking and exploring, watching the birds - it never gets old! The only problem with staying up here is that you will not want to leave....Santa whaa?
