Spectacular!

Wouldn’t change a thing. Wonderful property, great lake toys, amenities were plentiful, communication the best, so convenient to town & restaurants and a concert by the loons every night. Hope to return many times. Thanks Chap for everything (including the dental recommendation)

Quintessential Maine

It felt like being at the best summer camp ever, but with loved ones!! A large rustic cabin right on the lake. Our favorite things were the screened porch, the trampoline in the lake, the outdoor shower, fishing from the canoes, and the long wooded drive, great for jogging. Chap, the host, was beyond generous with information and support, for which we are grateful. The location is perfect. We hiked Acadia, took a boat trip out to Monhegan Island, visited picturesque Camden, putt putt golf, on and on. While the rest of the country was roasting, we were cool and enjoying heavenly Maine. We can’t wait to come back! A million thanks for our now beautiful memories. 🙏

We had such a lovely time on the lake, and Chap was super friendly and communicative. So peaceful and the kids loved being right on the water!! Very comfortable cabin, everything you could possibly need and easy access to all the mid coast Maine magic. 😎

Great lake house in a great location

This lake house was everything we had hoped it would be. The house was secluded, and very private. The dock was large with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the lake and the stars at night. Great swimming area clear of weeds, debris, etc. There's a nice screened in porch with new high top table furniture, perfect little hang out spot while you aren't down at the water. The large TV was a great addition for late night movies. Kitchen is clean and fully equipped for whatever you'd like to prepare, gas grill up on the porch also came in handy. There's a private outdoor shower with both hot and cold running water. We didn't think we'd use it much at first but we ended up using it exclusively rather than the showers inside the house. All of the bedrooms had air conditioning which made sleeping very comfortable. We did some fishing right off of the dock and landed some smallmouth bass and white perch. Our week was warm but there is a beautiful fire place with plenty of wood available if a cold day comes along. The host, Chap, was also very responsive and stayed in touch with us by text periodically during the week to make sure everything was ok. We really had no complaints about this property, we had a great week and really enjoyed our stay.

When visiting Maine, the Kistler Lodge is the place to stay at!

This rental property was nothing short of a dream. The cabin was spacious, clean and inviting, and we started to relax from the moment we walked through the front door. The beds were comfy, the atmosphere was cozy, and the central kitchen quickly became our main gathering area. Situated on a beautiful lake with a private dock, there were endless options for fun with a water trampoline, paddle boats, kayaks and canoe. We also enjoyed a nice glass of wine on the dock while admiring the gorgeous sunset many nights. In the the morning, the screened-in porch was the perfect setting for a morning coffee and a little bird watching. The host, Chap, and his wife were so friendly and gracious, and recommended several great restaurants and interesting activities in the area of Newcastle and Damariscotta. The location is central to many fun options, whether you decide to stay low key, or venture out to Main Street to peruse the shops or catch a delicious bite. It was hard to leave, and we are already making plans to return next year! Many thanks to the Kistlers for sharing their incredible cabin with us, and making us feel right at home!

Pictures don't do it justice!

This lakefront home is incredible! Pictures don't do this home justice. The large living room & kitchen overlooking the lake was just what my family needed for a relaxing getaway. We were provided a ton of wood so we make fires in the beautiful fireplace every night. The dock is beautiful & the available kayaks/paddleboards for renter use made our time exploring the lake so special. My son & I also caught some nice fish right off the dock! My wife loved how close the home was to grocery stores & downtown shopping. Cannot recommend this place more. Thank you Chap for your hospitality! Your special place helped us create memories that will last us a lifetime. Can't wait to book for a longer stay next summer!

Excellent ten-day stay in coastal Maine

My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful week in the Lodge...wife and I had been in the area two years before and served as guides...Lodge is perfect and huge and very clean. Pat, the cleaning lady kindly provided us with a vase of flowers from her garden and a wonderful home-baked blueberry loaf cake...traveled to nearby Maine Prison store, featuring inmate woodwork at very reasonable prices...also, Morse's Sauerkraut retail store for their weekend brunch, featuring one of the best hash we've ever had. Dined in Damarascotta at Crissy's for terrific breakfasts and King Eider for dinner and lunch and always had oysters on half-shell...oysters in this region of the country are the best...clean, tender, opened so that liquor remains in shell and always on ice. Also had our share of lobsters...Chap, the owner was wonderful and agreed that my wife and I could stay an additional three days to avoid crowds during the Papal visit in Philadelphia for an additional fee. All told, it was a great trip to Maine and wife and I are already thinking about returning to the Lodge in two years. As noted in previous review, pictures don't do this property justice. It's terrific!

Best Of Maine

The house is beautiful, in great shape, with high quality furniture, rugs, etc. The experience is, shall we say, above average for rental homes in this area. The owner is professional and responsive. The pictures do not capture the quality of the property.

All That You Can Imagine & More...

The Lodge is a beautiful, peaceful place to vacation. The house has everything that you could want for your pleasure and convenience, from a wonderful kitchen and amazing great room to a screened porch and two docks to launch a kayak or canoe, or just sit and take in the beauty of the lake with its loon, great blue heron, eagle, and shimmering light. We used the travel and trail books in the house to explore the area beyond the lake. The wonderful town of Damariscotta with its great food and book store is minutes away, and there are many trails and hikes nearby to explore the rivers, ponds, and harbors in the region. Where else can you readily kayak on a lake AND walk the coastal shoreline, all within thirty minutes of one another?! We look forward to returning...

Beautiful Damariscotta vacation

We had a wonderful time at the Lodge at Lake Damariscotta. The log home is beautiful and has everything that you would need. The lake is gorgeous and so serene. Hardly anyone was boating all week so we felt like we had the whole huge lake to ourselves! The accommodations were great and it was so nice to have our own dock and the lake trampoline. The kids loved the kayaks too. The little town of Damariscotta is so quaint and we enjoyed the biking in the area too.

Beautiful home on a beautiful lake. Great location to relax or visit mid-coast Maine attractions.

We just completed our second year renting this home for a family vacation with kids and grandkids. We had great weather and 'fully' utilized the 'owner' provided kayaks, dock, and water trampoline. The accommodations were super and the location was close to New Castle and Damariscotta for all our necessities. The fully furnished kitchen and large eating area (along with the outdoor Weber grill) made eating in easy when we chose to utilize them. Lots of options locally to enjoy dining out and visiting local brewmasters. Nothing beats a quiet day on the lake, or traveling around to visit lighthouses, hiking the rocky coast, shopping in quant villages, and eating lobster at a local lobsterman's coop. Midcoast Maine has it all and this home and it's lakeside location makes for an excellent retreat.

True beauty!

This house was so nicely kept, clean, and with incredible furnishings - beautiful wood everywhere, log beds that were really comfortable, great living room area, huge tv/internet, an outdoor shower in addition to the indoor one, canoes, kayaks, dock, water trampoline, tons of games and puzzles,...the list goes on and on. It is so well done, and we can't wait to spend another vacation here!

WoW! Relaxing, Gorgeous vacation spot....

We can't thank the owners of this property enough for their hospitality and assistance. Spent one of our most pleasant family vacations ever in this gorgeous cabin. While we enjoyed the tranquility and gorgeous views of the beautiful lake, the accomodations were modern and top-notch. Truly a hidden gem........

Kim and I, along with Macauley and Cory call this HOME. We live full time in Colorado, but Maine is our get away where we try to spend as much time as possible.

With us living all across the country, we don't get to Loon's Call Lodge as often as we'd like. Our loss is your gain!

Why they chose this property

This is our Late-Spring, Summer, and Early-Fall retirement plan. We love this area & the memories we have here.

What makes this property unique

Fishing, swimming, boating, breakfast at Moody's Diner, and relaxing top the list!

After that, we select from a thousand other things to do from shopping in Freeport (home of LL Bean) to trips to the ocean to watch the crashing waves and wild life.

Best of all are the several pairs of Bald Eagles that nest on the lake!
