About this property
Songbird Cabins - mountaintop retreat
* beautiful 20 minute drive to downtown Chattanooga *
Come as a group & get some breathing space!
The neighborhood is a cluster of 4 cabins centered around a community pavilion. Guests can spend time together, cooking, eating, playing, and relaxing & then retreat to the privacy of their own cabin to recharge.
Between funky design choices, deep colors, and lots of greenery, Talking Water will lift your spirits and bring you back to the basics - friends & family
The space
The "Songbird Neighborhood" is our first social cluster of cabins at the newly-created Talking Water Nature Retreat. Talking Water is a family-run business located on an 82-acre strip of land, a mile of which runs along Suck Creek. Our family has worked tirelessly since April 2022 to repair irresponsible logging damage to the land and make it better than it ever was. Now that we have stabilized the land and built cabins, our focus has been on expanding our hiking trails across the property.
Our primary intent is to host large groups (up to 26 guests) for family reunions, friend trips, business retreats, religious/club gatherings, etc. We have created this space for people to come together while also maintaining their privacy.
This listing is for all 4 cabins, Chickadee, Whippoorwill, Goldfinch, and Blackbird. This listing has a sleeping capacity of 26 people between the 4 cabins.
Each completed cabin includes:
- sleeping for 6-7 people
- full indoor bathrooms
- private hot water outdoor showers (available from last frost to first frost)
- full kitchens with apartment-sized fridges and stoves (no dishwashers)
- indoor dining (kitchen islands or dining tables)
- outdoor campsite grills
- outdoor dining
- stone patio with firepits
- deck and/or porch
- chairs & hammocks
- indoor electric fireplaces
- tvs
- wifi
At the center of the neighborhood is the Songbird Pavilion. The pavilion features:
- outdoor kitchen cabinets
- electric griddle
- sink
- firepit
- chairs & benches
- picnic tables
- slide
- tetherball
- "Billy GoatTrail" which takes guests past the bluffline and down to Suck Creek.
- guest laundry and games/extra toiletries are available a short distance away in the garage.

- the community pavilion, including firepit
- the laundry room
- the recreational spaces (hiking trail, slide, tetherball, children's climbing structures)
