About this property

18th Century renovated farmhouse - situated in rural Normandy.

Le Bois Macé gite is an 18th Century converted carriage house located 5km from the market town of St Hilaire Du Harcoet and 1km from the village of Les Loges Marchis. Situated in rural countryside in Lower Normandy in the deparment of La Manche, the gite is close to the borders of Brittany and Pays de la Loire and makes a great base for exploring these beautiful areas of France, or perhaps stopping off for a few days, before heading further south.
St Hilaire Du Harcoet is famous for its weekly market selling fresh local produce and also offers a range of restaurants, bars and shops. The village of Les Loges Marchis has a bar / shop where you can buy fresh croissants and baguettes in the morning ( and perhaps stop for a coffee or ricard!)

There are many interesting large historic towns within easy travelling distance by car including Domfront (30 min), Fougeres (25 min ), Avranches (35 ) and Granville (1 hour). The famous Mont Saint-Michel is 45 minutes by car and the Normandy Landing Beaches are just under a couple of hours away. There are many beautiful sandy beaches within an hours drive from the gite.
Locally the tranquil countryside setting provides ample opportunity for outside adventures and is popular with both walkers and cyclists ( we have a lock up garage for bikes should you need it )

The gite offers all modern amenities but retains many original features. Having one bedroom it is perfect for a couple, but we also have a double sofa bed on the mezzanine landing , should you wish to bring any additional guests. There is a fully fitted kitchen ( including dishwasher and everything you should need to be fully self catering ), dining area and comfortable lounge. In addition to the modern bathroom with shower etc upstairs there is a downstairs WC. There is free wifi , French television and DVD player ( a large selection of DVDs are available ). All linen / bedding and towels are provided and cleaning costs are included
Guests have sole use of the gite and its amenities, while the hosts Nicky and Dave, who live next door, are available to answer any questions if needed.
The property is set in large mature gardens which you are welcome to explore and make full use of. There are outdoor seating areas and a bbq is provided.

Quiet and comfortable

Lovely and unique property with plenty of room to spread out. Enjoyed the quiet whilst also being close to main routes and larger town. Friendly and helpful owners on hand, very welcoming

A very nice place for a comfortable stay and trips to the Mont Saint Michel bight.

This is a great gite for a quiet and comfortable stay. The gîte is in a carefully renovated farmhouse, very spacious and beautifully furnished, partly with old furniture that fits in well with the atmosphere of the house. We particularly liked the large, fully equipped kitchen, the practical bathroom and the large, comfortable bed. The house is located in a quiet area, just outside a small village and a small town, in a large, tastefully landscaped garden, which can also be used. The owners are very friendly and helpful if you need them. We felt very comfortable. The flat is a good base for trips around the south of Normandy, to the coast to Mont Saint Michel or other places in western Brittany. Highly recommended
