Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
The apartment is great; the renter's performance was not.
A wonderful apartment in a Secession-era former mansion. Spacious and high-ceilinged, with French doors opening on to a balcony with a sliver of a view of the sea, the apartment itself is very nice.
The renter, Dean, is another matter. During the booking process, he required us to send copies of our passports, which proved to be a difficult technical process that required many text exchanges over many days. (For other rental apartments, I have never been asked for passports before our arrival.)
That issue finally resolved, I learned 3 days before our arrival that he would not meet us at the apartment. He texted: "Hi John, Back in time, we use to welcome our guests and meet them in person. Nowdays especially yunger guests prefer not to meet host. So we decide to let guests to do self check-in/out."
How convenient for him, but inconvenient for us! Unacceptable.
He then texted to me the entry code for the building, but not for the apartment itself. When I asked if there was an apartment door code, he texted it to me. If I had not asked, we might have arrived at the apartment and discovered we could not get in. Also unacceptable.
Last annoyance: the television did not work. On our 2nd day in the apartment, I texted Dean, asking how to make it operational. He did not reply at all during the following seven days of our stay, Also unacceptable!
We've rented many holiday apartments over the years; the great majority have been problem-free.
This renter's performance was very poor.
