About this property
Kishauwau Cabins Dog Friendly [Commanche Cabin] near Starved Rock State Park
Enjoy the quiet seclusion of our 65 acre wooded country property just a 10 minute drive from Starved Rock State Park. Commanche cabin cabin is perfect for accommodating a family of up to 4 or just a couple, but only with their furry family members. This is one of our 4 cabins specifically rented to our dog customers.
Kishauwau Cabins offers 17 cabins spread throughout the property making us the perfect solution for large family reunions but spread out enough to give everyone their own space so it's not bothersome. Our cabins are also perfect for that romantic getaway for 2. Guests love that we are in the country for the quiet but within a short drive (10-30 minutes) of so many things to do. Most things are 10-20 minutes.
Commanche cabin is a studio that sleeps either a maximum of 3 adults or a small family of up to 4 people. 2 dog maximum. Dog fee is the fee and not refundable. We want to know that all are good with our dog policies as we are firm with those. Each of our cabins offer a full kitchen so bring all the goodies to prepare your own feast and save on food costs. You have a wonderful covered porch with swing to sit and enjoy the sounds of nature. Each cabin also offers their own personal outdoor bonfire pit with picnic table & grill. Full bathroom with standard tub/shower. All cabins have central air and are furnace heated but you also have a wood stove to make those winter days extra cozy. (winter use only).
We are family built and operated for over 35 years and we live right on property and are very responsive to our guests needs. Book with peace of mind knowing we are very transparent, what you see is what you get. We are firm in making sure our guests get the stay experience that we advertise. We hear all the time from guests that they have gone to many places and have never been anywhere and experienced the same getaway as here.

About the host
Hosted by Terisa King

I am a local. Born and raised on the west side of Ottawa, just a 20 minute drive north east of here, I grew up in the area. I married into this built up family business, my husband built these with his father and step mother as well as other family & friends. I am simply carrying on this amazing legacy that has been left behind, building it up and running it in a manor that fits with our family and today's times. We hope you love and appreciate these cabins and our property as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
About a mile and a half off of the main road (Route 178/E 8th Rd) you will be wowed by the unexpected entrance you will pull through. Tucked into a small subdivided area of country folk you will find our expansive wooded property on a bluff above the Vermillion River.
What makes this property unique
The fact that we are family run gives you an experience you don't get at many places. The spacing of our cabins is what guests love. The 24/7 open office for guests to go and borrow or buy items on a cash only honor system basis gives this a very nostalgic feel. It's like being in a forgotten time. Be prepared to be UNPLUGGED. That's what this getaway is all about. No wifi in the cabins, there is guest wifi open to you in the office if you need it for something quick. It is not for kids to use or for people to go in and sit on the internet as it is also our workspace. Very little if any cell reception, you will not know until you get here. TV's that run solely on movies, no channel reception. There is an entire wall of movies in the office building to borrow from or games & puzzles to borrow.
