Local apartment to City of Rome

This apartment was lovely and Mary was a godsend. She was more than helpful when it came to directions, getting us settled and answering our multiple questions. The location was very close to the tube and easy to find. It was also easy to get to all of the sights we wanted to, the Vatican is a nice walk to get to. I would definitely recommend this place and renting with Mary all together.

Great Experience!

We had a great time in Rome and found Mary's place to be very clean and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend staying at her place if you want to be a hop, skip and a jump away from the Vatican! The Metro was so close and after the first time we really got the hang of it :) Rome is a beautiful city and so much to see that a couple of days doesn't really do it justice. Hopefully some day we can return. Mary was very friendly and accommodating.

Nice appt.,clean and well maintained.Authentic Roman neighborhood. The patio is such a plus point and we used it every day for breakfast and dinner, since there was a great convenient store nearby.Recommend to buy a multi-day -transportation ticket, saves lot of walking and gets you around much easier. The only minus point is the constant, noisy traffic at night, which we're not used to, living in the country . O well. you can't win them all.

Great spot!

It's a nice apartment in Rome. Mary is amazing. She is attentive, helpful and makes you feel very welcome in Rome. The apartment is conveniently located just a minute walk from a metro station and if you like walking and have time you can walk to pretty much any major places in Rome from the apartment. We had our meals on the outside patio which is a big bonus to have. The apartment is specious and equipped with all necessities. I stayed there with my sister and brother-in-law and everything went rather smoothly for us. The only inconvenience was the location of the bathroom, it's in the main bedroom and doesn't have a separate entrance but it did not spoil our stay at all. I want to thank Mary for the oportunity to stay at her place and have a good time in Rome.

Couldn't be Better

My family have done a few of these types of rentals. I have to say that this is THE perfect place to stay while visiting Rome. We traveled to Mary's place with 4 kids and 2 parents (6 in total). The apartment was well equipped, and in a perfect spot. We were a 10-12 minute walk to the Vatican and Saint Peter's, a 4 minute walk to the "easy to navigate subway," and 1 minute walk to the nearest full grocery market. In addition, the place was very clean and quite. All that great stuff being said the number one reason to rent this apartment is because of Mary the owner. She speaks fantastic English (which we found was rare in Italy, unlike France and Germany), and she was extremely helpful in finding a secure spot for our large vehicle, and any other questions we had. She goes above and beyond what is normally expected. She is just great. I would recommend this place for anyone and will send all of my friends who are travelling to Rome to Mary.

EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY

We stayed at this "home away from home" for a week in mid June, 2013. Everything was wonderful. Mary, the owner, is not only the landlady, but she becomes your friend immediately. She was very helpful on what to do, where to eat, etc. and any other questions you may have. The location is perfect. You can walk to the Vatican in about 8-10 minutes. The bus and Metro are very close, there is a grocery store about a 3 minute walk away, and great restaurants are just a few minutes walking distance. Our home was clean, and had everything we could possibly need. It has a washer and when I asked about a dryer, I was told they have SUN, and the sun dries the clothes quickly. WiFi was free and easily connected, Everything was perfect. We were there with two granddaughters, ages 18 & 19, and all of us were pleased with our "home away from home". We would recommend this Home to Rent with no exceptions. It was absolutely perfect for our needs, and if we were going back to Rome, we wouldn't hesitate to rent this home again.

Perfect apartment, perfect host

Our family of four (two adults plus kids ages 9 and 10) stayed here for three nights. The apartment itself is very nice and well-kept, a good size for our family. The location is very convenient to the Vatican, with about a ten minute walk to the Vatican Museum entrance and about twenty minutes to St. Peter's Square. The garden provided a relaxing spot to rest in the afternoon after sightseeing. There are a couple of supermarkets within easy walking distance, convenient for families trying to save a little money by eating some meals in. The incredible Mercato Trionfale is about five minutes' walk away and is highly recommended as a place to buy all sorts of interesting produce, cheeses, meats, breads, etc. For gelato try Millenium located between the Vatican wall and the Cipro metro stop. The host, Mary, was exceedingly helpful and generous with her time. She provided us with an excellent dinner on our arrival, printed out our museum tickets, and drove us to the airport when we left. She was truly wonderful. One small thing to be aware of: The loft and the living room (where the fold-out bed is) communicate via a balcony, so noises travel easily. This was not a problem for us but may be something to consider if your kids are easily disturbed while sleeping.

We enjoyed our five day stay in Rome IMMENSELY! My wife and two children toured Rome and all its wonders and we couldn't have done it without Mary her this apartment. She gave us very helpful advice on where to go and what to do. We would not recommend driving a car in Rome, the drivers are crazy, the parking is just as crazy and can use up a lot of your precious time just to find a parking spot, and Mary told us that. It is just like she said, situated close to everything you need. We walked one block to the grocery store, 3-4 blocks to an outdoor market. It was several blocks to an ATM for cash withdrawls and several blocks to the train place. That made it convenient. The apartment was all we needed with two bedrooms, a small but well equipped kitchen, a family room with TV and a dining room table next to it. The patio garden was nice as a "wind down area" after a long day walking and touring. A real refuge from the hustle and bustle of Rome. We highly recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a place close in to downtown Rome, but wanting something a little quieter. The upstairs room is great but not set up for infants or very small children.

Great Apartment, Location, and Personal Service! Would stay again!

This was a lovely, clean apartment in a great location, easy walking distance to all Vatican attractions, and close to the Metro stop. Very comfortable, quiet, spacious yet cozy, with everything we needed, including comfortable beds and good wifi. Mary and her family went above and beyond to makes us welcome and comfortable. When we arrived late because of train delays in Venice, Mary even drove us in her car so that we could get to the Vatican museum on time for last entry. Then on our last day, when there was some kind of a limit on driving cars imposed by the city, and we had been unable to secure a taxi reservation, Mary went down to the Metro area and promptly returned with a Taxi Driver to take us to the airport. Whew!! Great personal service, and much appreciated when you're somewhere where most people don't speak your language! Owners live close by and are very responsive with any questions or needs. The apartment also has a great private garden area that we would have loved to enjoy had we been there when the weather was a bit warmer... We also found a great little local cappuccino/pastry/gelato place just on the other side of the Metro stop on the corner on the right hand side as you walk toward the Vatican. Lots of restaurants and grocery store nearby. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to return, and we highly recommend this place!

LIVE in Roma, don't just visit!

If you want to feel like you live in Roma rather than just visiting as a tourist, this is the place for you! It is close to the Vatican and only 5 min to the metro where you can reach all the sites (though we pretty much just walked, its about a hour walk to Trastevere and from there about 20 more min to the Coleseum) yet you live in a real Roman neighborhood. We felt completely safe even returning on foot late at night. There was an open air market very close where we shopped with the Romans and enjoyed the wonderful fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, bread, WINE (:-) so characteristic of Europe that you dont see in the states. It was marvelous, and very money-saving to walk all day seeing Rome, eat lunch out and then come back to our own house (with awesome garden patio) to have our fresh market dinner at a lovely table with umbrella amidst ivy and plants - so peaceful. Now about the property itself. First, Mary is a spectacular host. She arranged to have a driver pick us up at the airport for 60 euros (10 more than taxi, yes, however well spent since he was right there to take good care of us). Mary had left the hot water heater on so we could collapse into a very comfortable bed and rest for a few hours (never can sleep in economy on a plane!), get a hot shower and then emerge ready to see Rome. When we met her to pay the rest of the rent she spent time to tell us tips on getting to places in Rome and was very sweet and hospitable. The house itself is adorable, very clean and perfectly kitted out. Mary says she likes to host vs rent and that is exactly how we felt. Every little thing we needed (beyond personal toiletries of course) was there. It was decorated very pleasantly. Sitting in the garden having dinner one night i thought :yep, I could live here forever! It is a 2 level house with a large "master bedroom" and a loft bedroom upstairs with bathroom. Although there was a lot of street noise, the windows are very well insulated so closing them at night left you in blissful peace. We slept really well. Downstairs was a little dining area and living room with sofa in addition to a very functional kitchen with everything you need (microwave, pots, dishes, espresso pots, fridge, dishwasher - even a clothes washer which we used and was very helpful since we were off to Venice and Germany after Rome). Mary also has maps and tour books on the shelf. All in all i was homesick when i left and we WILL return to Roma and Mary! HIGHEST recommendation!!!!

Home base!

Mary did a great job communicating with us. Her responses were quick and helpful! The apartment had everything we needed and it’s location was ideal for exploring Rome. Very close to the metro and various markets. It is only about a 15 minute walk from the Vatican museum There are 2 parking garages close by if you arrive by car

Delightful apartment with a host to match

Our family of 2 adults and one 10 year old daughter loved our time in Rome. Mary was a wonderful host who helped make ours a personal experience and assisted in more ways than we could have expected. The home is spacious and clean and highlighted by the delightful garden with the fragrance of jasmine. The photos dont do it justice! It is very well located to train and buses yet still very quiet with double glazed windows. You will leave Rome with a new friend! Highly recommended, you can't go wrong here. Thank you again Mary...we do hope to see you again, perhaps in Australia! X

We actually stayed at her new property right next door.

Mary is a wonderful host! This newly-renovated apartment is light and bright with a nice patio. She has the place well-outfitted with cooking implements, pots/pans, laundry/dish soap, paper towels, etc. We were easily able to cook three dinners and all breakfasts there. It helps that a decent grocery store is just down the street and around the corner. The apartment has good wifi as well and she responds quickly to emails if you have any questions or concerns. The washing machine, while small, is efficient and easy to use. We appreciated the location which is a real Italian neighborhood and away from tourists even though the Vatican wall is right down the street. The bus stop is a two minute walk and the metro stop is five minutes (note: a tobacco shop selling bus/metro tickets and an ATM machine are a few blocks up the street on the left). We have booked with Mary before and both apartments are really functional and comfortable. I would suggest them for a couple, close friends (not a lot of privacy as very open plans), or a family. We will definitely stay at one of her apartments again whenever we are in Rome.

Great location, charming apartment.

Our first trip to Rome and could not have selected a better location! Mary arranged a driver for us from the airport and then meet us at the apartment. She was very friendly and helpful with suggestions and neighborhood info. The apartment was very close to the metro and it was very easy to navigate Rome. We had 3 adults and 2 children in our group. The apartment was very well stocked and nicely decorated with a charming patio. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the comfort of the beds. The sheets had some pilling which gave them a slight sandpaper feel. And the mattresses were not the best. However, everything else was good. I would stay there again with no reservation. But it was a little tight for 5 people and only one bathroom. I would recommend this property.

Best Easter Vacation Ever!

We rented this house for a Easter family get-together - it was quite out of season, being early spring - but we loved it and will definitely be back! Right from entering the property we felt at welcome – with its luscious garden, the intimate dining areas, and the blue pool that invites you to jump right in. The house is furnished with great care and maintained beautifully - the kitchen has everything a cook needs and the living- and dining rooms are inviting and comfortable. Each bedroom is furnished in a different style – so make sure to be the first to choose your favorite room! The most striking thing about this property is its atmosphere, with Provence style walls and clever landscaping, you feel as if you are in your own private idyllic haven. The house is located only a 3 min walk from the gorgeous old village, which is luckily not too touristy like some other of the villages in the South of France. I enjoyed the daily morning stroll to the local bakery to get fresh baguettes and croissants or see the shop owners opening their stores while enjoying a nice cafe au lait with a warm pain au chocolat at one of the lovely cafes. On Tuesdays you can even go and buy fresh produce at the weekly market. Another very French thing to do is people watch while having your pre-dinner aperitif at the local square, before strolling to one of the restaurants in Biot which are family friendly and serve delicious food. We made many different excursions, as just a short drive away are many of the most thought after shopping and dining destinations – Nice, Cannes or Monte Carlo but as well many more intimate locations like Valbonne or St. Paul de Vence. For our cultural cravings we found many guide books generously provided in the house. All in all - it was a great vacation and we will definitely be back!

Perfect apartment, perfect host

Mary was the perfect host in every way. From the speedy response to the accommodation being available at very short notice over a weekend, to the apartment being ready the following morning. It was the perfect base to explore Rome with the Vatican being just on the doorstep and the garden space was an extra bonus. The accommodation was like being home from home, we could not have wished for anything different. Mary made us feel very very welcome and ensured everything was as we wished for. With welcome text messages and wee notes left on the garden table Mary went out of her way to make our stay a special one. We look forward to staying there again the next time we are in Rome. Thank you Mary

There is something about Mary!

Although my plans to stay at Mary's rental in Rome for now have fallen through due a huge increase in airfare - I just wanted to say how helpful she was when we were emailing back and forth. I was surprised as how fast she got back to me (even with the time difference). I instantly felt that although we were thousands of miles away, we were already friends and I felt comfortable after the first email about the possibility of staying at her place. I'm hoping that airfare will go down in a couple of months and I might be able to contact her again.

Home away from home in Rome

We truly enjoyed our stay at this property, and would recommend it to others. It is located very close to the Metro, shopping, and the Vatican. The apartment was very clean, and the owner was always accessible for any questions we had. The one drawback is access to the bathroom upstairs, through the master bedroom only. We enjoyed the patio, and security was very good, with two locking gates surrounding the property. With the exception of some street noise, it was usually very quiet. There was some noise from the property next door, on the lower level only, late at night over the weekend. We did not bring this up to the owner, as it was not her fault. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, would return, and have already recommended it to others.
