Wonderful Stay!

My family of thirteen stayed here for our daughter's graduation this spring. We loved everything about the home from the family rooms with plenty of space to the waterfront view. The kids loved playing ping pong in the basement, hiking through the woods, going out on the kayaks and roasting s'mores in the fire pit. The kitchen is fully equipped and perfect for large groups. The house is cozy and beautifully decorated with great personal touches. If you are looking for a quiet retreat on the Maine coast with friends or family, this is the perfect find. Carla was always available and a great host. We will certainly remember this spot when we return to Maine.

Awesome Property

Pictures don't do it justice. This is a great house, beautiful views of the cove and easy to get around to other things to see and do in Maine. Can't say enough good things about the property, the owner (Carla is fantastic), and the house. We had 10 family members with us (Age range from 78 to 10) and all loved it. Outdoor Fire Pit was easy to use, 5/6 kayaks made for some fun outdoor recreation, and the floor plan was perfect for us. I was a bit skeptical about not having A/C (we are all from New Orleans) but the cool breezes off of the water made the house temperature and humidity perfect. Loved it and would book it again!

Perfect Maine Family Vacation Spot

We couldn't have found a better spot for our family vacation than Spruce Cove. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Carla, until we sadly left a week later, everything was perfect. The house itself is beautiful but not intimidating for a family with four children and so well equipped. Our favorite activity each day was having dinner together in the large dining room and then family fun around the fire pit. The new out door shower was a real treat. Our daughters said it is spa-like with the duel shower heads with the sound of the nearby wind chime. As much as we loved exploring Harpswell and points east and west, we all agreed that this special house and cove are the real treasures of the coast of Maine. Kayaking, hiking, and a spectacular view, this house has it all.Thank you for opening your home to our family. It is an absolutely magical spot.

Fabulous Maine vacation home located on the coast

We were looking for a large home for a family and friends reunion in Maine. This beautiful home, located on a secluded finger of the Maine coastline, was the perfect location. The property resides on six acres of land at the end of a private road which guarantees you the upmost privacy. The house sits at the top of a hill which overlooks a beautiful bay. Lots of trees and wildlife. We even saw a family of foxes on our morning walks. The house is huge! The bedrooms are large and most are framed with beautiful windows with views of the bay. The modern kitchen is equipped with professional oven and upscale granite counter tops. There is a lovely sunroom to sit in on rainy days. A large deck which is just outside the kitchen door is the perfect spot for evening entertaining. It includes a barbecue, large patio table and bar. If you and your friends decide to party into the night, the backyard has a large fire pit and you can play the music as loud as you want since no one will hear you except your guests. There are many activities available for you during the day. Hiking, sport fishing, boating are just a few of your choices. There are many good restaurants in the area and plenty of places to pickup fresh Maine lobster. If you want to get in the car to do some sight seeing, the scenic Maine coast which includes the Pemaquid Lighthouse, Portland Maine, and L.L. Bean's world headquarters are close by. I never wanted to leave this place. It was one week of "living life in the bubble". I can't wait to come back again.

Large private beautiful home

This house is exactly as described. It is a large home on a very private lot with lots of ammenitites. I will go over all the pros and cons of this home. Pros- large home with tons of space. This was perfect for my large family. The house was extremely well appointed. We are a family that enjoys cooking. Everything we needed was there. Great range, large fridge and freezer. Service ware for at least 12. Loved the fireplaces and pit. Being from Fl the weather was chilly for us, so it was pleasant for us to have some additional warmth. There were games and puzzles for the kids and adults. We really enjoyed doing a couple puzzles while overlooking the water. Home had amazing landscape. It was nice looking at everyday. We were 15-40 minutes from everything we needed to do. The homes location was perfect for us. Prior to arriving Carla sent information about the house and surrounding areas with map ( nice touch) she also had a cute welcome basket. My wife and mother loved this (it was very cute) and had the best scavenger hunt. This was perfect for the one rainy day we had. So much fun for the whole family. Carla, she was easy to communicate with and is a nice person. Cons- There were ticks everywhere (except the front yard) we didn’t get any hitchhikers there. However, walking the path to the dock, backyard, and fire pit, someone in our party had a hitchhiker. This of course was not the fault of Carla, it’s just a part of nature and Maine in June. Non the less, it limited the time we could spend outside. Ian, didn’t answer his phone. I tried him on two separate occasions. Carla, on the other hand, did, but I felt guilty having to call her. Couldn’t get the Apple TV to connect. Not a big deal to the adults, but we downloaded some new movies for the kids to watch at night that I couldn’t air stream. All and all, this house couldn’t of suited our needs more. A beautiful property, great owner and perfect for big and small families. If we visit the area again, we would not hesitate to rent this stunning home.

What a magical week!

Our family (4 children under 5, 6 thirty-somethings, and 2 grandparents) just got home from our incredible week at Carla's house. We cannot thank her enough for her hospitality and sharing her beautiful house with us. The love she has for her place, the community, and her state is evident. The location of the house is remote that you feel like you have the whole beautiful cove to yourself, yet you are minutes away from all you could need), including many places to eat-in or take out from, with some of the best lobster rolls we have ever had. We spent a day on a sailboat, went blueberry picking, enjoyed the sweet towns in the area, and flew kites on the beach. The setting of the house is just perfect. There is a short stroll down to the waterfront or a beautiful, well-maintained trail right from the front yard that both someone with bad knees and a third-trimester pregnant lady could do. The gardens were just beautiful We enjoyed a beautiful outdoor fire-pit complete with s'mores as well as a softball game with the kiddos in the front yard. There were mosquitos (nothing some bug spray couldn't take care of), but we never saw a single tick. Even though the environs and setting were perfect, staying inside Carla's beautiful house was a treat too! You have an incredible view of the water from the kitchen for wonderful family breakfasts and dinners. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked and labeled and big enough for all of us to create magical meals together. Our favorite spot, though, was next to the kitchen in the sunroom. Plenty of comfy places to sit (including an indoor porch swing) and read or just curl up for a cup of tea. There are other amazing living room areas too that each have their own character, filled with beautiful art and antiques. There is even a huge basement, so I heard, but I just realized that we had so much fun on the first two floors, I never even went downstairs! The bedrooms are each unique and comfortable with huge windows that gave our family lots of options (although 3 of the rooms had no blinds). There was an adorable kids' room complete with a small playroom that was just perfect. Although there is no air-conditioning, we were very comfortable as the house was also incredibly airy with plenty of fans. We were so sad to have to leave such a magical spot that is perfect for a group of friends or family coming together to enjoy each others' company and all of the beauty the area has to offer! Thank you, Carla!

Wonderful Week!!!!

Carla's home was absolutely wonderful. We were there celebrating my Mom's 90th birthday and all of us enjoyed everything about it, especially the big table near the kitchen with the wonderful view, the fire pit and the sunroom.

Maine Paradise

This is an unparalleled luxury home set above a private cove amidst a beautiful pine forest. It fit the needs of our multi-generational family very well. We especially appreciated how well equipped it was for paddle sports.

Beautiful property, peaceful and private. Bring your bug spray as they can be a nuisance.

Our family had a wonderful Maine experience in this warm and inviting home. If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen is equipped with “everything” you need and then some! The location is very convenient to many attractions and the owner was very responsive to the few needs we encountered. The scavenger hunt was a big hit with our group, along with nightly fires and s’mores on the outside patio. Lobster boil on the deck was such fun! Thank you for sharing your lovely home, we would love to come back!

Wonderful house and view !

Wonderful large house with a spectacular view. Kitchen is well stocked for large family meals in a dining room that easily sat 12 folks. House is close to excursions to great towns nearby- Bath and Brunwick, but we also just enjoyed sitting outside with the view and quiet surroundings. Kayaking during high tide was a favorite of some.

Gorgeous Maine retreat!

We came to Maine for a wedding with our extended family and were very lucky to find this beautiful property. Before you even enter the home, you take in a breathtaking view of the bay and all of Carla's horticultural prowess! The landscaping with its endless flowering plants truly adds another dimension to an already spectacular retreat. The house is large and very well appointed. It was quite comfortable and we made use of all of the amenities, including the grill, fire pit, games (loved the ping pong table and croquet set), dock and kayaks. The numerous kayaks provided endless hours of enjoyment exploring the bay and all of the wildlife around the area. The osprey nest filled with youngsters was pretty cool and we even bumped into some seals! Carla was very friendly and accommodating. A very relaxing vacation, perfect family spot! We very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you Carla!!

The Ideal Maine Escape

This beautiful property and home provide the ideal Maine coast experience. The house is welcoming, artistically decorated , spotless, very well-appointed and so comfortable. The setting and view are worthy of a landscape painting. Carla, the owner, is very responsive, accommodating and goes out of her way to make sure you have a wonderful experience. She provides extensive information about the property and the area to make sure your questions are anticipated and you have plenty of local recommendations including restaurants, activities and places to visit. You feel more like you are lucky enough to be staying in the home of one of your favorite relatives than going to a standard rental property. Perfect for a family gathering or any special get away.

Beautiful! Exceeds high expectations!

Our 3-generation family spent an unforgettable week in this beautiful home in August. The location, tucked away on the beautiful inlet, gave us endless hours of bird watching, exploring the water on the kayaks, and exploring the absolutely gorgeous gardens on the property. The location, while very private, was not so secluded that going to Harpswell, Brunswick, or Bath were big deals. Whether it was early morning yoga surrounded by a sea of daisies, discovering the surprises gained by a thorough tour of the property, grilling on the deck, or evenings in front of the fire pit, there was something for everyone outside. Inside, there was a room for every mood. The home is so beautifully and thoroughly appointed, we lacked for nothing. The kids loved the lower level for ping pong and indoor workouts, the sunroom was absolute perfection! The three living rooms offered spacious escapes for quiet time, boardgames, reading (from an extensive library) and tv. The bedrooms and bathrooms were as we would hope for our own home. The overwhelming feeling we had by being in the home, and from the communications with Carla, was that she had embraced us into her family, by sharing this very beautiful and comfortable and personal home. We felt very privileged for the opportunity. Thank you!

Wonderful home, and setting. Perfectly described.

We are a mixed age family group. All of us enjoyed the comfort and convenience of Carla's beautiful home. She is very hands-on and works to help you enjoy her property, and the boats that are available for your use. We loved cooking in the large kitchen, drinking coffee or other beverages in the sun room or around the fire pit, playing croquet on the grassy lawn, even watching Sharknado on Netflix. This property has everything to make your vacation successful. Really loved the kayaks.

The Mystical Maine

The home is set in a beautiful setting on the shore of a cove in Harpswell,Maine. The home is large, beautifully appointed and with many personal touches. It was far more luxurious than we anticipated. There are gardens everywhere and many flowers were in bloom. It was spotlessly clean and there was nothing that we neded that wasn't there to use. Kyaking and hiking were wonderful activities and I would recommend this home to anyone. In fact we are planning to return next year and I have already recommended it to a friend who is planning a visit to Maine.

Knockout location for a perfect family vacation.

Gorgeous, clean, and comfortable home with all the creature comforts for my extended family of 8. The kids and grandkids enjoyed the huge yard (complete with fireflies), garden and coastline. And I enjoyed eating my fresh lobster and sipping my wine on the veranda while watching them all play (and the stunning view of course). Great location near the quaint coastal towns, local restaurants and activities. We're planning our next year trip!

Top Notch for Everything

A truly tranquil spot that is very much home from home. The owner keeps the property in fine order and there is plenty of space and something there for everyone. Do try to avoid falling out of one of the canoes from the basement if you can as the shore is naturally muddy and a careless slip led to a smelly dunking. Fortunately, hot showers and towels fixed that problem..... That was the only problem. The location is well placed for those that want to explore the local area too and next time we visit we hear that there may also be a dock! This is managed by an owner that wants to do it right. You will be hard pressed to find a better place to stay and we didn't want to leave.

Excellent Vacation Rental

Nestled high above its own private cove, with easy access to a dock and canoes/paddleboats, stands Spruce Cove. Its spacious rooms, chock full of authentic New England treasures, each afford unique views of the stunning panorama below. The isolation and quiet of Spruce Cove, however, is supplemented by walks through woods and along island roads, and is only a quick 15 minutes from Brunswick ME and Bowdoin College. Thus, the combination of culture and natural beauty, sumptuous accommodation and alluring recreation on land and sea, provided me a most welcome respite from an overly busy schedule. Most highly recommend this unique and palatial home.

HI there- Here I am in front of my Maine home with one of my huge Dahlias- I have over many varieties that grow beside the house in the summer. My whole family are Mainers and my mom and dad met at the Brunswick naval air station long ago. My grandfather owned the town grain store in Bath and my great grandfather had a farm once attacked by Indians. Spruce Cove is a magical place and home to me and my grown boys
(occasionally) and many friends from around the world all summer. We come in the winter too for cosy retreats and snow andventures and contemplation.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property because my husband fell in love with it the minute he saw it and was so very happy here. It has a magical quality about it because of the tides coming and going , the wildlife and the tranquility. Every summer is filled with wonderful memorable times from the fairy twinkles of fireflies in the woods in June to the fall colors brilliantly shining off the cove in October.

What makes this property unique

You drive fifteen minutes from Bowdoin College and Brunswick
(only 30 from LL Bean) and find yourself in the most quiet serene setting of nature imaginable. Bald eagles soar overhead, baby foxes cavort on the walls around the garden and the tides ebb and flow teaming with birdlife and an occasional deer, stripers caught right in the Cove off of my kayak. And an oyster farm right in the cove!
