Cottage on Grand

Welcome to the Cottage On Grand! Take a 3 minute drive to Walker’s Bluff Casino & Resort, or a short bike ride to the local ice cream shop, bakery & antique shop. Southern Illinois University is 7 miles west of the property. Also located nearby are other local vineyards, incredible hiking, and Crab Orchard Lake. If you’d rather stay in, you’ll enjoy the fenced back yard & patio for al fresco dining. Air mattress is available upon request. Linens, towels & body wash all provided.

The space
One bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has two twins. The master has a 32" Roku TV. The comfortable living room also has a 50" Roku with the Roku channel and Netflix.

Comfy cottage

This was a nice spot to stay while visiting family nearby. It was easy to check in and out, clean, and there were plenty of extras provided (blankets, towels, snacks/coffee, and an info book about the area). The host was very helpful when I needed something! Recommended spot!

Home away from Home!

My daughter and I stayed 3 nights and loved Trent’s rental. The beds were quite comfy as well as the living room furniture. There are many thoughtful amenities available and it is tastefully decorated. Be aware however that there is not a washer and dryer. Wasn’t an issue for us though. Would stay here again!

Short stay

The cottage is very cute! We are very mold sensitive and since this is an old house, it is not suitable for those with sensitivities. The air fresheners were very strong to mask the musty smell. Otherwise the cottage is cute and clean.

Perfect house for visiting SIU

The Cottage on Grand was the perfect house for us, as we came to SIU for our daughter’s birthday. The house was clean. Check in was easy. The host was available to answer any questions. The house itself was a nice size, and even had K-cups for my morning coffee! Would definitely recommend.

Nice Cottage

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage on Grand. We were not sure about the area in the basement where the 3rd bedroom was set up, so we only used the rooms on the main floor.

Great Stay great location

We enjoyed our time at the Cottage on Grand. The beds were comfortable and the living area was welcoming and cozy too. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to the local bakery and enjoyed the quick drive to Carbondale.

Great place to stay.

Efficient and timely responses to any questions or concerns. Clean, relaxing and homey feel to the home. Good location seems like a safe neighborhood. Host was kind and cleaned snow off of porch and car. We will return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend a the Cottage on Grand. We appreciated the stocked kitchen, the coffee center, and the cleanliness of the house. The three ring binder on the coffee table regarding local informal and house check out expectations was also perfect! Thanks for a great weekend in beautifully southern Illinois!!

Cute place

Overall a great place to stay. Would have like to see more variety of glassware (there weren’t any wine glasses or pint glasses) but it didn’t make or break our trip. Loved the “fall” decorations and the communication with the owner was phenomenal!

Quaint cottage style residence close to SIU and other attractions. Everything from booking, check in and check out was smooth and easy! Thanks for making it a great stay for us!

Nice return visit

Easy to work with and fast response. Location is in the middle of everything. Older home with great wood floors, bathroom tiles, etc. A nice mix of updates and preserved cottage. Twin beds in the front and the double in the other room is perfect for us.

Girls getaway

The house is adorable. It comfortably fit the 5 of us. We spent the day at a winery and enjoyed visiting in the living room after. Communication and check in were great. The oven does run pretty hot. We made some frozen pizzas and we had to turn the temp down to keep them from burning. Location was great. We ate breakfast at Montgomery’s and that was amazing. Great experience!

Good value

The home is an older home which appears to have been built in stages. The floors are quite creaky and the age shows throughout. The worst issue for us was the noise of the street out front. We had expected less traffic in such a small town, although the owner made no such claim. The beds were excellent and there was plenty of hot water. The furniture is in good shape. In view of the price we felt it was a good value.

Lovely clean cottage

Very clean and comfortable; a lot of care obviously went into refurbishing it. Comfortable bed, nice linens. Kitchen appliances worked well, Keurig and snacks ready for us. It could use a toaster 😊 Take care in the tiny bathroom, the doorway is very low and tall guests might bang their heads. Nice outside areas a big plus. Would stay there again.
