We had a wonderful time staying at Scenic Solitude in Hocking Hills. The cabin is new and in great shape with a convenient location to get to most of the hikes. We will come back!
The cabin was perfect for our family's long weekend. Lots of room for us and our kids. The hot tub and arcade games were a big hit. The location was great for easily getting to Hocking Hills trails. The owner was great to work with and he was very responsive. I'd definitely return in the future.
We had plenty of room for my husband and I, our three adult children, two of their significant others and our two small dogs. Take note that the two twin beds are in the game room that goes out onto the lower patio and have no privacy (which the kids didn't really enjoy) if you plan to have adults sleep in them. We knew this going in though. We enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub, and the arcade games. We liked that the cabin was newer and not worn out from lots of years of visitors. The location was convenient to Hocking Hills. You could hear your neighbors if you were both outside, but there was a good distance between the cabins which we loved. The towels and washcloths could be upgraded as well as an addition of some extra bed pillows. The large dining table was perfect for all of the games that we played. I can imagine how beautiful the colors of the trees surrounding the property will be in the fall. The kitchen was well stocked with items needed for cooking even though it was very small. We prepared all of our meals there which was nice so that we could really enjoy just being at the cabin. We appreciated that there was plenty of dish soap, dishwasher pods and hand soap stocked so that we didn't even have to use what we brought. It might be helpful to have bigger rugs at the doors so that mud isn't tracked in as easy. It was muddy due to a lot of rain while we were there so I had to keep mopping up the floor by the doors. We LOVED our stay!
The house was great. We enjoyed our stay! A few things I would do next time is bring our own towels. The towels were kind of old and thin, more like rags than bath towels.
House is great. Clean, well furnished, good location. Only issue - probably with the cleaning service- we found a set of sheets & towels, wet, in the washer.
With our kids (all adults) spread over 3 states, we decided on the Hocking Hills area as a good central point for a long weekend get together. The cabin fit our needs perfectly. It was absolutely clean and had great gathering areas. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are bigger than expected. If you’re deep into cooking, you may want to check with the host as the basic utensils were there but nothing beyond that. The gameroom beds are great for kids but would leave little privacy for adults. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!
Stayed at this beautiful cabin with a couple of friends. We all had plenty of space, the surrounding area was peaceful and lovely. The communication with the owner was perfect.
Would definitely stay here again!
Had a great time with family. Everything was as advertised; very nice gas grill, fire pit area, hot tub, cabin was clean and stocked as advertised. Only negative thing was the WiFi was very weak, as one would expect but as soon as you drove not too far, you could pick up a signal. Two thumbs up, would definitely go back.
This place is a paradise for relaxing on vacation. Tastefully decorated and comfortable furnishings. The hot tub was so nice after a day of hiking and the fire pit area is perfect for chatting and winding down. Everything here is high end and we found everything we needed to make our home away from home for the week. We especially loved the screened in porch where we spent a lot of our time. The neighbor’s rooster was a hoot. John was super responsive and helped with suggestions and any questions. Treat yourself to a wonderful stay!!! Highly recommended!
The house layout allowed us to have our space yet the onsite fire pit and hot tub and nearby Hocking Hills hiking options allowed us to connect on so many other levels! My 30+ year old kids and 3&6 year old grandsons loved everything!
The home was excellent! Just as described. Very secluded from the other Cabins. Big and spacious with room enough for our 6 person family. Plenty of extra linens and towels. Great outdoor areas for relaxing and dining. The only downside I would say is that the hot tub seemed to be a bit dirty. We would definitely stay again as it was a perfect fit for what we needed!
The pictures didn't give this cabin justice. The woodwork is very beautiful. Lots of lights throughout the cabin, inside & out. The gas fireplace was wonderful & we kept it on most of the time. The game room was much bigger than expected. We also enjoyed having 2 coffee pots so a traditional one could be used to make a full pot for the whole family instead of a kurig . The stairs were wide & easy to take luggage up & down. Everything was very clean. Plenty of extra towels too. We loved almost everything about this cabin!
The things that could be improved are:
there's a sewage smell (OUTSIDE ONLY) once in a while, a few lady bug beetles & stink bugs that are probably worse in the fall, the hot tub didn't have extra chlorine so after the first day the small tab was dissolved. This was a high use area for our family so after the 2nd day it was very dirty. Having a hose available would have been helpful to refill it after 4 people were in it simultaneously. Also, having to walk through the gravel to the steps instead of having the steps on the side were the door is was difficult for people who didn't bring slippers or sandals.
However, none of these things would deter us from renting again because they were such minor inconveniences compared to the overall experience. Very beautiful cabin!!!!
We had an amazing time at John's cabin. It.was VERY clean and well maintained. The weather was a little warmer and we had some issues with flies, ladybugs and wasps in the cabin and the hot tub was very cloudy and we were unable to use it. Aside from those two minor issues it was a fantastic time and I highly recommend staying here.
Remote, but easy to get to. Very nice property. Plenty of room for the 7 adults. Loved the decor.
As the weather gets cooler, a few blankets would be appreciated. Kitchen sink faucet handle is loose.
Overall, most excellent experience. We will be back.
Property was immaculate. Great location and amenities for family. We really enjoyed our stay.
