Fall Haven

Kay’s Haven is a very cozy and peaceful place to enjoy beautiful Northern Michigan. Conveniently located to everything. And we proved we didn’t need TV to enjoy our time! We caught several fish off the pier as an added bonus! Definitely would return!

Great Labor Day stay at Kay's Haven

We just got back from Kay's and had a great time. The house is clean and cozy. The two main bedrooms are very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The trundle room has a doorwall which helped to keep it cool at night. We all loved the "Serenity Room" which has 6 doorwalls and great lake views. The kitchen table seated all 7 of us comfortably for game night. We used the grill to cook out and found everything we needed in the kitchen. We used two of the kayaks which were a bonus to have. The dock was very sturdy and we were able to dock our rental boat for pick up/drop offs very easily (even with the wind). On a cool day we sat on the street side on the wicker furniture and enjoyed that deck. There is another deck on the lake side that we didn't use. We saw the review about the cameras and saw one was on the outside facing the street and another one towards the lake. This all seemed reasonable and common to us. Anytime I had a question the host answered quickly. The trash was placed out by the garage (near the street) and was picked up when needed. We rented before there were any reviews and I was very pleased with the accuracy of her listing. One thing to note is there isn't cable but we were able to hook up our laptop through the Blu-Ray and watch some college football.

Charming Lakefront Cottage

This was a very charming, clean and well maintained cottage. The pictures on the website reinforced the beauty of the water and the quaintness of the cottage. I would have given it a 5/5 rating but the noise of route 31 could be heard when we were setting out back by the water. We live close to an interstate and didn’t expect to hear that loud of road noise. We would love to stay again in the future.

Spectacular Location

We started here with our family (5 kids) for a baseball tournament. The house was very clean and had spectacular views. We only wish it had a few things. To not be able to enjoy a small campfire while staying on the lake was upsetting to our kids. The window ACs struggle to keep the home cool in the warm summer days. There were cameras that also made us feel a little uncomfortable also. And somehow the trash can got emptied out every night while we slept. All in all it was nice but those were things we struggled with.

Kay's Haven was a wonderful stay

Quaint cottage on Crooked Lake. Our family had a great weekend and were talking about booking a longer stay next summer before the weekend was done.

Terrific Lakefront Cottage

Stayed here for 6 nights in late-July 2024. The cottage met all of our expectations and the location was perfect! The easy access to the lake for SUP, kayaking and even fishing from the dock was enjoyable for all of us (4 adults and 2 children 4 & 7). Conveniently located near Petoskey, Harbor Spry and Lake Michigan. We hope we can return next year!

Amazing stay!

Fabulous host and property managers! Communication was great and they were so friendly and helpful. The house was very clean and the sunroom is wonderful overlooking the lake. The kitchen was well stocked and beds were comfortable. We loved the kayaks and the large dock to sit on. State park is really close as well as DT Petoskey and Harbor Springs. Thank you for a great stay.

About the host

We are from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and have inherited the cottage from Mom, known to everyone as Kay. Kay loved the serenity found here and could not wait each year until it was warm enough to come back for Summer. She loved her neighbors and friends and enjoyed being able to host them and give them the opportunity to share in the joy she received here. She was often embroidering while conversing with her visitors or watching them play out on the water. All of the needlework found in the house was done by her, as well as the countless pieces that she has gifted to her friends and families. Kay was known for making the best cookies. Being able to bake cookies for others was a way for Kay to show her appreciation and love for others. There was never a shortage of cookies to go around. We do not have the opportunity to enjoy the house regularly as she did and want to pass on to others the love and serenity that can be felt when you are at Kay's Haven

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful as it is a dead end road. This makes it suitable for walking, listening to the birds chirp and watch the bunnies and chipmunks.

What makes this property unique

The lake, the charm of the home, and the surrounding nature.
