About this property

Gaia Yurt | Cedar Hot Tub | 1 hr to Skiing & Mt Rainier

Welcome to our community and charming rustic yurt village! Unwind in one of five artisan handcrafted and painted yurts that's nestled among 40 acres of forest with trails, wildlife, and nature to explore. Relax in our shared 7’ cedar hot tub and watch the sun set over our serene and picturesque property.

This listing is our 18' Gaia Yurt that honors the plants and animals we share this land with. You are invited to bask in nature and the beauty that surrounds you at The Grove.

A short walk from the yurt brings you to the community space with 24 hour access to a kitchen, full bathroom, dining table and a comfy area to lounge with musical instruments. Other amenities include a weight training gym, martial arts and movement space (inside the 4-car garage); two open, shared outdoor showers; a pool (summer only); a large patio; and grassy open space and a hammock.

In our community we create a beautiful, fun, and relaxing environment for our visitors, friends and community members that is alive with activity. Each time you visit, whether to stay in a yurt, camp or join us for an event being hosted here, we’re excited to show you all the ways we’re transforming the spaces and restoring the forest to its native habitat. We’re building our vision of an intentional community that is inclusive and inviting to all. You’ll find a peaceful oasis and, if you want, opportunities to connect with others in a rejuvenating, playful, and laid back environment.

Self check-in, 24 hours access. The gate code comes with the address closer to arrival as well as the codes to unlock your accommodations.

The owners live on-site in the upper floors of the geodesic dome house. At least one of us will be on-site to share our story, answer questions, or help you out. Curious about how this came to be? We invite you to get our attention and ask about all that we are creating. We love connecting with our guests and sharing our passion projects.

We are conveniently 10 minutes from Bonney Lake, 15 minutes from Lake Tapps, and one hour from Mt Rainier’s Visitors Center and once you are on the property it feels like you’ve been transported into the country.

Things to note! :)
* The gravel driveway is easy to navigate but during periods of heavy snow and ice, AWD is recommended and chains may be required, especially for 2WD vehicles.

* There's no electricity in the yurt itself, but there's plenty of places to charge a phone or device in the community spaces. The yurt is kept warm by a CO2 safe propane heater.

* The hot tub is clothing optional: There is one shared cedar hot tub and please note that the hot tub is a clothing optional area - this only applies to folks actually in or next to the tub on the deck, not the property at large. In the two plus years we’ve been doing this folks have been great - either wear a suit or not based on your comfort level. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave if they behave inappropriately.

Park to the right of the driveway, across from the yurt in designated parking areas. Please do not park on the grass or dirt on the left in between the yurts.

The gravel driveway is about ¾ mile long and it’s one way. There are two gravel pull outs for passing oncoming cars. Please drive slowly.
*Quiet hours on the property are from 10p-8a
*Smoking allowed outside but NOT w/in 10ft of any structures (throw your butts in the nearby trash cans)
*All pets must be on leash at all times (please clean up after them)
*Extra guests are allowed (for an event for example) but must be pre-approved by the hosts (just shoot us a message and let us know what you're planning)
*We reserve the right to require any unapproved or disruptive guests to leave

The bathroom situation is disgusting. The two compostable toilet stalls (outhouses) were packed to the top with waste - almost so you were sitting on other peoples poo. Why don't they clean them out? Also, the only available water for brushing your teeth is non-potable (meaning - you should not use for brushing your teeth) and the water was freezing cold. In the common area where there is a toilet - quite a hike from the yurt - and used by ALL the residents had one towel for drying your hands and was not changed out for the two nights, three days we were there. The TP ran out and there were no spare rolls anywhere to be found. The common area (music room, bath and kitchen area) STUNK! No fresh air at all. The bed was decent but the sheets were some cheap polyester blend. They also want you to strip the bed and duvet but charge you $25 plus a $20 fee. I think the hosts change sites to dodge bad reviews like mine - no way, there are 11 positive reviews and only 11 since they've been in business for over 3 years. Go elsewhere is my recommendation.

When you drive in, its surrounded by ferns and native plants that make it feel very welcoming

We arrived at 3, the instructions were very transparent and we found our yurt right away. We had dinner in the shared kitchen as we arrived and found everything we needed from buns for burgers, and condiments. I met the host and she was helpful in helping direct me to the kitchen thank you for a peaceful place for us to unwind will definitely book this place when we are up here again!

We were looking for a peaceful place and this was perfect. The thoughtfulness that has gone into planning everything is quite evident. The shared bathrooms with composting toilets were easy and super clean! Would highly recommend and would stay again.

Love the vibes

Community oriented while not forced. If you want to hangout with others it’s a great environment to do so—but if you don’t want to, you don’t have to.

Quiet, Relaxing Getaway

Went to a concert at White River Amphitheater so decided to stay here for the weekend. We had been told that getting out of the white river amphitheater could take hours but we were able to be back to the yurts in 25 minute. I'm not sure if we just got lucky or if it was because most of the other concert goers were going the opposite direction to Seattle. My wife and I really enjoyed our time at Grove Getaways. They have 5 yurts and we stayed at the one furthest from the main house. The main house has the kitchen/bathroom/communal area so we would have to walk a little further to get to those things but still was only a 5-minute walk and it was nice being off by ourselves. It also looks like they are building an outhouse near the further away yurts which will be nice. The yurt was very comfortable and clean. It was a hot weekend (80s) so we were a little worried the yurt would be hot inside but the trees around provide great shade for most of the day and the yurts are insulated so that seemed to help. Hope to stay at the Grove Getaway again!!
