Located in the desirable Warrior's Mark neighborhood, the Obtuse Moose Chalet is the perfect location for the full Breckenridge experience; skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, shopping, and dining are easy to access right out the front door. Or stay in and enjoy cooking a meal in the well-stocked kitchen. It is the perfect place to enjoy your downtime and reconnect with your loved ones. When you return from your adventures, snuggle up in front of the gas fireplace and enjoy a hot chocolate or a glass of wine or lay on the luxurious carpet and play one of our board games. We provide the games and hot chocolate, you make the memories.
The Obtuse Moose Chalet is filled with history and memorabilia from Breckenridge both old and new including vintage ski maps, antique skis, and vintage snowshoes. Wait for the bus on a bench made from the recently retired "5 Chair" ski lift. It is truly the Breckenridge experience!
Why choose our property:
11AM check-in and 11AM check-out standard with no additional charges.
You get the benefit of a three bedroom for the price of a two bedroom. A spacious main bedroom with three large windows bringing in abundant light and views of the mountainous peaks. The second bedroom has a full wall and door dividing it in two. One half of the room has a full day bed with a twin trundle that slides underneath when not used. The other half of the room has a bunk bed with a full bed on the bottom and a twin on the top. Both sides of the room have their own closets. With five beds in three sleeping areas, it is an ideal set up.
We are steps from the Breck FreeRide bus which will take you throughout Breckenridge. You can park your vehicle when you arrive and then leave it the rest of your stay avoiding all of the hassle and expense of finding parking in the Historic District or at the ski area. The FreeRide also connects with the Summit Stage (also free) so you can even visit Alma, Fairplay, Leadville, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Dillon, and Araphaoe Basin without having to drive.
Our kitchen is stocked with the essentials and many fun amenities; a microwave, griddle, slow cooker, rice cooker, utensils, mugs, plates, bowls, baking dishes, pots and pans, measuring cups and spoons, a cookie sheet, muffin tin, and a selection of commonly used spices. In addition, we provide a Keurig as well as a drip coffee maker. We provide a delightful assortment of Keurig coffees and teas for your enjoyment. We also have a hot water pot with tea bags and hot chocolate as well as instant oatmeal packets so you can hit the ground running in the morning. We also provide paper towels, trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and kitchen towels.
The home includes beautiful knotty alder cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, granite counter tops, a brick gas fireplace, a beautiful mesquite six-person dining table, a heated, vibrating, vegan, leather full-recliner chair that is perfect for loosening those stiff muscles after a day on the mountain, and a full keyboard with headphones. We also provide books and games.
We have multiple charging stations through out the home.
We provide mitten dryers/warmers so that after a full day outside, you'll be ready to go the next morning.
Every awesome adventure ends in laundry so we have a high-capacity washer and dryer as well as a drying rack in the laundry area. The main bedroom has a full desk, chair, and lamp if you need an office space.
We have secured storage for skis/snowboards on the deck.
This oasis in the mountains does not have a television. We find that most people prefer to watch/game/whatever on their own devices. We do have high speed internet for all of your internet needs.
Many places have long lists of mandatory check-out items but we only have three things we ask you to do before you leave. 1. Start a load of sheets and towels in the washing machine. 2. Load your dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start it. 3. Lock the door when you leave.
The layout of the Obtuse Moose townhome:
It's a warm, welcoming home with many upgrades throughout. Enter through the back door from the private, paved, free parking lot. Spaces for two vehicles are available. The main level has the kitchen, a half bath, the dining area, and living area. The front door leads to a deck and the front yard. At the end of the front yard is the bus stop. The bedrooms, laundry, and full bath are on the 2nd floor.
Things to be aware of:
We love kids and welcome families and we have an extensive selection of books, games, and toys for young kids, tweens, and teens. Please be aware, however, that our home is not child-proofed so if you require outlets to be covered, a gate at the top of the stairs, or the fireplace to have a bumper, then our home is not for you.
We have a lot of wild animals, including some that can be dangerous if approached or bothered. These include fox, raccoons, bear, and moose. Do not approach a wild animal and never attempt to feed them. Do not leave trash outside. This can create dangerous situations for you and future visitors. Instead, please enjoy all of the wildlife photos hanging in our home that our trails cams have taken.
Breckenridge is located in a beautiful, high-altitude alpine environment and is world famous for its summer weather and winter sports. Please be prepared for walking, recreating, and driving safely at this altitude and in conditions that may exist in this environment including lightning in the summer. In the winter, there will be snow and ice on the property and the surrounding community. The parking lot and town streets are generally plowed after snow storms. However, even with the plowing, they are frequently snowy, slippery, and icy so appropriate footwear, vehicles, and tires are a necessity.
This is not an allergy-free home.
We do not have air conditioning. You’re at 9,000 feet. It’s not usually hot. If it is hot open a window and it will cool off quickly.
The fine print (Okay, it’s the same size as the other print but there’s a lot more of it. You really should read it all so everyone has the same understanding.):
