Beautiful lakefront stone cottage located on a large sandy beach formally known as Char-Nel-Shores! The home has 5 bedrooms, three full baths with firs floor half bath and large private sun room .There are 2 master bedrooms one on first floor with en-suites. Enjoy plenty of beach walking and swimming.

Entertain with three patios, fire pit, and relax every evening watching wonderful sunsets from the double swing, the full size carousel horse , three tables or the abundant beach chairs. From the yard and beach you can see several islands,many species of birds such as eagles, blue herons, white egrets, duck families,sand pipers. and diving terns. From the back yard you can walk almost a mile east and west in knee deep water with a sandy bottom. .

Spacious Home

My family enjoyed the view of Lake Erie and the shallow waters along with a sandy beach for the little ones to enjoy. The house has four very large bedrooms and multiple bathrooms. It was close to many attractions and to all the stores that you need.

Cute lake house

We stayed at the property for a wedding occurring in Port Clinton. The home is very spacious. Perfect location. Gorgeous view! Loved the private beach. Only suggestion is to bring extra pillows as there are only 2 pillows on each bed.

Great property for Women's Weekend

Our annual Women's Weekend was held in Port Clinton, OH this year and we wanted to be near the water & we were RIGHT ON the wster! The house was very clean, all bedding provided,& a firepit for the evenings!! ALL the women loved the place & would love to return! Thank you!!

Not as expected

We didn’t want to write a bad review, but the owner has not replied to my messages. Upon checking in we saw the beds were not made (no big deal) but the mattresses were dirty and there were no mattress covers. The mattress on the twin bed might have been ok for a small child, but was terrible for an adult to sleep on. Most of the bedrooms did not have a dresser, so clothes were laid out in piles along the wall or people lived out of their suitcases for a week. There was a grill (as listed) but no propane (as expected). The kayak/canoe was unusable. The piece at the bottom of the refrigerator was broken, so we put it in the closet to avoid an accident. It’s 2024 - we were surprised there was no recycling container! Maybe that’s typical in Port Clinton. And a 26” TV in the living room? But the most disturbing thing was when 3 people came through the yard and sat on the private beach. We thought they were trespassers (if not worse) but they told us they owned the property between the 2 houses. This was weird and the least the owner could have done is told us in advance that they might be coming. We had a fabulous week, the location was great, we saw beautiful sunsets, but doubtful that we would ever return or recommend this house to others.

Upon check in We all realized that none of the beds were made, perhaps its the owners policy and we missed it. Our first night there some of us were out on the back deck close to the water and some older man and I guess his son puled in the driveway, got out of their car, and walked up and sat next to us. This was at 9:30 at night. We asked who he was and he said he was the owner of the lot between the 2 houses. He sat there for about and hour and left. This was very strange. The house was advertised as having a kayak and canoe, all we could find was an old kayak burried in some over grown brush that was burried. We reached out to the owner and he never replied to our questions about it. The back of the house has no lighting so bring flashlights. My son slept on a couch down stairs and got bitten up by insects, so only sleep in the bedrooms. The AC was working and it has a great view for sunsets, so theres that I guess.

Family Vacation Fun

Three generations gathered for a wonderful vacation on the lake. We have been making an annual trip to Port Clinton each summer and were able to get everyone together in one location. It was great having the beach just outside the doorstep for relaxation and fun.

Family vacation

The house was perfect for our family. The inside was clean and perfect amount of space. It truly is a wonderful place. It is the outside that needs work. The beach was ok but the water was so full of algae the kids would not go in. It was black . The outdoor shower didn’t work and the hose is hard to get to because of tall grass and debris. There is a cord running outside from porch to pump that has exposed wires. We loved this house ! Loved the inside so much and we had a great time being together but I needed to be honest about the outside.

Nice house in a nice area

We were 2 families with kids, plus Grandma who stayed four nights. Great house! Nice layout. Nicely updated. House was clean at check-in. Sheets were folded on each bed for us to put on. Beach has a lot of debris, (Lots of birds around and very shallow water so there were lots of fish bones.) I messaged the owner and he responded right away --directed me to a rake in the shed which solved the problem. Water is very shallow and calm allows for a lot of seaweed growth, but it didn't bother anyone. Kids played in the sand and swam. (Water is really warm because it's so shallow. We went to Cedar Point one day, Put-in-Bay another, Very close to Port Clinton. Sat near the water on the 4th and saw fireworks from all around. Overall a great house. We hope to return.

We were born and raised in Findlay Ohio and have two children who live and work in the Port Clinton area along with our two grandchildren that love playing and swim at our cottage. My wife and I have sold real estate for thirtysix years and own the Re/max for Ottawa Co. We moved to Port Clinton 15 years ago and have had a great experience with all the opportunities and amenities the area has to offer.This is our personal home 8 months out of the year and in the summer we move to Lakeside where our grandchildren also enjoy.This is a wonderfull place to visit while vacationing in our area as it takes you back to the ways we lived in the 1800s.

Why they chose this property

We always wanted to own a house on the lake but we though we could never afford it and then a twist of fate gave us a chance to own our little piece of the lake through a real estate partnership that included converting an old hotel called char-nel shores into residential lots which we have since sold.Our house is all that is left from the original property.We have added a garage and 4 seasons -bedroom,new granite kitchen,2porches,shower,new walls and carpet.The furniture is not what you would expect to find in a rental as we have many amish pieces with upscale beds .new refrigerator,dishwasher,and new washer and dryer.

What makes this property unique

Not only does our house have a sandy beach but we have great views of the beautifull sunsets. We are also just one mile from Kroger and Wall-Mart. We also have over 100 restaurants in the summer within a 10 mile area.You can see 4 Lake Erie island from back yard. We tore old cottage down 2019 and built a brand new 2 story for 2020 season.
