This house is so sweet but yet has plenty of room for guests. It has everything you need to spend a few days. It’s close enough to several towns with historic main streets, restaurants and antiques. We stayed I January but summer would offer even more things to do and enjoy.
This space was exactly what we needed for our 1st annual girls weekend with grandma, daughter, daughter in laws and granddaughters. We walked down ro sip and savor for supper the 1st night and came back to enjoy eachothers company while we played games.
We were here for just one overnight. We found our stay to be very comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood, with plenty of room. We would stay at this home again if we were in the area.
Was in the area for a wedding and this was close to venue. Was clean and served us well for an overnight. Would definitely stay again. Hosts stopped by to ask if it was okay to do yard work. Which was really nice of them because in reality they did not need to.
We had a wonderful stay at the 1896 guest house. It was a perfect landing spot after a couple full days of activities for my aunt’s 101st birthday. The house is so cozy and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more!
We needed a place near Decorah for the last night of our girls trip. This house was the perfect fit for the 4 of us. We walked a block to go for supper that night. And had a nice dinner with drinks, and played cards too at Sips and Savors! We closed the night with a yarn/wreath craft in the living room at the house. The next morning we had coffee before we checked out and headed to Decorah. Thanks for the cute house rental!
This was perfect for our girls trip to Decorah. We all had our own bed and space to spread out. The beds were so comfortable and the place had everything we needed. There is only 1 bathroom so if you don’t like going down narrow, creaky stairs at 2am to pee then you might want to sleep in the main floor bedroom!
My husband and I stayed as we had a wedding to attend in town. This is a great house for a great price! Heidi, the owner, is extremely kind, has excellent customer service, and communication is super quick! Highly recommend!!!
We needed somewhere to stay for a local wedding and this was cheaper than the hotel options and gave us so much more space. The house was clean and cozy.
The stay was absolutely perfect! My bridesmaids and I stayed for my wedding and getting ready. Perfect location, hosts are amazing and go above and beyond, the upstairs where the twin bed is in that nook is the PERFECT spot for pictures of dress and getting ready.
Cozy and welcoming vintage home. Well appointed with great attention to detail. Lots of nice touches like half and half, water in fridge, lots of extra pillows, towels and interesting decor.
Another great night at The 1926 Guesthouse! My son and I stayed here following a wedding in the area. The guesthouse had everything we needed and more. The host has thought of everything! We look forward to our next stay! Thank you, Heidi!
The house was everything advertised and more. Comfortable, clean, well stocked, with comfortable beds, charging stations, and plenty of water stocked in the fridge! The stairs were a little steep but that was the norm for that age of a house and the handrail was sturdy enough to ensure our safety.
Note that the house has one bathroom only, so be sure you plan around that if you have multiple people in your party!
The only suggestion I would make to the property owner is they might want to consider adding a few mixing bowls to the housewares in the kitchen-I made biscuits one morning for breakfast but had to use a pot to mix them in.
But I will most certainly recommend this property, and it will be first choice for my family when we come back to the region!
Neat, older country decor give this property are real homey feel. Very comfortable, firm bed yielded a great night's sleep. Like all houses of this vintage, the property only has one bathroom with a single sink. Larger families might find this constraining.
