About this property

Cattail Cottage, on Green Lake Road, Dedham, Maine

This stylish little gem, surrounded by forest, sits on the edge of a large marsh cove on Green Lake. Located between Bangor, a major shopping area and Ellsworth, the gateway to Acadia National Park. It sleeps 4, or 5, if one is a child (6 to 12 yrs). Bar Harbor and entrance to the park 45 minute drive, Ellsworth or Bangor, 20 minutes. Surrounded by mature oak and ash, but close to the lake and cattail marsh, it is a great area for birders. Pets allowed for a fee, but must be discussed first.

There are two bedrooms, one is a loft bedroom with a stair/ladder and includes a queen size bed and skylight. One bedroom is downstairs across from the bathroom and has a double bed. There is a convertible love seat/cot bed, which a child of at least 6 years can sleep on, in the sitting area downstairs. The cottage can accomodate 5 people in a pinch, but it is better suited to 4 or fewer. The queen size bed in the loft is reached by a stair/ladder. There is a complete kitchen, dining table, and sitting area leading out through the french doors to the deck. There is a lovely wrap around deck accessed by french doors that makes you feel like you are living in a tree house.

The deck is high so this listing is not suitable for young children.

The water in the cottage is colored by tannins. We have a filtration and UV system in place. The water is not unsafe, but as a precaution we have supplied extra water for drinking and cooking.
You will have the entire house and access to the lake, which is part of the property but not visible from the house in summer. Cattails abound and provide a haven for wildlife. The owner will occasionally come by to work on the future walkway to the water.

Pets must be crate trained and must be discussed before booking. There is an extra fee. The owner may come by occasionally to work on the future boardwalk to the lake. The house is very self contained with a complete kitchen and has a washer and dryer. The owner will leave essentials to get you started but you should plan on bringing what you need for your stay. The cottage is located about 45 minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park.

This cottage is not appropriate for small children.

Cattail Cottage Treehouse

The Cattail Cottage is nestled in the trees along Green Lake. Although no lake view or access, it’s the perfect home base while exploring northern Maine. Downtown Ellsworth has a variety of restaurants and shops. Exploring Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Stonington and Castine is a step-back in time. The ample kitchen supplies afforded the opportunity to prepare and enjoy a lobster dinner with tasty local corn and tomatoes! The cottage is clean with modern amenities and Richard was very responsive to requests and provided lobster cooking tips! All-in-all, a good time was had by all. Cheers! hosts are very responsive.

July 4th with Family

We used this property as overnight beds so others would not be so cramped at the main camp. It was great for us. Would use again in a heartbeat!
