Lovely cottage

The cottage itself were lovely and very clean. The listing itself was disappointing in that there are only 3 bedrooms and not 4 as listed in the description. The host was very helpful in places to visit and things to do in the area.

Our Week at Aisling Cottage

Our stay at Aisling Cottage was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. It was close to all the places we wanted to visit in the Burren. The cottage was comfortable and had all the necessary conveniences covered for our family. The garden was lovely. Connie was a gracious host. Tea and delicious sweets were available when we arrived. We would definitely stay there again!

A beautiful cottage

We had the most wonderful time at Connie’s cottage. The hospitality was amazing & Connie was a fantastic host. It’s a stones throw to some of the most beautiful villages, coastline and restaurants in Ireland. I will be again.

Delightful Cottage

The first thing I have to note is how good the tap water tastes! I was pleasantly surprised how crisp it tasted. The cottage and Connie were so wonderful, left my family feeling like we were in a fairytale. The bright colors inside and full garden in the back made our visit so beautiful and happy. I would highly recommend staying here!

Colourful cottage

Just off the road to The Cliffs of Moher but tucked away. Very little road noise (especially in evening and at night). Very comfortable indoors and lovely garden outside- shared with second let. Lovely cakes on arrival - thank you! Kitchen was OK though matches needed for lighting stove.

The Burren is absolutely stunning!

We loved our too short stay at this cute cottage. Lots of space, beautiful decor inside and a garden oasis outside. One night we sat in the backyard and watched the crescent moon slip beneath the mountains. Our kids loved the friendly cat and seeing the cows next door. Connie was so helpful with advice about places to visit. We chose the location for its proximity to Galway but we never made it. Hope to return to the Burren someday and hike the mountains.

A delightful, colourful and warm stay.

The Burren is such an exceptional landscape, and at the end of the lane was an estuary with curlew and other wonderful birds. The cottage itself was delightful, very colourful and warm - and excellent hosts on hand next door.

Excellent

We had a lovely stay in The Burren on the Wild Atlantic Way at Connie and Sean’s cottage. The house was sweet and comfortable with a beautiful garden. Connie is an authority on the area suggesting restaurants and places to visit. The best place was The Parmfumery. A lovely place tucked into the Irish countryside. A great place to visit while exploring the area.

Fabulous purple cottage

The purple cottage is the perfect base for a west Ireland stay. Connie is a wonderful host and the property could not be more charming. Walk from your driveway down to the water in the evening after a day of discovering all that the Burren, Galway, and Doolin have to offer. A truly lovely experience. Thank you!

Exploring the Burren

We have waited until the children had grown for our self indulgent trip botanising on the The Burren. We were utterly delighted with our visit. We enjoyed a great welcome from Connie and Sean. The cottage was good both as a very mellow place to hang out but also as a base for exploring and walking. Beautifully equipped with the things you might need and those you didn't know you did!

Amazing retreat

Words cannot describe the peace and positivity that surrounds this cottage and the Burren. The cottage was even nicer than the pictures and Connie and Sean were incredibly kind and helpful. The “fairies” even brought us delicious baked treats twice during our stay bringing an extra touch of magic to the trip in our daughters’ eyes. We also found the location to be perfect for exploring the region. I recommend taking a walk with Mary and anything else Connie recommends. We took her up on most of her suggestions and were always happy we did. Thank you Connie and Sean for an amazing holiday!

The cottage of Sean and Connie Tyrrell is truly Aisling

We immediately felt at home at the cottage. It was perfect for two couples in that it provided three good common rooms, and bedrooms that allowed a retreat from the group. The charm of the cottage, surrounding area as well as our hosts have motivated us to plan another trip to this area of Ireland again...soon! Connie and Sean were such gracious hosts and introduced us to new friends who shared our love of traditional Irish music. Rustic, charming and of true value. The lovely garden is inviting and the interesting collection of books, textiles, personal objects appeal to all our senses. Very comfortable and a wonderful place to be quiet and creative.

Garden of the gods.

Connie met us with a very warm smile, Buttons and Home made cup cakes. It's May and Connie probably has the greenest thumb I've every seen. Every plant in her garden (football field size yard) was blooming and bursting with colors. The birds were singing. We could walk down to Bell Harbor on our own little private road. Questions were answered immediately. She introduced us to her friend, an 8th generation local who brought us on personal tours of the Burren. Simply Amazing. Thank You

Cosy cottage with lovely owner !

Everything was as described. House is very cosy and lovely. You need a car to move around the area. We took small day trips to Cliffs of Moher and Galway. Roads are narrow and they felt even more narrow because I had to drive on “wrong side of the road” ;) The owner, Connie lives just next door and she is just a wonderful warm lady ! When we were in flu, she brought us some medicine (Jameson etc.) Place is very peaceful almost only voices you can hear is birds and cows. All the furniture in house was good, especially I have to mention beds. They were great. We really enjoyed those few days we spent in Aisling Cottage! Thank You Connie !

Superb accommodation!

Hosts, Connie and Sean, were every bit as welcoming and delightful as their cottage is colorful. This comfortable and charming home was perfectly located in the countryside of County Clare for exploring the Burren and Galway. The Burren contains many treasures large and small and all are worth investigation. Connie and Sean were generous with their time and recommendations, which we followed almost to the letter. We were never disappointed in so doing. In our all too short time, we found many atmospheric pubs in which to sip a pint, have a bite to eat and interact with the locals. We had an easy drive to the cottage from Dublin Airport (2.5 hours) but would recommend flying into Shannon if that’s an option for an even easier experience. As I said in the cottage guest book: Our all-too-brief time at Connie and Sean’s provided us with just a few delicious nibbles of what County Clare has to offer; we hope, in the not-too-distant future, to be able to return for a full meal. Thank you so much for an incredible home away from home.

Perfection!

My sisters and I and our husbands came to County Clare to explore our family roots. The six of us had a wonderful stay at Aisling Cottage. We were met by Mary, who showed us around the cottage, how to operate heat and Wifi, and offered us a wonderful taste of Ireland. We found the cottage cozy and comfortable. We started every morning with a home cooked breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen, and enjoyed many evenings playing games by the peat stove. Perfectly located, the cottage was a great hub for our travels to Galway and all parts of County Clare. I highly recommend taking a walk on the property toward the water. Beautiful. And do go out at night.......look up....the Milky Way is spectacular in the expansive Irish sky (I wish I could post my photo here!). I will be back again....and again....and again.....Aisling Cottage will be my home away from home when I return to Ireland. Thanks Connie, Sean and Mary for sharing the magical cottage and your beautiful Ireland with us! Regina, Jeanne and Pat O’Loughlin and our husbands Lennie, Tim and Dave

Not what we expected

This property was disappointing and did not match previous reviews or the listing which gave the impression of being welcomed by tea and treats but that was not the case. The place was cleaned but not thoroughly as in the living room was covered in cobwebs and you always expect a few but this was bad. It also smelled super damp so we didn’t even use that area. There was another room at one end of the house that thankfully we didn’t need to use but if we had it had a window crawling with flying ants. Also this room was above what we were told was an office used by one of the owners and as this was a whole house rental that was not disclosed. There were no visible smoke alarms or carbon monoxide alarms. The sink tap is broken and held in place by silicone and does not appear to be on plan to get fixed. Gas stove was not great to light. Had to ask for toilet paper and paper towel and the kitchen had some condiments with dates from 2013! There was feces from some outside animal just left on a window ledge I could not understand how no one addressed it. I would not stay here again and it needs some serious issues addressed.

This area of the Burren was so special to us for its music, beautiful walks, stunning coastline and warm friends and neighbours We would love to have you join us on your next holiday to Ireland.

Why they chose this property

My late husband and I both fell in love with the area before we met each other and by the time I met Sean, he had found and bought all two walls, a chimney and a half acre of wilderness. He had left it sit for a few years until I came along. Then together with help from good friends we slowly renovated the cottage. To be honest the whole place has been a labour of love. We were always planning and scheming about what needs doing next. Sean passed away in 2021 but I continue to live and love Aisling for all the wonderful memories it has provided and the good times to come.

What makes this property unique

One of the first thing that seems to appeal to our guests time and time again is the warm peaceful energy that the cottage and garden holds. The cottage has always been a home for creative people it is a place that feeds and inspires the imagination.
Amongst the top five things that visitors like to do while visiting the Burren is a guided walk with Mary O Dea Hidden Burren Walks
These guided walks are lead by a women who can trace her Burren roots back eight generations. Her knowledge of the traditional methods of Farming and protecting this special area makes a walk a wonderful experience and a must for anyone who wants to get the inside track on Burren life past and present.
