YOUR ARRIVAL AT FORNACI

Our local representative will personally escort you to our Villa. You will be given a tour of the Villa and its features, an instruction booklet and a guide to the surrounding area and attractions. You can ask questions and request assistance arranging outings and booking chefs or cooking classes at home.

After a long day of travel, upon your arrival, your only thought should be to relax, so we provide our guests with a WELCOME BASKET filled with delicious, locally sourced essentials to carry you to breakfast the next day and beyond. Some items included in the basket; (white and red wine, water, fruit juice, pecorino, Parmigiano cheese, olive oil, bread and other staples like honey, jams, cereal, etc.).

We highly recommend that our guests have a car at their disposal. Three large covered parking spaces are reserved for our guests' exclusive use. We ask that you only use the parking spaces reserved for your use. In keeping with the rules of the Consortium of Villa Arceno, the roads, and all aspects of the estate, are maintained as they were in their original state centuries ago. As such, the surroundings are tranquil, and the unpaved roads allow for long, peaceful walks, cycling or jogging on the estate.

The main house has comfortable sleeping accommodations for six (6) guests. Should your family or party be larger, we can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests by taking advantage of the guest house (located within our private courtyard). These accommodations are exclusive to you and your guests.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The main floor features a large primary bedroom with an adjacent, luxurious bathroom, a library/lounge and a second full bathroom. The upper floor houses two bedrooms with double beds, wardrobe storage and another full bathroom.

The guest quarter (opened for parties over six guests or upon request) is located in the private courtyard and features a large room with two single beds that can be used as a double bed, a large wardrobe, a large bathroom and A/C.

If you travel in a large group, there won't be any fights for the showers!

EATING AND COOKING

For the enthusiast or professional cook, the Villa features a fully equipped kitchen, an open concept living/dining room with a vast original wood-burning fireplace and a dining table (in the style of a "fratina rinascimentale") that can seat 12.

Dine al fresco in the private courtyard while sipping wine from the vineyards on the grounds estate. Our courtyard also features an original, centuries-old wood-burning oven that has been skillfully restored and is now perfectly ready to make delicious pizza, porchetta or anything that may require a wood-burning oven!

You can enjoy a meal and BBQ in our privately owned and extensive gated park, to which only you have access. The grill set atop antique bricks and the sizeable white-stone table and benches will create the perfect setting for an outdoor lunch. How about a lamppost-lit dinner in the shadow of an ancient oak tree? You may choose to pack a picnic and enjoy the shade of our olive grove.

Should you not wish to cook, we can help to arrange for PRIVATE TUSCAN MEALS to be cooked at the house. We can also pre-arrange for a COOKING LESSON at the Villa, and it will be a meal to remember.

THE OUTDOORS OF VILLA ADAGIO

If you like to walk in the open air, the private park, accessed though iron gates, offers over 60 thousand square feet of land. The Villa's private landscaped garden is rich with cherry, walnut, pomegranate, fig, apricot and almond trees. Our 80-tree olive grove enjoys expansive countryside views, including the distant Monte Amiata. You can walk among our olive grove or sit and wait in silence to watch the deer and wild boars that, in the distance, cross the park in the hours of dawn and dusk while searching the sky for pheasants and falcons. Or take in the Tuscan air while enjoying our tree hung swing in the shaded part of the garden.

Read a book or sip a cocktail while taking in the breathtaking views from our Loggia, and should you be able to move from there, enjoy a dip in the outdoor salt water swimming pool. Equipped with loungers and umbrellas. Pool depth : 47" to 86". Pool dimensions : 44' x 19'. Please note that the pool, although rarely used, is shared by the guests and residents of the private Fornaci compound, and it is open from May 15 to Sep 15. Access to the pool area is allowed from sunrise to sunset, 8 am to 8 pm and in any case not beyond sunset.

The courtyard is furnished with a dining table, chairs and an umbrella, while the Loggia with cushioned lounge chairs and side tables.

THE ESTATE

Our villa Adagio within the Casale Fornaci compound, is comprised of four properties and is located on the Tenuta di Arceno estate in the heart of the Chianti Classico. The Consortium of Villa Arceno protects the estate, and the preservation of the natural and historical characteristics of the 1000+ acre property is of the utmost importance. As a result, the magnificent property looks today just as it did centuries ago.

Casale Fornaci is one of 30 Casali on the estate and is only 20 Km northeast of Siena, 8 Km near the quaint town of Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Chianti region and only 3 Km from the medieval Borghi of San Gusme' and Montebenichi. There are countless superb Tuscan restaurants and local farms selling oil and wine in the vicinity. Casale Fornaci is ideal for day trips into the Chianti area and cities such as Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Arezzo. Nearby you will also find thermal baths and horseback riding.

We encourage our guests to visit the outdoor market in Castelnuovo Berardenga, boasting local farms and their divine produce and products, open every Thursday.

Before your arrival, we'll share a digital house book with you, serving as your informative guide to the villa and nearby towns. It will contain contact details for arranging day trips, hiring an on-site chef or babysitter, and planning sightseeing activities. Suggestions for shopping and dining options will also be included. In the interest of your safety, all crucial emergency numbers are listed within. Rest assured, a physical copy of this house book will also be available in the villa.

We have a local representative who is always available to assist our guests during their stay. We are also available to address any questions or concerns via email. All emergency contact and services information is shared with our guests prior to their arrival. We take communication very seriously and ensure that someone is always ready to help to ensure a fun, safe and comfortable stay.

Familienurlaub

Family trip

A beautiful location, tuck out of the way. The owner was wonderful when we needed to reschedule our trip. The host, Barbara, made us comfortable and gave us excellent directions. The welcome basket was perfect after a long day of traveling. We highly recommend taking a cooking class with Marta! She and Ana were lovely, sharing their knowledge of food and wine. Wonderful family memories!

Great getaway

This is a beautiful villa, located away from the hustle and bustle of life. The mornings were so peaceful sitting outside drinking coffee and watching the swifts fly and dive. The villa is nicely appointed and the views are lovely. I do wish we had realized there are other people who own villas on the same property, so you are sharing the pool with other people. You do have a private courtyard which is nice. This kitchen was furnished with everything you would need and the washer and dryer were an added bonus. Overall I would recommend the villa for your visit to Tuscany.

A Lovely Week with Friends

We were 4 couples enjoying this lovely villa for one week. The owner, Filippo, is an excellent communicator and attended to all of our requests very swiftly. The property manager, Barbara, is a gem and looked after our every request and need. The villa is very well appointed and slept us all comfortably whilst affording plenty of space to relax as well as enjoy the pool. The property is rather difficult to find and we managed to get slightly lost, however, Barbara rescued us! It is also a drive to the nearest village so a little isolated but day trips to San Gimignano, Volterra, Sienna etc. are easily done. All in all, a lovely place to stay and a very enjoyable holiday.

Beautiful Remote Villa

This villa was as beautiful as pictured and described online. The kitchen was well stocked and furnished and provided a warm communal space for our party of three couples. While we had a lovely week on the property there are a few things that were not clearly spelled out on the site; the villa is rather remote and the dirt roads leading to the property are hilly, narrow and rough, also the pool and surrounding property are shared space and pool access for guests/renters is 9am to 6pm, which is monitored by owners of other units on the property. Overall, this was a quiet and relaxing place to spend a week gazing at the beauty that is Tuscany.

Tuscan Paradise

We had a wonderful time in Tuscany and thoroughly enjoyed the villa. The area is so quiet and picturesque. The villa was perfect for our family of 8 adults. There was lots of room, it was well equipped, the host was tremendous, it was beautiful and very comfortable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Amazing property with incredible views!

Our group recently traveled to Italy to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. This was an incredible home that just continued to surprise us as we explored. Great location if you are looking to make day trips and come back for evening sunsets and wood fired cooking. We were set up with a lovely welcome basket, and our very own tour guide in the form of a highly coveted binder with every special location that is could be found within driving distance in one day. This binder never left my hands, and we were so grateful to have it. Barbara (property manager) greeted us and had many suggestions on where to visit, restaurant must-haves, etc. This will be on my list of places to visit again. The Villa is perfection!!

Very nice and comfortable villa

We had a very good holiday in villa Fornaci it’s a very nice and quiet place situated in the middle of the forest and with a beautiful private garden The villa is wonderful and well equipped Barbara was very helpful and we received a huge welcome food basket the first day : it was very nice because going to the nearest grocery takes about one hour for a return Luckily there is a good internet connection because the cell phones are not recheable: you can always call using wats app if necessary (is it really necessary during holidays?) but you have to advertise your contacts if you are expecting calls The location is very good and near Sienna and other nice towns The only little minus point is the swimming pool : you are not always alone (I was annoyed my grandchildren were making to much noice for the other people) and the pool rules ask you to leave the pool at 6 PM because after 6 PM the swimming pool is reserved for the neighbors-owners: This makes you can not have a swimm when coming back from a visit and before your supper But it’s really the place to go for an escape in Toscani ! Making your own pizza is a must! Also crossing our listening to the wild animals is very pleasant :it’s something you will never forget Thank you very much Filippo and Barbara

Once in a Lifetime. Hopefully More.

To say this property is spectacular would be an understatement. The raw beauty of the surroundings combined with the exquisite restoration of the property is something to behold. We were taken care of from the moment we got there . We took spectacular day trips to some of the most beautiful places in Italy, but returning back to the Villa was always a highlight. We were married in the garden surrounded by close friends and family. This Villa will always have our hearts and we are forever indebted to it's beautiful owners and property manager for the gift that is Casale Fornaci.

Great remote slice of Chianti!

We just returned from a two-week stay at this Villa and had a wonderful time It was very spacious and comfortable for the six of us. The kitchen was well supplied. The indoor Tuscan grill and outdoor pizza oven were great. The air conditioning worked well and it was much needed. Barbara was helpful and accessible for our questions and needs. The location is perfect for those seeking off-the-beaten-path tranquility. We did many day trips to Florence, Siena, and other small towns. The pool was nice especially for our children...it’s shared with neighbors on property who were lovely to meet. Our overall experience was wonderful and we look forward to staying again in the future.

Beautiful Remote Villa

Highlights of the stay were making pici pasta, pizza in the pizza oven and grilling meat over the open fire in the kitchen. We didn’t need the air conditioner as the evenings were cool. There is another property and a few other apartments in the villa but it still felt very private especially on the loggia and courtyard. The neighbors are very nice. We enjoyed speaking with them. Barbara gave us a good orientation when we arrived and was easily accessible by text/email. The welcome basket was phenomenal and the refrigerator and pantry were well stocked. I’ve never experienced so much complimentary food provided in a rental. We didn’t have to shop until the next day. The nearest grocery stores are in Castelnuovo Berardenga about 20 minutes drive. We preferred Simply Market, smaller and a little farther than the Coop. The meat there was really good. The town of San Gusmè is a short drive. There are a few restaurants there. Driving on the local roads was a challenge as many towns had narrow curvy roads. It took us 1hr 40 min from Firenze and 40 min to Siena. The only negatives were: the microwave didn’t work, the coach house was a little damp and there was some variation in water temperature in some of the showers. The bathrooms were all clean, modern and updated; beds were comfortable(firm), sheets pillows and comforters all clean and smelled fresh; plenty of towels for bathroom and pool. The kitchen was also well stocked with dishes, coffee makers, pots and pans, etc. Overall we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this rental

Beautiful villa situated in beautiful Tuscan setting!

Our family of 5 and 2 friends had an amazing time at the villa! Lots of room and beautiful bedrooms. It's located in a very quiet setting, we loved the serenity, the view, and listening to the birds during the day and frogs and crickets at night. We hired a chef for a night and regretted not booking him for more! The manager Barbara was very welcoming, helpful and available for any questions we had. Overall we had a lovely time at this beautiful villa!

Amazingly Authentic!

I would totally recommend this property. It's exactly what you picture a Tuscan villa should be. From the indoor wood grill, to the amazing outdoor space, this villa met all our dreams. It was a perfect get away from the hussel and bussel of Florence.

This estate is incredible.

This estate is incredible - we were stunned by its beauty from the moment we stepped out of the car. The serenity of the surroundings, those knock-out sunsets and the smell of wild mint and rosemary everywhere make this place a total paradise. The villa combines the historical features of the original architecture with modern conveniences inside so you get the best of both worlds. Highlights of our stay: making lunch in the courtyard pizza oven, drinking amazing local wine on the veranda, dinners cooked over the wood fire indoors, and everything we could need already thoughtfully accommodated. Beds were very comfortable and we slept so well with all that fresh Tuscan air. It felt like a once in a lifetime experience to spend the week in this idyllic place. Thank you!

Stunning and Serene

Pictures don't do this place justice! The surrounding estate is beautiful and serene. The house was well maintained with plenty of space for our family to roam especially our 2 children. Cooking in the wood oven was a special treat and I wish we had done it more often. It's a very short 20 minute drive to Sienna but our preference was to stick to the smaller less tourist centric towns in the area. We loved San Gusme 10 mintues away and suggest the 50 min drive to Cortona.

Spectacular Tuscan Villa!

9 of us were accommodated easily for a week in this beautiful villa. It is truly a wonderful house on a spectacular piece of land situated on a 100 hectare wine and olive tree estate. In addition to the normal kitchen appliances, the home also has both an indoor wood burning grill that we cooked three meals on as well as an outdoor pizza oven that we also used with great results. Our days included wine tours, visiting Sienna, chilling by the pool, walking the property, and shopping for shoes in near by towns. At the end of the day we looked forward to just taking in the wonderful sunsets sitting on the balcony, and talking about the day, while we started burning the wood to start dinner. It was truly a great week, I'd like to thank Fil for his help and patience in helping us organize this trip and switching the dates for us many times without once getting mad at me! Always responded quickly to any questions we had. If you get the chance to stay in Tuscany you need to think of this villa first. We loved it.

Beautiful retreat , perfect location

Casale Fornaci is a comfortable and well appointed property on the beautiful Villa Arceno estate. This was our first visit to Tuscany, and after touring the area for two weeks, I think we chose the perfect location. We loved the local area and thoroughly enjoyed the Villa, the estate, the local villages and of course day trips to Siena, Pienza, Arezzo and more. We are food lovers and access to local ingredients, restaurants, wineries and of course the amenities (pizza oven!!!) of Fornaci, were the highlight of our trip. We were two families with teenagers and the house, gardens and pool served us well. My only comment is the house is part of a condominium with three other villas/apartments, so managing the noise of teenagers and pool sharing/hours were adjustments we had not planned on. Filippo and Barbara were the perfect hosts - I have rented many homes but not with the level of hospitality and warmth they provided. As a hospitality professional myself, I cannot give them enough praise! I can't wait to return.

A comfortable and civilized retreat

Tuscany is a beautiful place; one of the most beautiful in Europe. For my vacation I sought a place that was secluded, peaceful, connected to Nature and yet civilized and comfortable. My stay at Casale Fornaci provided this and more. It has every modern convenience one could wish for and yet it still remains true to its Tuscan heritage and environment.

Just beautiful!!

The villa was great. The views are beautiful! I could sit on the upper veranda all day. We had such a wonderful time. We would love to return. You get used to the dirt roads quickly. Barbara was great. Due to a plane delay, we did not arrive until 9:30 pm. She very nicely met us that late at night to be sure we found the villa and that everything was fine. We were just thrilled! We did not want for anything! All communication was timely and very helpful. Thank you!
