We were unaware that we had to go to the real estate office, to get our keys, until the day of check in, when I called the office, and then had to resort to calling the owners. We arrived at 2:50 pm. We waited around until 3:30, and entered the property. It was a mess. Filthy dirty. Beds were unmade. Sheets and towels were dirty. Kitchen was dirty. Bathrooms were dirty. Floors were dirty. We had to go buy cleaning products, do all the sheets and towels, so we would have somewhere to sleep, and something to dry off with. We had to clean the bathrooms and kitchen. We had called the property manager, and emailed her, several times, before we received a response. They said THE MAID failed to schedule herself. Passing the buck and throwing the maid under the bus is totally unacceptable. Maid finally came at 6 pm. We went fishing and to dinner. We got back around 8:30 pm. Maid was gone. Floors were vacuumed, but laundry was not finished, so we had no blankets or comforters. I did not have time to wash them at that point, as we were exhausted from doing laundry, cleaning the house, and driving all morning. I did not pay to stay here, so I could do chores. I was looking forward to relaxing when I got there and so was my husband. We ended up, having to go buy $50 worth of cleaning supplies as there were none in the house, and then cleaning it. The CLEANING FEE, of $175.00 was refunded, however, I am still disappointed in the condition of the rental property. Also, the lounge chairs by the pool were all cracked and broken. Unusable. I feel that I should be refunded at least one nights stay, as none of this was our fault, and it was very stressful. House was nice, and in a great location, which is why we chose it. Neither the property manager, nor the owner seemed embarrassed or concerned about the condition of the property. They did not apologize for it, they only threw it off on the maid. It is completely disgusting, to have to do someone else’s dirty sheets and towels, and to have to clean the showers, sinks, and toilets, upon arrival at your vacation rental. I would like to give this place a 10, but it was too disgusting when we got there.
