Family Weekend Getaway

Would not recommend this property at this time.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Full-sized refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, and showers all worked well. As a former fire safety inspector, the biggest issue was the safety concerns. The two smoke detectors in the living room were mounted incorrectly. They were far too low to be fully functional. Additionally, an audible alarm doesn't necessarily indicate that they're operational. They have to be able to detect smoke. More importantly -- there were no smoke detectors in the bedrooms where you often need them the most. The home was not maintained well, reflecting poor maintenance. There were finishing nails protruding from the molding and sone missing molding. The front screen door was bent badly. There was significant mold around the skylight in the one bathroom where it had been leaking and no effort was made to repair the leak or remove the mold. Black mold is always a concern with these issues. I really didn't like the lengthy, overly complicated and burdensome rental agreement. This was as annoying as buying a used car.

Only complaints we had was the ceiling above the tub had severe water damage and looks of black mold. Also the mini blinds in one of the rooms had large gaps due to missing slates so it made it hard to dress in there or keep the light from shining in.

Needs work

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was my 1st time renting cabin #5 and I probably will never rent this cabin again. We barely were able to watch tv for the 4 nights we stayed. It kept switching over to no signal & just shutting off. I called one evening regarding the issue & no one came. I called the next morning about the issue, not sure if they checked the tv out or not but the issue was not corrected. The place was not well cleaned. We found someone’s spit bottle next to the bed and a pill in the couch, just overall pretty dirty everywhere & if you walked across the floor barefoot even just for a couple minutes , your feet would be black. It didn’t seem like when they cleaned that anything was moved to be cleaned thoroughly, even the spatula in the drawer had food still stuck on it. The cabin seemed pretty old & beat down compared to the other cabins I’ve stayed in the past 5 years.

Our bathroom lights didn’t work in either bathroom. Maintenance came out and fixed one, said they’d be back for the other and they didn’t. One of the toilets had to be plunged every other flush with little toilet paper. Disappointed with how much we spent for the stay and had to use a flashlight to use the restroom. Furniture does not look like it in the picture and both couches were damaged prior to arrival.

Our unit #5 was "good" -- a great location. The kitchen needed more supplies (pots & pans, cookie sheets, colander, pitcher, large bowls)though. A vacuum cleaner would be nice also.

Although it is not on the main bar strip there are always taxis readily available to take you and your guests in to town and they are always very friendly. Each rental has appliances, features, furniture, etc that always make our stay a great one.The only reason I gave a 3 star below was due to our air conditioning not working properly.I have stayed at Island Club for years and years and always come back to stay there and always will.

Great Times with Great Friends!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our second year in house #5 and absolutely love it. It's like we're at home when we stay there. It's very clean and has more than enough to room for everyone to sit and eat or to watch TV! The front porch is a great size for us all to hang out on and cook on the grill. It's a great location, you meet a lot of people walking by.
