About this property

House with private deep water dock-50% discount for >29 nights

The house is situated on 2.9 acres of land. The property extends to Wadmalaw bridge. The land across the water at the back is in permanent conservation. The land across the road in front of the house is a Christmas tree farm. That is why there is only one neighbor - retired couple who travel a great deal. The house itself has stunning views of the water and abundant wildlife. There are beautiful birds, albino squirrels and dolphins swimming close to the dock. The location is ideal as grocery stores , restaurants , pharmacy, healthcare providers are all within a five minute driving distance. The beaches are all less than a half hour away. Kiawah and SeaBrook islands are only a half hour away. Charleston Downtown is also about a half hour away The Angel Oak Tree is only a few minutes walking distance from the house. There are two floaters on the dock. One is exclusively for use of the guest. The other is for the owner- a boat is secured to the floater. There are fishing rods of sorts, a crab trap and two kayaks for guest use. The kayaks have recently been moved from the floater to the basement because of strong winds Additionally, an otter had made himself quite cosy under one of them . There is also a rather shy bobcat who keeps his distance. The woods with tall pines, magnolia trees and other indigenous species like oaks, and elderberry shrubs render the surroundings very peaceful. This is a very unique piece of property so very close to town.

Gorgeous waterfront property

The house is well hidden in the trees, with a wrap around screened in back porch facing the water. Birdwatching just from the porch was phenomenal--painted buntings, great crested flycatchers, tufted titmouse, herons, blue-gray gnatcatchers--for my fellow bird nerds out there. There's a long pier out over the water and there are abundant dolphins swimming by. Loved watching the tide come in and out and the local fisherman wading out at low tide to try their luck. The house itself it well-appointed--my 80 year old parents were particularly impressed with the quality furnishings and decor, as well as the small touches, such as reading materials, binoculars. I really enjoy cooking, and the the kitchen was stocked with nice pots/pans/utensils/sharp knives. I had hoped to BBQ on the provided grill on the outer deck, but we got too busy with other activities. We were in town for a family wedding on Johns Island, with additional wedding events on Folly Beach. This house was the perfect location for both, as well as sightseeing in downtown Charleston, North Charleston and Summerville. Perfect for those who appreciate nature, value privacy, yet with the added assurance of a very responsive host. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I am a nurse practitioner running a rural health clinic. My husband and my four children live about a stone's throw from this house. My mother bought this house with the intent to live in it. However, my children and her rely on each other a great deal.as she stayed with us for the first five years. She has tried intermittently to live there but it has not worked out. So she has moved permanently in with us.

Why they chose this property

It is a nice safe, quiet neighborhood. It is over twenty five years since I bought my house here. It appears that things have hardly changed- a few births and sadly a few deaths. Only two new houses have been built since then.

What makes this property unique

It is a waterfront property( on the intercoastal waterway) in a very tranquil setting. The cottage is situated on about two acres of land, surrounded by woods and well protected by magnolia, pine and live oak trees. It is also built on high ground, which prevents it from getting flooded. The unique feature is that the PRIVATE dock has two floaters-this means that the owner can anchor the boat on one floater while the guest has exclusive access to the other floater.
