About this property

Lovely Writer's Retreat and Garden Sanctuary

Enjoy the peace and tranquility of this meditative garden sanctuary. Poised on the crest of a hill on a beautiful corner lot in a classic Chapel Hill neighborhood, this well-appointed 3-Bedroom house has everything you need for a fun, family getaway or a relaxing retreat. It's conveniently located near E. Franklin St, UNC Hospital, Kenan Stadium, Dean Dome, and minutes from Whole Foods and various restaurants and bars. Complete with Ping Pong, cornhole, charcoal grill, fire pit, 65" and more!

Private yet convenient, this classic Chapel Hill neighborhood has beautiful homes and gardens, and quiet streets for a stroll. But in literally 2 minutes you can drive to Whole Foods (a 10-15 min walk). Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter are also right around the corner, along with tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping. And if you want to head to campus or Franklin street, it's only a 10-minute drive.

Please park outside the gate and close all gates behind you.

*VERY IMPORTANT*
All gates must be left closed at all times! The DEER are out of control in this neighborhood and they WILL come inside and eat all the vegetation if the gates are not shut securely! Thank you for your help in keeping the garden looking gorgeous!
No parties. The maximum number of people on the property is 6, so if you have 6 people staying the night you cannot have any additional guests over for a visit. It's a quiet and tranquil sort of place. Thanks for understanding.

When checking out, it is SUPER HELPFUL to run the first (maybe only) load of laundry and start the dishwasher before leaving. Don't worry about transferring anything into the dryer; the housekeeper can handle that after your departure. Thank you!

Lack of instructions on how to operate tv and viewing optionsLighting in the living room was very dim and less than you’d expect in a room that sizeOverall property was too dark, so outdated it was depressing, and dampNot sure we would have rented it had we viewed the property in person beforehandPositives location, price, well stocked kitchen.Thank you.

Perfect!

We were in Chapel Hill for a family wedding and we're so pleased with our stay at this lovely home set in a beautiful garden. The home is fully equipped, nicely furnished and so convenient to everything. The host was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. We often rent VRBO and this was among our most favorite stays! Five stars!

Long weekend

Rented this property for myself and my two kids while visiting family in town. House was well stocked with kitchen items and necessities. Garden area pretty but not well represented in photos. I had to message host for arrival and departure instructions but he responded promptly.

Deceptive Listing - I wish it was better

It's old, and not updated. The lighting is dim because they have not updated the electrical. Lots of extension cords and still the little cheap lamps don't give. The place smells of mold. The appliances are dated, no garbage disposal. Also, there is no hot tub but it was listed on the property details. When I asked the contact person about it, he denied it was part of the property amenities; then he removed the hot tub from the listing, demanding that I "prove" it was there. Then, vver the course of the chat session, he finally said it was an imported listing. I'm working with VRBO to resolve and see about some kind of refund. You have to park outside "the gate," and that makes it a distance to go in and out of the house with bags and such. Beds are old, only queen sizes. There are 1.5 baths, and the 1 shower over the 1 bathtub had some kind of makeshift extender hose. In the main living area, there's a chair that's labeled "art don't sit," and the dining table in the kitchen is a built in. It was likely a nice house at one point, it could be nice now if they put some bit of money in it to upgrade it, but I won't book it again. I was hoping it would be a place I could return to when I come to the area.
