Being right across the street from Long Sands is ideal if you plan on spending your time on the beach. Great restaurant, store, and ice cream all within 2 minutes.
We had a great time spending the week at this cute little cottage. It was literally steps from the beach and often closer of a walk than the ocean when sitting on your beach chair. House was perfect for our family of four with two young kids. Owner was lovely and checked in frequently. Would definitely stay at this property again!
I wanted something close to the beach and comfortable. The owners were terrific. Perfect vacation.
Walk up the driveway and you're on the beach!

Great location but will not return
The location across from the beach is fantastic! The Dairy Bar to the left has a crosswalk. The cottage has a very small bathroom, a good-sized living area & 2 small bedrooms with full-size beds. The wi-fi is non-existent. There is no yard but the front porch has plenty of seating. The owners were great about garbage – emptying the trash/recycling daily. Parking is tricky. There are 2 spots facing the cottage with an extremely small area to turn. The driveway is steep with no visibility, and you pull out onto a busy sidewalk.
We had some strange interactions with the owner. I had a pleasant email exchange before the trip about check in/parking. We found beach parking on arrival. My in-laws arrived at 10am & I went to the cottage to introduce myself & ask if they could park as her email offered. She was very put out & said check in was at 12pm. I said I only asked because she offered in an email. She said she never said that. I chalked it up to miscommunication.
I returned at 12pm & the door was open with keys inside. I waited but no one came. A few hours later, my sister arrived & there was no beach parking. We decided to keep our cars on the street & let them use the 2 spots at our rental. As I was walking over, my sister called to say the owner was yelling. She was extremely confrontational. I understand that she was not expecting the cars & there was some confusion, but that level of anger/rudeness was unreasonable & unacceptable. She said she had been waiting all day for me. I told her I attempted to check in at the cottage as discussed. Her response “Why would I be here? I don’t live here!” She said I had to check in at the front house & she had told me that. I had no idea she lived in the house & emails from her/VRBO indicated someone would meet me at the cottage.
I apologized for the confusion. I apologized again when she complained that my brother didn’t use the crosswalk. She sits on the porch of the front house all day. We heard her complaining to other renters about using sidewalk chalk & that music playing from a cellphone was too loud. After meeting other vacationers that had similar unpleasant interactions, I was surprised it was not in any reviews. We heard stories about her calling the police for various “offenses”. The rest of our interactions were neither pleasant nor unpleasant. We look forward to our annual trip to Maine & have never felt unwelcome. We loved the location but would not stay here again.
Unbeatable location if you are willing to deal with a very basic accommodation
The location is superb! Although you can't see the ocean, (the rental property is just behind the main house that is on the ocean front) you are located right on the Long Beach and simply need to cross the road to be on the Beach. So sunrise on the beach, sunset or starry nights on the beach are all just literally 30 steps away! Several houses to the right is a general store with all the necessities and food you might need. Two houses down to the left is Ice-cream parlor,.that also sells lunch/dinner. The air is filled with breezy ocean aroma and the place stays cool and comfortable throughout the day, despite the absence of AC. It is actually was a pleasure to have fresh ocean air in the house all day. The house has a porch with plenty of chairs and rocking chairs to enjoy the perfect day outdoors. We mostly cooked ourselves for 4 people and used every appliance that the house offers -- everything is in the good working condition, and it seems that any need can be easily accommodated. Those are all the Pros. The cons are: Wi-Fi is practically non-existent, you can catch a very weak signal on the porch, but even that only gives you a low data mode option. The sofa bed in the living room is super old and I don't think anyone could sleep on it as is, since the bars will attempt to break your neck. In general, everything inside is super basic and old. Shower is tiny and could be cleaner. But as I said, everything was working just fine for us -- hot water, shower pressure, toilet, stove, microwave, toaster, etc.
This is a cute and small cottage off the beach with all the necessities. Nice owners who are nearby and open for a friendly chat. Very relaxed stay.

Very cozy and quiet.
Cabin was perfect for us with pull out couch to accommodate family that decided to spend the night. There was even a charcoal grill there for our use. Owners are extremely friendly and made us feel right at home, going that extra mile to make sure we had everything needed. They even provided some beach toys for my grandson to use. Overall experience was great. I would recommend this to my friends and family, inexpensive to stay which really helped this year.

Nice little place with great location
We had a great family vacation in this nice little beach cottage. It was a perfect fit for our family with 2 children. The location is really great: about 30 sec walk to the Long Sand Beach, wich is beautiful, and has nice waves.

I stayed at this quaint cottage for two weeks at the end of September. Very close to all good restaurants and just a few feet away from the beach. General store very close for odds and ends. Very clean and accomadating hosts. T.V and WiFi. Also very quiet. And off-street parking.
