Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in
“Fine” with a few helpful suggestions
The description was accurate with the exception that some things were listed as provided, but weren’t like shampoo and soap. A local CVS helped me with that. I was not given check-in or checkout instructions until I arrived at the property and requested it. This caused frustration. There was broken glass outside the property, neighbor noise at night, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn one of the TV screens off using all four remotes that I found in the house. Thankfully, it was also usable because it was clean and easy to find, and I found parking. I appreciate it for what it was, but won’t be staying there again.
The positives: the house in is a quiet and safe neighborhood, and we had no problem finding on-street parking. It is clearly a charming older property. The downstairs has been renovated, and the kitchen is nice.
The downsides: this house is clearly a renovation project in progress, and the upstairs is way behind. I took off my shoes when entering, which was a mistake, as the carpet on the stairs is literally sticky with grime and filthy. The front bedroom bed has broken slats that threatened to collapse several times a night. The bathroom is a hot mess, and there are chunks of ceiling paint hanging down in the shower. The hot water is only lukewarm, and the tub diverter is faulty. The back door has a metal security door, but the inside handle is missing, meaning you have to reach through the door to turn the outside handle, a clear fire hazard. The kitchen only has 3 plates and 2 bowls, and no paper products. Two of the kitchen chairs are super wobbly and felt like they would collapse (and I'm a small, lightweight person). The handle on the microwave is melted and cut my skin when I opened the door.
This has the potential to be a really charming property, but it is only partway finished with preparations.
