Disappointed & felt misled
VRBO listing suggested a water view and AC - the room had neither. VRBO (as usual) indicated we had paid 100% payment from us before the hotel stay yet the desk clerk charges us an additional $15 “amenity fee” upon checkin. It took 3 messages to VRBO host initiated by me to give us the address and check-in instructions. And, the VRBO host did not respond to my inquiry about the $15 amenity fee at check in.
Although the clerk who checked us in was pleasant and helpful, the hotel room itself was very poor. No AC, no ventilation other than opening windows, and a portable fan that rattled when on so we had to turn it off. The mattresses were well-used foam and were slanted to the side and had low areas worn in from too frequent t us, maki g sleeping difficult. The walls and ceilings were thin, transmitting noise from other guests. There was an industrial size HVAC unit under our window that made a loud noise much of the day & evening, making sleep difficult. Cars coming and going and staff use of a dumpster could be heard from our window as well, further impeding sleep. There weee also worn elements in the room that weren’t appealing. The room was clean and the beach near the hotel was great, but didn’t make up for the many deficiencies noted above.
