I was looking for a place in the mountains with access to water to spend a five day silent retreat. This place was absolutely perfect. Everywhere you walk there are streams of water coming down from the mountains. The water is so clear you can drink it straight from the stream. I slept on the front porch most nights because you could hear the water running all night and the weather was perfect night and day. The hosts, Bill & Rosalee, were fantastic, very accommodating. They arranged for their yard man and his son to take me wherever I needed to go including the airport on my way back. I forgot to bring a jacket. They provided me a jacket and a rain poncho. A on everything.
Bill and Rosalee are lovely hosts! Very helpful and welcoming. We had a very relaxing stay. The connection with the local culture and foods was top-notch. Warm, engaging, friendly and helpful! Local artist Martine has some amazing art pieces. We ate at Chumis and could not have felt more welcomed by Mirta, the proprietor. Lots of joy and love! Great Tacos Camarrones at Dalis as well. A most needed getaway!
We had a magical stay . Bird life was rich each morning as we watched and listened to the world around us unfold. Took a few walks on the property and down the road. The town is sweet and the people friendly. Our hosts were engaging and helpful including their dear dogs. Be prepared for cool mornings. A walk to the hotel above the property is a must! Great walks and a delicious trout lunch.
There is only one VRBO along with the owners home up the road on this exquisite property. We were blown away with the natural beauty. Waterfalls literally everywhere. You could hear them from the house. The owner Bill could not have been any nicer or accommodating and Recardo takes care of the landscaping as only a professional could do. He walked the first day in the pouring rain all the way up the mountain to show my husband around - just plain charming. We loved this place - it was hard to leave.
If you are looking for a private, remote, and authentic Costa Rican mountain experience, do not pass up the opportunity to stay here! The cabina is wonderful, and we loved sitting on the deck enjoying the view and the sound of the nearby creek. Walking up the hill past the waterfalls is a treat and the reward at the top is the view. It is like staying at a private national park. Bill is an absolute gem of a human and Ricardo, the property caretaker is lovely. Go to Truchas las Fuentes, a short walk away for the “Natural” trout plate that is so delicious. VRBO needs to add more stars to give. We loved our stay. Thank you, Bill!
We are very private people, and hate it when we rent a cabin and have any other houses within sight, to say nothing of those rentals with next door neighbors right on top of you. This gorgeous little cabin is tucked in the middle of the CR rain forest. No neighbors at all. Just hummingbirds, gorgeous butterflies and lots of other wildlife. The cabin was simple, but tidy, and provided everything we needed. Bill and Rosalee are extremely gracious hosts, and made the check-in/out process as easy as it comes. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit. :)
The entire area is gorgeous, Orosi, Cachi. I've been living in Costa Rica for 3 years now and hadn't seen this area before. Great place to stay and the owner is a great guy, really takes care of his guests. The place is cozy and super nice. Like most of the more rural areas though there's minimal internet so just be prepared to disconnect.
This vacation rental was definitely one for the books. The views available from this place are unreal! We could not get enough from our 3 day stay. Sitting on the porch and seeing so many birds we have never seen before, the green mountainous viewa left us in awe. Bill, Rosalee and Ricardo did a great job with this place. They were all very nice and patient with any and all of our questions about the area. His recommendation for dinner at hotel Quelitales was spot in. We experienced a couple of meels that were top notch. We would recommend to any nature lover without hesitation. Thanks again to bill, Rosalee, and Ricardo for the hospitality and hard work involved with your beautiful vacation rental.
The cabin is right next to a rushing stream and has an amazing balcony with comfortable seating. A great place for bird watching and sipping coffee in the mornings.
The furniture and layout were basic, and guests could use the laundry facilities at the owner’s house (a short uphill walk).
The cabin is close to Cachí, and even closer to Hotel Quelitales (1 km) where one can find great trails, amazing hummingbirds, and excellent food.

Ricardo saved the stay :)
Overall the stay was great mainly due to the property care taker Ricardo who went above and beyond.
Our only annoyance was with the owner for the following reasons-
1, He e mailed us 3 days before our planned arrival telling us our booked dates were no longer available as someone else was staying there and could we reschedule. This was resolved as it was the owner booking error.
2, After a very long journey we arrived at the locked gates of the accommodation with no one to greet us. We checked our confirmation e mail and the 2 contact phone numbers were purely xxx xxx xxxs. With no internet we are now stuck.
We head into town to a local restaurant to try to identify the owner. Fortunately a member of staff at the restaurant knew Ricardo’s son who he called and got Ricardo to meet us at the restaurant. Ricardo then called the owner Bill who claimed we were not scheduled to arrive till the following day ! Another blunder on the owners part.
3, The propane ran out at 6:30pm half way through cooking dinner. We e mailed the owner Bill and his reply, Ricardo will replace it tomorrow morning ! Fortunately due to the complete lack of confidence in the owner we obtained Ricardo’s phone number, we called him and he had the propane changed out within minutes.
4, Our plans changed and we left the property early, we asked the owner to consider a refund for the unused nights which was flatly refused. Given the point 1 listed above we thought this a little hypocritical.
What a great get away. Very peaceful. Creek running right next to the cabin. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and birds. I lost count at 20 different species of birds. Wish I could of stayed longer. The hist was a pleasure to visit with. Thank you Bill.

Bel endroit! Tranquillité assurée. Préférable d’avoir un véhicule pour les déplacements car peut être loin des centres d’intérêt. Malgré ce détail je recommande fortement cet établissement. Excellent rapport qualité prix
MY WIFE AND i LOVED THIS PLACE!
Host and his Gardener were wonderful and very helpful.
I'ts just hard to describe how absolutely gorgeous & beautiful the rain forest is. The sound of the creek running through the property and the waterfall were real bonus's. Take the hike to near the top of the mountain, it is really well worth it.
We were looking for something that would let us explore the real Costa Rica and I think Cachi fit that perfeclty. We had some wonderful walks throughout the community and just loved the serenity of the area.
Definitely would come back hear again!
We actually stayed in an adjoining house on the same property. It was lovely & the local manager was very pleasant & helpful. It was a beautiful location with a lovely view. The property owner was very responsive & congenial, also.
There were maggots in one of the bedroom drawers that army ants were feasting on for my first night. All of the drawers were dusty with dead bugs.
The owners don’t take accountability for anything and they don’t apologize. Bill called me difficult one day when I politely asked him to text me before showing up to talk to me, as I take showers sometimes and sometimes am not wearing clothes.
He also didn’t know I was staying an additional month. They projected their life challenges onto me but never apologized for that.
It was the least peaceful stay I’ve had staying anywhere, with yard work happening almost daily. They didn’t have it in them to give me a partial refund when I left a month early due to all of the issues I had.
They treat you weird, like they don’t trust you. They lack hospitable skills.
I hope they take a break to focus on themselves so they don’t put another guest through what I experienced.
My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay here shortly after the country started to re-open. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was everything we had hoped...and more.
This is a peaceful, beautiful piece of paradise. The owners were very nice and accommodating. The room is a bit rustic, but that made it perfect for us. The river flowing past your front steps and the waterfalls on the property are an added bonus that you are sure to love!
Due to economic circumstances of the country we were unable to experience much of the closest village. However, other nearby towns were more than adequate for our needs.
Bottom line...if you are looking for beautiful scenery and quiet serenity while living like a local (kind of), this is the place!
What a beautiful property! Very well maintained and clean. The grounds were spectacular. Bill and his support staff were excellent folks to deal with. The people in a local Village very friendly.

Beautiful private cabina
Our hosts, Bill and Rosalie, were gracious and welcoming, among many things, guiding us to the organic market one Saturday. The cabina and the surrounding 200 acres were at our disposal. Several mornings we hiked up the farm road to see how the cows were doing in the high pasture. The property lies on a small hollow creating its own cloud forest. Many evenings we watched mist pile over the ridge while the sun shone in the river valley below. Bring a heavy sweater to be comfortable. I identified 30+ birds from the deck, the most dramatic was the Montezuma oropendula. You can walk up the dirt road to a surprisingly elegant restaurant. Be prepared to self entertain with lovely hikes. A remarkable place on the planet.

Our home away from home met all our needs! It was cozy for two!! The view in every window was spectacular!! We wanted to experience the true culture of Coata Rica away from tourism and adventure out to the small towns near our area!! Instead of returning home exhausted, we return with a sense of serenity of peace of the whole experience of Costa Rica!!! We look forward to returning in the future!
Warm regards,

Beautiful Mountain Retreat
What a location! This is a special place indeed to experience and enjoy an off the tourist trail part of Costa Rica.
Sitting on the porch, listening to to stream that flows right in front of the cabin and watching the Oro Pendulas swoop and fly in the trees outside is an experience we'd love to share with all our nearest and dearest. Easy walking trails to see beautiful waterfalls and soak up the green splendor of the surrounding forest were another highlight.
The cabin itself is cosy with all mod-cons and lovely hot showers.
We've been lucky enough to have visited some of the country's other treasures: San Gerado de Dota, Monteverde, Uvita area and can definitely say that our stay at this cabin ranks easily with those busier spots.
Thanks Bill for a wonderful stay!

Pura Vida! I grew up in Southern California and Rosalee in New Mexico. We are retired Americans and have been living in Costa Rica for 12 years having moved here from Pagosa Springs, CO. It is a gift to live in such a peaceful, welcoming country with such incredible, diversified environments.
We practice the Four Agreements: 1. Do your best. 2. Don’t take anything personally. 3. Don’t assume anything. 4. Be impeccable with your word.
Also, do no harm and accept what is in the moment.
We have enjoyed meeting people from all around the world and always look forward to making new friends.

Pura Vida simply translated means “simple life” or “pure life.” Here in Costa Rica, it is more than just a saying—it is a way of life.
