About this property

NEW Robert Manning Place•Historic 1824 Salem Home with Parking•Walk to Downtown

This well-maintained 1824 historic home was built by Robert Manning, uncle and guardian to Salem's Nathaniel Hawthorne. The home is conveniently close to the commuter rail to Boston. Walk 15 minutes to vibrant downtown Salem to explore shops, art galleries, museums, a variety of dining options, and of course all the haunted happenings. This is a rare opportunity to access an entire home complete with fenced in yard and off street parking all in the heart of Salem!

This antique home is full of charming original details like decorative fireplaces and exposed beams while incorporating many updates. This rare spacious home offers over 2000 sq feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms - plenty of room for the whole family! Enjoy the comforts and conveniences the home has to offer including:

• High speed WiFi
• Smart TV
• Plenty of rare Salem off street parking (up to 4 spots!)
• Primary bedroom with new king size bed
• Washer and dryer
• Keurig with complimentary coffee
• Window AC units in each room
• Fully stocked kitchen with conveniences like dishwasher, icemaker, etc.
• Exterior Camera present

Other things to note
• We have recently added a bed to the 3rd bedroom to increase occupancy to 8. We will be adding photos of the bedroom with 2 full beds soon!
• Please note that a pet fee of $15/day per pet applies. Dog owners must pick up up waste from yard.
• This is an antique family home over 200 years old. The home still has many of the original character and furnishings which the owners are renovating over time. You will experience "old house charm" like stairs that creak or windows that may rattle but we hope this will only enhance your spooky adventure in Salem :)
• 2 of the bedrooms are adjoined by one of the full bathrooms "jack and jill" style

Lovely historical feeling home

This was such a wonderful place to stay. While my friends and I had so much fun exploring Salem, I almost wish we could have spent a little more time at the house. It was so quiet and peaceful in the neighborhood, and the property was beautiful. I would highly recommend booking this property!

It was truly an 1800 home. Loved the hidden staircase. My grandsons used them to get to their room!!! Peaceful area. It was walkable for the young ones! Not far from many of the places we wanted to go. Just an all around wonderful experience!!

Amazing long weekend in Salem

This is a wonderful historic home in a cute neighborhood. Walking distance to some good restaurants. The property manager was incredibly responsive and helpful. Loved the history of the house and all of the features. Very close to everything and super convenient! Being in a historic home in Salem in October was really fun to come up with spooky stories. We’d for sure recommend this home!

Salem Family Getaway

Our main goal for this family vacation was to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday and give her some time with her son and his family that live nearby. We are nearly 12 hours away in PA so it was awesome to be able to have a spacious and homey place to have dinner, enjoy conversations or just relax. The house had everything we needed-they seriously thought of everything! The yard was spacious and the property close to town. It was easy to communicate with the property managers who were extremely helpful when we had questions. I highly recommend this property and would love to visit it again.

A beautiful historic home with old-world charm and modern-day conveniences.

The Robert Manning House, where Nathaniel Hawthorne was raised by his uncle, is a slice of history and it was a privilege (and a thrill for this ex-New Englander) to be able to stay there. Communication with the property manager was fast and easy. We had no problems at all. It was a seamless stay in an incredibly fascinating home. Salem itself, as I knew from growing up near there, is an endlessly interesting town with a lot of emphasis on the days of the Puritans and the witch trials. September and especially October are peak tourist months (because of Hallowe'en, and, you know, witches) so Old Town Salem was crowded and we didn't spend much time there. We were there for a family wedding, not for sightseeing. But the house is close to nearly everything you would want to see, and tourist sites are easily reached by car or by walking. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
