Amazing ocean and mountain views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pingus House in Simons Town while on holiday from Australia. The views over the ocean and mountains are superb. We would consider returning here for future holiday trips

Very well equipped and stylish house with wonderful sea views
Mary and Thierry have created a wonderful holiday home which is imaginative and extremely well equipped: the large amount of crockery and cutlery was a real boon to efficient use of the dishwasher during the current water shortage. Gillian very kindly stayed late to welcome us and asked for any constructive comments about what would enhance the house so here goes: 1. Some sunloungers for round the very nice pool. 2. Some written I instructions for the oven which we found a bit mystifying though we overcame that and also enjoyed using the excellent Braai. 3. The outside lights over the drive seem to be on a sensor but weren’t working. We felt very secure in the house: it is a very peaceful neighbourhood and the house is well fenced and gated. There are instructions on how to set the alarm at night when in the house, which we would have liked to do but never got around to reading the instructions fully enough; it did look way more complex than the simple colour coded buttons for all other aspects of the alarm and gates, all of which operated very easily and effectively. So very little to be at all critical of and we enjoy d the house immensely; the sea views and the panoramic windows and dining on the terrace. We found this a good base for the cape peninsula, getting to cape point and resorts on false bay. I think the house would work really well for families with small children who want a beach oriented holiday, less well if you want easy access to the city which is about a 50 minute drive, but we weren’t bothered by that as we had planned a separate base for a week in the city and sightseeing there. Thanks Mary Thierry and Gillian, we hope to visit PingusHouse again some time.

Great property in a good location.
The views are spectacular. The property is well equipped with everything required for the family including great sports channels on the TV. The property has great cover from the sun at all times while at the same time having sun bathing areas. We used the pool and BBQ several times. It does not have air con however in the height of summer there is a wind that keeps you cool. Great property

Fantastic and memorable stay!
We loved our stay at Pingu’s House. The communication with Mary was great in the lead up and on check out. There was a bit of confusion with check out but this was resolved quickly. The views were stunning, bedrooms and shared areas very clean, and the heated pool was a great addition. Would recommend 100%!

Wonderful
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Pingus House. We arrived very late at night, 11:30 p.m. The housekeeper, Gillian, meet us at the house. She was so pleasant and showed us all the features of the house. The house was very clean and welcoming. All the safety features were a plus. The only negatives we found was the dryer, it didn't have any knobs which made it difficult to set and turn on. Besides that we were very comfortable at the Pingus House and would definitely recommend it to any friends or family visiting Cape Town.

Excellent stay at an excellent property
We booked at the last minute and Mary was very fast to reply to my enquiry and made it quick and easy to organise the payment. We received all the information we needed and found it very easy to locate the house. On arrival we met Gillian who is fantastic. She showed us everything and explained house things worked. There was a small issue with the TV but she had someone round to fix it within a few minutes. There was also a problem with the pool (the pump had failed because previous guests let the water level go too low) but Gillian and Mary were super-quick to get an engineer out to repair it. Basically Gillian and Mary were always fast to respond to anything, to make sure we had a great time. We certainly did have a great time! The garden is lovely and very private. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and the bathrooms are good quality. The kitchen is superb - and with a wonderful view! The area is great. Lovely little beach (very quiet) at Links Crescent. I think it was called Windmill beach. Very close to the house, maybe 5 or 6 min walk but we drove and left the car at the parking area. Really safe for small children and lots of big rocks to climb on. We had the penguins swimming right near us! Lots of good little restaurants nearby. We went to Seaforth, Boulders Beach Lodge and Saveur. The latter was our favourite but you couldn't beat the view at Boulders. There are many others (probably even better ones, but we only had 5 days) so do take a good look around. The small cafe at Boulder Beach car park (Cafe Pingu) is very good for a light snack, coffee and delightful homemade cakes. A mini-market is close by (Pinguis mart) which had all the essentials. You have to drive further for a proper supermarket but we didn't bother. Our deposit was returned promptly after departure. We would definitely return to PingusHouse, and in fact we plan to do this hopefully next year when we will also bring our parents! Thank you so much Mary and Gillian for a really enjoyable and relaxing stay.

A Cape Town haven
A superlative experience. We were a family group of 8. Loads of space. Eldest 77, youngest 9. No issues at either end. When we were not travelling to see the sights we walked down to the sandy beach. Writing this after a great BBQ driven meal and we are all on the balcony at 9 pm!

We are a French-Spanish family that moved from Europe to South Africa a few years ago. We now live near Mossel Bay (South Africa) in a Game Reserve. We love wildlife and we also love diving so we were very happy when we discovered this wonderful place in Simon's Town with incredible experiences for diving with sharks, seals, near to the penguins and whales!

Why they chose this property

This is now our holiday/diving house, our little treasure. Our daughter Laura loves to go to the little beach near the house and also swim with the penguins at Boulders beach. The town itself with its ancient British air and colourful buildings is charming and has several restaurants, cafe's and nice shops. Mary also loves a bit of 'city live' so we are also not so far to be able to enjoy the rest of the sightings, top notch restaurants, concerts and shops that have made Cape Town a great holiday destination, but we are still able to sleep, wake up and relax in a quiet (and not very windy) spot enjoying amazing sea views.

What makes this property unique

A quiet and relaxing place, a great base to enjoy and visit nearby places like Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, Cape Point, Cape Town, the Winelands, and the perfect spot if you like diving, shark cage diving, enjoy whale watching, fishing and water
sports.
