Beautifully Remodeled Lakefront Home in Western Maine Mountains
Beautifully remodeled 3-bedroom home on beautiful Norway Lake (aka Lake Pennesseewassee.) The house sits on rocks in the lake - you can't get closer to the lake than this! Two decks with seating and a large dock with lounge chairs, great swimming and gorgeous views. Beautifully landscaped stone patio with fire pit and hammock, screened porch and outdoor shower. The house includes 2 kayaks and a canoe for guests' use. The house is located in Norway, Maine, a quaint town in the Western Maine Mountains/Lakes Region. The small downtown about 2 miles away has shops and restaurants. The large supermarket is just a 10 minute drive. Everything you need is close by and it's only a 45 minute drive from the culture, shopping and activity of Portland and about the same distance from the coast and beaches. In addition the house is 30 minutes from great ski areas and world-class golf at Sunday River. A scenic golf course is located less than 5 minutes away. The 3 bedrooms include a master with a queen bed, guest bedroom with a queen bed and a guest bedroom with 2 twin beds. It has a full kitchen, including a dishwasher and full bath with shower and tub. The house also has a washer and dryer. This house has everything you need for a relaxing vacation, but also plenty of activities a short drive away!

We loved our stay by the lake! The house was perfect - cozy and well-equipped, including a canoe for paddling the placid morning waters. So many nice places to lounge, both inside and out. Also, lots of beautiful walks nearby (check out the Western Foothills Land Trust) and Main Street in Norway is charming to explore. Would highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay so much. It was the perfect place right on the lake. We ate all our meals out on the deck. It was truly an amazing trip and we will be back!
The property provides a very convenient location for a base of operations. Close to hiking, rock hunting, leaf peeping, and of course canoeing and fishing in the lake. One comment - Could stand to have a better canoe, such as an Old Town. My husband is 6' 2", 215 pounds; the current canoe gives an unstable ride, although tolerable.
The cabin was right on the lake; a beautiful, quiet location in a comfortable, warm, attractive cottage to enjoy north-west Maine in the early fall. We look forward to returning next year!
This is our second time back at Monica's lakehouse and we hope to come back again next summer. The location is amazing, the views are beautiful and the lake is great for swimming and fishing. Our family of four had a wonderful and relaxing getaway week. Thanks Monica!!
Oh my goodness, this was such an incredible home! My husband and I stayed for a week and didn't want to leave. The home was cozy, clean and absolutely lovely. We loved the view and spent our days on the dock. The bed was very comfortable. We will be back! Thank you!
A beautiful vacation on the lake. Great swimming, incredible deck for eating and loon watching, and nice fire pit area. Spent all our time outside. Very comfortable and clean house but we were there for Lake Pennesseewassee. Surrounding area has supermarkets, restaurants, and every time of shop. Good area for jewelry shopping and mineral collecting due to all the local mines. Looking forward to booking again next summer.
The only complaint that I have is the coffee maker was filthy (as in moldy) on the inside where you pour the water for brewing. My wife cleaned it and all is good now!
We stayed here for a week and have NO complaints about this rental. House was beautiful as was the property. The scenery could not have been more inviting. The lake was pristine for fishing and the wildlife abundant. Gorgeous escape into the woods at the woods’ place. Thank you so much for allowing us to celebrate our 40th birthdays here. We will absolutely be back!
Having grown up in Maine, I was hoping to experience all my favorite things celebrating my 50th with my family. This cabin was perfect! Firepit for smores, loon calls, crystal clear water, boats to use, fishing and catching (5 small mouth, 2 perch and one large mout bass) gorgeous and comfortable interior, quiet neighbors, outdoor shower, local stores with great food, homemade ice cream, an hour to Portland. We couldn’t have been happier. The only suggestion I would have is to have a friendly Labrador waiting to greet you and stay with you for the week. Ours would have loved it in Norway. Thank you, Monica!
We were visiting Maine to see our son who lives there and found this place on the lake. It is literally on the water and the view of the lake is gorgeous. The house was very clean and well stocked. The only hiccup we had was finding it. We initially went to the wrong house not realizing the “lane” continued on and it was actually the 2nd house on the right when you see the lake and not the first. Thanks to a friendly neighbor we found it but once you get close to the lack there is very little signage. But, overall we really enjoyed the house and the outdoor area as well as the views. We would definitely return!
“Awesome" is the word we would use to describe this picture perfect lakeside cabin. Everything beyond just the location (the rear deck actually rests upon a large rock IN the lake) is just right. From the knotty pine walls and ceilings to the cedar and slate floors; from the exposed roof rafters with track lighting and goose decoys to the fieldstone fireplace; from the two decks and two docks to the fire pit and Weber grill; from the fully applianced and well-stocked kitchen to the cozy bedrooms. So much more can be said, but we’ll leave it at that. We had an incredibly relaxing and serenity-filled week reading, boating, fishing, grilling, and listening to the call of the loons. Lastly, bringing our own boat to have dockside was an added bonus, but the owners also provide canoes, kayaks and paddle boards for their guests to use. Did I mention the outside screened “living room” overlooking the lake? It’s all awesome.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Disappointing - could not have a decent nights sleep .
We left a day early - the mattresses were worn and soft ; the sheets and linens were old and stained ; we had to clean the coffee pot and dust ; the fridge & freezer had food / old spoon ; someone’s clothes left in closets ; stuff stored under beds ; dirty worn braided rug at bedside ; etc. Quite disappointing because rustic homes construction was nice but….
You should stay atleast a week or hopefully a month
The property is on a beautiful lake. The surroundings are serene and peaceful; perfect for really getting away. If you like to kayak or go canoeing, do it. They are included for your use. Everything was in working order and the cabin was immaculate. It was exactly what we were looking forward to and what we would definitely like to return to. Close by is a Hannafords Super Market as well as a Super Walmart. Norway has some nice little restaurants at which to get a bite to eat or a beer. We especially liked 290 Main St. Not far away is Naples and Sebago Lake with many good options there, also. Then, of course, you can go to the White Mountains of New Hampshire or Portand and the Coast. BUT, if you just want to hide and relax, the Woods' Cabin is the place to go. Really!
We rented this cabin the first week of October to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The cabin was decorated adorably with all rustic decor. Everything you would envision in a Maine cabin on a beautiful lake. The cabin actually sits on a huge boulder jutting out of the lake. We had our morning coffee sitting on the back deck over looking the peaceful lake. We bbqed and ate dinner out there almost every night as well. The cabin gave you a sense of remoteness yet close to a cute town. The town had small shops and restaurants with plenty to do.
The owner Monica was lovely and made the check-in and check-out process very pleasant and easy.
Our only complaint which was an issue for us specifically due to my husband’s height, 6’3 was the size of the bed in the master bedroom seemed to be much smaller than a queen. But the other bedroom seemed to be closer to a queen size.
Thank you again Monica for sharing your beautiful cabin with us! It was a wonderful stay!
This beautifully remodeled home on Lake Penneseewassee (Norway Lake) was the perfect getaway for myself and a longtime friend, as we sought a peaceful, unplugged week of rest and relaxation. The home itself was comfortable and well appointed with a full kitchen and pantry, a beautiful fieldstone fireplace, and a wonderful deck that hung right over the water. The setting was superb, nestled in the woods yet as close as you can get to the crystal clear water. A magnificent loon family were our constant companions throughout the week, gifting us with their various calls and fishing antics. We also enjoyed visits from bald eagles and other birds and wildlife (including a river otter that we believe had made her den under one of the docks). The sweet town of Norway was only minutes away, where we found some fun shopping and a great pub or two. Our visit was in late autumn, just as the gorgeous foliage was waning, yet still breathtaking. We will definitely want to return to this peaceful lakeside getaway, perhaps earlier in the season when we can kayak and hike in more suitable weather. Five stars for this beautiful property! You won't regret choosing a stay here.

We had an amazing time staying three weeks at this wonderful camp on the lake and watching the fall colors change before our eyes! Having stayed in several different camps in Maine this is luxurious living! Monica was great to work with and check in was a breeze. We loved the town of Norway with all the cool eating & shopping. The hiking available in such close proximity to the cabin was A+, 4 Star. The kitchen has all the amenities you need to cook meals at home. The master bedroom bed is soft but if you prefer something firmer another peaceful bedroom offers you that. The best part was waking up each morning and seeing what beautiful lake vista was awaiting us. Thanks Monica for sharing your piece of Maine heaven with us!

Our family of four loves spending time with friends at our lake house. It is our home away from home and we enjoy boating, swimming and relaxing here! The minute we walk through the door our mindset changes an stress and worries seem distant. In our opinion there is no better way to spend the summer!
