About the host
Hosted by Heide Breyl

I am a simple farm girl at heart. I love the outdoors and doing things that challenge me. Farming is one of them. Working with animals is very satisfying. I have a world renowned Boerboel stud farm in central South Africa (Britstown) called Mintakaroo farm. Find us on Google.
I homeschool our 4 children, who are all actively involved in our enterprises. My husband Philippus is an agricultural consultant and service provider, he is the head of our small family enterprise, rendering a wide variety of different services to farmers across South Africa.
Our eldest son Noah (17) has a keen eye for animal selection and breeding, he loves raising crops and delving into the financial side of things too, but his real goal is to become a professional cricketer and play in the IPL in India. When he is not helping out on the farm, he is hard at work in his cricket nets.
Our eldest daughter Jana (15) is more of an artsy type. She enjoys helping with the day-to-day operations in our household (especially cooking) and getting things organised for the guesthouse. She is an aspiring artist and very talented chef. She has a very soft hand and heart, which leans well into rearing and caring for new arrivals on the farm. Everything four-legged loves her.
The two toddlers are apt little racketeers. They love helping me in the veggie garden and socializing new puppies. Mireille (5) loves animals, gardening and dancing. Gerrit (3) likes to find out how things were put together. (Aka take stuff apart) We hope he'll be the engineer of the family some day.
We all love the outdoors and one of our favourite family activities is white river rafting on the Orange river near Vioolsdrift. This is one of our top 5 activities for any visit to South Africa, the first and foremost being visiting Kruger national park, which we do at least 4 times a year!
