Located just steps from DB Motorsports in Hancock and directly across Portage Lake from Michigan Tech University, Cabin #1 is your gateway to year-round adventure in the Keweenaw. Whether you're here to ride, relax, ski, or stargaze, you'll be perfectly positioned to enjoy it all.
This cabin is part of a 5-cabin property with direct access to the snowmobile/ATV/recreation trail, and sits just a half mile from Mont Ripley Ski Area and only an hour from Mount Bohemia.
Cabin #1 is road-facing (not lake-facing), but you'll still have full access to all the incredible shared amenities on the property, including:
✦ Communal hot tub and sauna
✦ Share our sandy beach on Portage Lake
✦ Free-use kayaks and bikes (seasonal)
✦ Game room, firepit, gas grill (on request), and picnic tables near the water
✦ Plenty of parking and room to unwind
In the summer, rent a pontoon boat or jet ski next door at DB Motorsports. In the winter, hop on a snowmobile right from the cabin. When the day winds down, enjoy a night of stargazing by the lake.
This is a social property — not remote or secluded — and it's common for guests in different cabins to strike up conversation and share in the lakeside atmosphere.
We (hosts) live on the property in a separate building (no shared indoor spaces), and while we fully respect your privacy, we’re always happy to chat, answer questions, or share local tips if you feel like saying hello!
A rental agreement must be e-signed after booking, which outlines the rules and terms, and is required for our insurance.
A link to e-sign the agreement will be sent after your reservation is confirmed. Please check your email/ messages for the link after booking.
-No commercial activities, illegal activities, or subletting are allowed.
-The number of guests must match the reservation. This can be changed up until the day of check-in.
-No visitors without approval—only registered guests may access the property.
-Pets are strictly prohibited—no exceptions. This includes emotional support animals.
-No smoking or vaping indoors. Smoking and vaping are allowed outdoors, but guests must clean up after themselves. Cannabis use is prohibited anywhere on the property.
-Late check-outs without prior approval may result in a charge of $35 per hour, as cleaning schedules must be maintained for incoming guests.
-ATV's & Snowmobiles: Guests must not ride on neighboring private property and should go directly to and from the trails. We value maintaining a good relationship with our neighbors, and guests are expected to respect their property and privacy.
-No Loud music or noises- respect the neighbors.
-No refunds for appliance, hot tub, sauna, or game failures (if applicable). No refunds for internet or power outages.
-Violation of these terms may result in eviction without refund and/or fines.
-A rental agreement must be signed within 24 hours of booking. A link to e-sign the agreement will be sent via message after your reservation is confirmed. Failure to sign the rental agreement may result in cancellation of your booking.
-Use common sense and respect of neighbors and property.
