About this property

Perfect for Families! Relaxing Mountain House, Gorgeous Views

Our High Valley House is a wonderful place that has been our family home for the last 20+ years. Love at first site is what made us buy it and will make you glad that you are here. Sit in the porch swing or hammock and take in the miles-long view, or enjoy it through the huge windows that surround the house. Better yet, join up around the fire-pit or soak in the hot tub. Easy access to a 4-lane Highway, but very secluded. Close to the NOC, whitewater, Tsali mountain biking, Appalachian Trail, Lake Fontana, Tail of the Dragon for motorcycles, Smoky Mountain National Park, and the Cherokee Casino.

The house layout works great for separating the guests. The master bedroom is on the main level with a Queen bed and the jetted tub with windows to the world. Downstairs, there is the King bedroom, the Double bedroom, and a Kids room with a dual twin bed trundle. There is also a separate full bathroom and laundry downstairs. Outside exits from both ends of the downstairs give you easy access to the yard and hot tub. You can relax upstairs and put the kids and in-laws downstairs, or switch. Everyone can re-group on the main level with the open kitchen that is great for visiting and enjoying the views out the over-size windows.

If you are in the area to ride your motorcycle on the amazing mountain roads, this house will make a great central base for exploring. There is a huge covered area under the front deck that you can ride into and out of. There is only a short stretch of level gravel road coming into the neighborhood, otherwise all pavement access including the driveway.

Cyclists will appreciate the covered bike wash area to work on and leave their bikes

Fisherman will enjoy the easy access to the Nantahala and Little Tennessee Rivers and Lake Fontana.

There are great quiet walks right from the house and folks with a little adventure can even hike all the way down to the Nature Conservancy tracts of the Needmore Tract on the Little Tennessee River.

All this, yet the house is very easy to access and is only 15 minutes from Bryson City.

Awesome view!

We loved our time at this house and the views were amazing! The house was large as we had 9 people and still had plenty of room. The Host was very kind and responded quickly with any concerns we had, would definitely stay again!

Wonderful stay!

We loved everything about this place! It was so clean and homey. We spent mornings in the porch in the swing and in the hammock watching the sun come up and enjoying the spectacular view. The home has plenty of space and our family of 7 had lots of room to spread out. The host was easy to communicate with . We highly recommend this home and are so grateful to our hosts for making it available.

Beautiful Mountain Getaway

Our family does a mountain cabin getaways every other year therefore we have done many. I was telling my wife that this cabin was the best we have ever stayed at and she agreed. The view is amazing, the cabin is incredibly clean, tastefully decorated and easy to navigate with little handwritten notes and signs that are part of a larger aesthetic. On our trip home we were talking about going back to the same cabin next time because it was just that comfortable for us. Campfires in the evenings overlooking the view, plenty of space for 5 adults to sleep comfortably. My daughter loved the loft and stayed there along with our Portuguese Water Dog. He had a blast with the freedom to run around outside, no leash and more smells than he had ever seen. It is secluded enough that you don't have to worry about visitors and your dog being off leash. Our whole family highly recommends this cabin. From all of our trips of this type from over the years this has been our favorite. The price is excellent and worth the investment.

Great view

We enjoyed the view, swing and hot tub. The host was very friendly and helpful. It was close to everything but in the woods so there wasn’t a lot of noise. It was also pretty clean. It definitely could use some remodeling though. Several doors not working properly and was a little musty smelling. But overall we would stay here again.

Comfortable cabin

Had 6 adults riding street bikes. Plenty of room to hang out/sleep plus room to park our bikes plus a truck and trailer. Hard to find a cabin with this much parking.

Clean, spacious, with views even better than the pictures.

Beautiful! The hot tub faced the beautiful views, as did the wraparound porch and the huge windows in the living room!. My family’s had a mini reunion there, and we never felt cramped, only appreciative of the spacious area and beautiful surroundings. The pictures really don’t capture how beautiful the views are. My mom already is planning to come next year!

Perfect Mountain Getaway

We had a FABULOUS time staying in this beautiful home. Kent was such a great host! My wife and I had planned this weekend getaway for whitewater rafting at the NOC (only 11 minutes from the house) with her parents, our two children ages 10 and 8, and our 2 yr old Golden Retriever. The house was just perfect for our stay. Very clean, spacious, beautiful mountain views, and the A/C kept the house nice and cool even in those hot 90+ degree days in mid-July. The dam went down for unplanned maintenance on the day of our rafting trip, but Kent was very flexible and helpful in working with us to accommodate our adjusted schedule. Excellent communication, quick, clear, and overall great experience. Thanks so much! Highly recommend!

Harley Ride through the mountians

This is our 5th or 6th time renting this property. It is always clean and well maintained. The view is incredible as we always start our day drinking coffee on the porch enjoying the sun coming up over the mountain. We usually end our day on the porch or in the hot tub watching the sun set. The house is conveniently located to all the roads any Harley rider would want to take as well as all the surrounding cities to visit such as Bryson, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg ect. I highly recommend High Valley.

Quiet, spaceous and a beautiful view

Our family (Parents plus 23, 20, & 17 yr old) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! There was plenty of space for us to enjoy dinner and games at the dining room table, yet our own quiet spaces to relax. The was just about everything we needed in the kitchen, and loved the open concept so that we could talk while we were cooking/cleaning up. The porch swing and hammock are perfect places to relax with a book or headphones. It was very quiet outdoors; rarely did we hear other cars or people. The view is just incredible. Be sure to look up at the night sky; so many stars to see. The owners have kept up with this house, and it is beautifully furnished. No issues with hot water or anything else during our stay. Kent even contacted us that the wifi was going to be down one of the nights we were there, and we had no issues with it. The driveway is steep, but no issues with it. There's even space for you to back into the spots at the top. All 5 of us want to go back, and I have zero reservations about booking this house again. Thank you Kent!

Great experinece...view....porch...convenience....amenities.

The property on High Valley Road was, again, an overall great experience! The listing was spot on...what a view!! The property was well maintained and it appeared some minor improvements were made since our last stay in 2015. We were, however, disappointed in the condition of the B B Q Grill....and the propane tanks were both empty. The inconvenience of having to refill a tank was unexpected. Also, the trundle bed a bottom bedroom should have a mattress on top of the box springs. The Owners are great to work with and are very good about returning emails addressing our needs. We have enjoyed the relationship with them for many years. Our group visits the house each year for the motorcycle rides in the greater area....awesome experience! We cook most meals in the house. Our group of 5-6 has stayed in the house 5 different occasions over the last 6 years. Our group continues to return to this house because of it's proximity to our activities, the convenience of the amenities the house offers and the care the Owners have taken to keep the house in good condition. Our group will definitely look to book our trip again late summer with the Owners if it is available.

High Valley Rd Cabin

This place was perfect! The loveliest cabin tucked away at the top of a mountain with stunning views. The house was fully stocked with everything you could need. It was very clean and spacious, with a lot of room for us to all have our own space. The owners were great communicators and willing to help with anything we needed upon our arrival and throughout the stay. We felt very welcome from the moment we stepped foot onto the property. The location was great, close to Bryson city activities, gem mining and other fun, mountainous things to do. Can’t recommend this place enough, it was perfect!

Outstanding stay !!!

Great trip from the beginning. The directions were spot on. The house had plenty of privacy and room for the dogs to run outside. The house was spotless and Amazingly Well stocked. The kitchen had everything you need. Unbelievable attention to detail. Little things like including a discount card in the welcome book for the local grocery. Great views from the deck. Awesome sleeping accommodations. We are already planning our next vacation there in the spring.

Sweet Spot

This house and location has a tremendous amount to offer. With more than ample room and well appointed with the signature view of the mountains both inside and outside, the house should satisfy most anyone. It's located within very reasonable time an distance of the many attractions available in that are both natural and man made. We had a fabulous time.

High Valley House Stay 8/22

We had a fantastic stay at the High Valley House. The view was absolutely stunning, and we were even lucky enough to have a rainbow appear over the mountains at the end of our stay. The house was very clean and provided plenty of space for group of 8. The location was also great and we enjoyed Nantahala National Forest, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and Lake Fontana. Kent was great about communicating and making sure that we had everything that we needed. We would definitely stay there again!!

Spectacular Mountain View’s

Mountain View’s inside and out. Love the swing and hammock on the covered porch along with table and chairs. Plenty of space inside with a stocked kitchen. It’s home away from home. 10-15 minutes from NOC or Bryson city. It’s our second time here and I’m sure there will be a third. It’s just tranquil…

Privacy, Peace, and a Mesmerizing View

In one sentence: This place was everything we had hoped it would be, from size and convenience to location and comfort. We'd go back in a heartbeat. Our host was incredibly attentive and everything was as it should be. We had ourselves (senior couple), another couple in their 20s and 30s, and a family of four. Everyone slept in a bedroom, and we could have added a couple more folks by using the loft. The two dogs were happy, too. We're from California: the AC worked, making the humidity a lot less annoying. Our son and daughter-in-law both graduated from culinary school; they did the bulk of the cooking and had no complaints about the kitchen. All they brought was a favorite knife. Note: whether each of us had cell phone service depended upon our provider. Those of us with ATT were good; those with T-Mobile couldn't get a signal. The Wi-Fi setup was good and accessible throughout the house, but the bandwidth itself varied. The house is a comfortable family place, with all the necessities, storage so you can unpack, pillows, blankets, etc. I never once heard a complaint from anyone. We felt like we were completely alone in the forest, with an incredible view of forests and hills for miles. We went to some local attractions (worth doing) but I think we enjoyed most just exploring, hiking, and wading/swimming in the rivers. Probably my best VRBO ever.
