About this property

Romantic Cottage for Two in the Heart of the White Mountains

A private, newly renovated cottage surrounded by trees, mountain stream, fields, and spectacular view of the Presidentials. Abundant wildlife out the windows. Not uncommon to have a moose or bear walk by. You'll enjoy comfortable, restful nights in the serene intimate bedroom on quality bedding, including down and cotton. The adjoining bath provides a shower, fluffy towels, and a hair dryer. Unique architectural details throughout were added to create a cozy environment. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare simple or elegant meals with adjoining dining and spacious living areas. A collection of local guidebooks, maps and reading materials are provided. We've also compiled a list of our favorite things to do in the area, including hikes, dining, and day trips. Many windows let in natural light, sounds, and clean mountain air. There is a small adjoining deck to sit and have your morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The adjoining field is a great place for evening stargazing, a campfire, or a picnic, with spectacular view of Mts. Madison & Adams.. Fall foliage is breathtaking, and in winter, snowshoeing and cross country ski trails start right out the front door. Just a 5 minute drive to the Crescent Ridge Glades. We will be happy to transport you to the trailhead when parking lot is full. Five major downhill ski areas are within an hour's drive. Many amenities within 5 - 60 minute drive. Day trips can include a shopping trip to North Conway, a scenic trip up the Mount Washington Auto Road, canoeing on the beautiful Androscoggin River, adventurous hikes up Mount Madison or Mount Adams, or leisurely hikes on the hundreds of miles of trails in the White Mountain National Forest or the Randolph area maintained by the Randolph Mountain Club. Clear, cool mountain pools nearby for swimming.

We accept pets, (dogs, not cats) after guests review our pet policy and approve.

We do not have parking space to accommodate ATV nor snowmobile trailers. There is a rental place in Gorham for those type of things and a parking lot at Lowes (pay) where trailers can be parked. Snowmobile trails can be accessed from there but not ATV's.

Peaceful and Relaxing

Although our time here was short, it was a nice area to be away from city life. The property offered amazingly mountain views and was very warm and cozy when it snowed.

Cozy Winter Getaway

We had everything we needed here for a peaceful, relaxing getaway right in the middle of beautiful mountain scenery. Our host, Larry, was so kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the area. The Little House is thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and decorated beautifully. There's a cozy gas stove to warm you after snowshoeing on the vast network of trails in the area. A lovely place to enjoy winter's beauty.

10/10 Intimate hidden gem in Randolph

This lovely cabin for two met all of our comforts and more! The first day we arrived we met Larry the owner who was kind enough to explain the local trail system as well as some history of the area. We were able hike to Mount Crescent right from the house and were met with spectacular views from the summit. Numerous cross-country ski and snowshoe trails were easily accessible without having to drive. And, the bonus was it was free and also provided awesome views. Larry’s wife, Yvonne, generously invited us on a cross-country ski tour which helped us get more familiar with the extensive trail system.Thank you, Larry and Yvonne for sharing your romantic cabin for two as well as your kind generosity. We very much enjoyed our stay and plan to book again in the future!!

Hikes, falls, and color

Stayed for 7 nights in mid Sept. Larry was a great host. Enjoyed many local hikes. Did Mt Hale from Zealand. There are lots of falls right next to the property. Spent a couple of hikes on the Ellis/Saco rivers. Fall colors were just coming. Swam a couple of times in the local rivers. Had a fire most nights behind the cabin. We had a very nice time.

Intimate cottage nestled in beautiful woods

Larry's cottage is exactly as advertised - a place to disconnect with ordinary humdrum of life and reconnect with nature. My wife and I enjoyed every moment of our stay here! The cottage has everything one would need for a cozy intimate stay, a reasonably well-stocked kitchen, a private bathroom with shower, a cute living and dining area decorated with artwork made by the host family and a bedroom with a fairly comfortable mattress. Larry and Yvonne have also compiled a great list of hikes one can do in the area, places to eat out and drink and places to go grocery shipping. Their grounds are impeccably maintained (and they were kund enough to show us around the property) with a fabulous view of the mountains. Also both Larry and Yvonne are very welcoming and we loved the opportunity of having some great conversations with them which made our trip truly a memorable one. We would love to be back!

New Hampshire Bliss

The location was truly a romantic cabin nestled in the White Mountains. Our hosts had many suggestions on towns, sights, and restaurants to visit. And very knowledgeable about the area hiking trail. The weather was fantastic for us and we are sure to visit again.

Great spot in the northern White Mountains

Our first time in New Hampshire. The location is great and the surroundings are beautiful. Easy access to services in town but far enough away to have real peace and quiet. Hosts are excellent. Good communication and Larry has a lot of helpful local knowledge. Close to many of the trail heads for the Presidential range. If you like to hike, this is a great place to go! Cabin is well appointed and just right for a couple. Highly recommend!

I see why the reviews are so good.

This was an amazing cottage with amazing views. We are extrememly thankful that Larry and Yvonne opened it up for the eclipse. It allowed us to see an amazing event that we may not have had another chance to see. They are amazing hosts that gave us ideas of places to hike and visit. They even let us borrow their ice cleats for the hike we went on. I couldn't recommend any other place or any other people to host us.

A delightful little cottage in the White Mountains

I cannot speak highly enough about this rental and the owner. The property was easy to get to even with quite a bit of snow on the ground. The roads were well cleared. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and very well taken care of. It is a small, cozy cabin with plenty of space for two people, and the automatic fireplace was a great touch. It is in a great location, away from the busier areas of the White Mountains, but still close enough to everything to not feel out of the loop. The cabin has great views of Madison and Adams. I cannot stress enough how breathtaking this view is, especially from the shared field. Larry was very friendly and helpful, and offered to stop by to say hello and introduce us to the area on the first day. His local knowledge was excellent and he was able to direct us to some great hiking trails and restaurants. I look forward to staying here again soon!

Perfect Hiking / Outdoor Get-Away Spot for a Couple

My wife and I spent 8 nights at the cottage in Randolph and had a great stay. The place was perfect for the two of us and had everything we needed. Our hosts were super friendly and helpful, and they even gave us tips on local hiking — which was why we came. This whole area was an awesome hiking destination and there were multiple trailheads within the neighborhood we were in. The whole area was really beautiful, and we highly recommend it. We would definitely return.

Rustic and romantic cottage, perfect for two

This beautiful cottage has everything you need for a longer stay, cooking and laundry facilities, easy access to White Mountains and northern New Hampshire, and close to stores and some very nice restaurants. Larry was very generous with tips for hikes and scenic drives in the surrounding area, and shared some stories about the cottage and it's history. We absolutely loved the interior, and the craftmanship of the furniture.

Host profile image
We have spent the past 36 years creating a self sustained lifestyle. Everything is owner designed and built, including the buildings, landscaping and gardens. We are both retired Larry, a former woodworker, and Yvonne a librarian. We enjoy our beautiful mountain setting and are excited to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

This cottage was built and used as an apartment while we were constructing our larger home on the same property, which was chosen because of the spectacular views of the Northern Presidentials. Our dream of converting it into a vacation rental is now complete.

What makes this property unique

The property allows you to get away and yet be close enough to everything you need. The small town setting is friendly, welcoming, and includes many seasonal acitivities without the congestion of typical tourist destinations.
