About this property
Dolled up salt box overlooking Moriches Bay, 20 minutes from Westhampton Beach
Conveniently located 1.5 hours east from NYC, 20 minutes west of the Hamptons, 20 minutes from Riverhead, 30 minutes from the northfork, this hidden gem of a Long Island town is centrally located, quiet, and breathtakingly beautiful. We call it the “just big enough” house because everything is “just big enough” for our family of four. Our property is a bungalow-esque home, with full views of the water from the inside and a large deck with two large areas, outdoor lounging and dining. The house is directly located on Senix Creek which opens up to the Moriches Bay. We have a small pool with a 7’ deep end, a large propane grill and a fenced in yard.
A lovely retreat any time of the year, in the summer choose between spending the afternoon poolside, taking the kayaks out in the creek or enjoy the paddleboard. Smith point beach is 20 minutes to the west while Cupsogue Beach is 35 minutes to the east. If you’re a star gazer, this is your spot. I encourage you to use our under-utilized telescope. Thinking of a winter escape? We have a gorgeous fireplace, that you can sit in front of for hours while you watch the snow fall on the water.
Easily accessible by LIRR to Shirley-Mastic train station then a 15 min car ride or the Hampton Jitney to Manorville, followed by a 20 min car ride. You can have groceries delivered via stop and shop….and probably some other service. All basic amenities conveniently located 1 mile up the street, you can walk or bike to the center at Center Moriches.
This is a well lived in and well loved home. It is not merely an investment property bought to create a rental income. As such there are the pros and cons of renting such a home. On one hand, there are some dings in the wall and everything is not shiny new. On the other, it is a fully stocked house and you are welcome to use any spice, oil, bike, beach chair, umbrella, etc.

About the host
Your host

I have a family w 2 teenaged boys and a husband. We live primarily in NYC but spend lots of time at our in Center Moriches. I am new to hosting so I’ll get back to you if I like it or not!
Why they chose this property
Our street was a beachy get away during the turn of the century. The majority of homes on our street, which sits on the Senix inlet off of Moriches Bay were built in the late 1800s.
What makes this property unique
Our home used to be a boat house. One original wall remains.
