About this property

Oceanfront home; Rooftop deck; Fabulous views; Upper level apartment

The Indigo Pearl Guesthouse is peacefully located at the south end of the island, directly on the coastline overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean, and offering absolutely stunning views of the Caribbean sea, AND gorgeous sunsets/sunrises! Our location is large and secluded, directly on Indigo Bay.
House; Oceanfront, Eco - Chic, 5G Wi-Fi, Full Kitchen, Rooftop Deck; Wraparound veranda, Privacy;

The location of our house itself is very relaxing. We love the ability to be secluded, or, to choose to go into the town. Our location is our main value : we are right on the coast, in a gorgeous private location amidst the palms of the jungle. Unique!
We are very happy to reopen now in 2023 after a 2 year COVID hiatus.

Our home is nestled in Indigo Bay, which is seen on the map as an indented area at the southwest area of the island’s tip. We are right on the water’s edge. In our vicinity there are several piers to enjoy.

The views from the rooftop deck and from the top level wrap-around balcony are panoramic and therefore literally the best views on the island. You look out over the tops of coconut palms in our huge yard and the view is absolutely gorgeous.

The Indigo Pearl is in view and close proximity to Turquoise Croc (behind us.) Our rental is much larger and has an unmatched view of the sea. No other house obstructs your view. At our home, you do not share the house with the caretakers/owners, which gives you the ultimate in privacy!

Do not choose us if you want to be 'pampered' - choose our house if you love adventure and you want to live as Belizeans do. If you DON'T need    A/C or a TV, and if you DO enjoy riding bikes, and you DON'T mind being a 15 min. bike ride from the edge of town, and if you DO like getting some exercise, and if you are NOT afraid of inadvertently crushing a crab with your bike tire, and you DO value peace, beauty, open spaces, and an unbelievable panoramic view over the sea, then we think you would LOVE our house. We personally live in 10 acres of secluded land in Illinois, and we love being away from crowds. We like the opportunity to go to town when we want to, but otherwise we value privacy. That is why we choose this location.    It is exactly what we love, and we want to share it with others who enjoy peace & beauty also.
The amount of private space you have at our house is something rare on the island.

It's been a learning curve for us to realize that not everyone thinks like we do or values what we do. We want it to be perfectly clear that our house is not fancy - those places are on the nearby traffic jammed island of Ambergris Caye. Our house is simple and clean.

We have made HUGE improvements to our house since we first purchased it.
The Indigo Pearl is one of the sturdiest homes on the island. It is a three-level home, so the top level apartment sits above the palm tree level - therefore having extraordinary views. With a wrap-around porch on three sides, you have a nearly 360 degree view of the sea, the surrounding islands, passing boats and truly incredible sunsets. As you look at the photo of our house you can see that the top level is for guests, the middle level is an apartment that is unused, and the bottom level is storage. South Point is the area to stay if you are a "birder" who desires to see the variety of unusual birds of Caye Caulker.

The house is simple, in Belizean style, and yet simplicity is the rule here on Caye Caulker.
As you look at the house, the upper level - above the treetops - is the apartment which you as guests would be renting. The queen bed has a new comfy mattress topper for a much improved sleep now.
Our caretakers live off-site but are just a quick phone call away - for any questions or needs you may have.

Our home is eco-chic: The power to run the electricity comes from our new solar panels. This energy from    the sun is then stored in a large bank of batteries. (The refrigerator,    stove and on-demand water heater are powered by butane.) We conserve energy and all of our water comes from a huge water catchment system, which captures the rain and filters it for pure drinking water. The showers are nice and warm, as we have an on-demand water heater for the shower. We have one of the largest water catchment tanks on the entire island and it is quite sufficient for our guests now.

Amenities: Clean sheeted queen size bed with comfy new mattress topper in the bedroom. Also, two 4-drawer dressers are in the bedroom.
The Living Room has a couch, table & 4 chairs, and a comfortable reading chair next to our book/game shelf.
Bath towels & Beach towels are in the bathroom, plus a safe in which to lock your passport.

Our home is simple and basic, yet very spacious, unique, private and with a view and peacefulness    you can't get anywhere in town!    We provide so much more than many other choices for rental:

*Large spacious kitchen: 4-burner stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, French Press, dishes, pots/pans, spices, etc.
The kitchen has a large nice area of counter top space. You may eat out at the many quaint restaurants or, you may shop at one of the local tiny grocery stores and cook back 'at home.'

The half-acre surrounding the house is sandy with a lovely assortment of coco palms and native plants. When    here, we grill out    every night on a large charcoal (or use coconut husks!) grill here out on the balcony.

Internet service is high speed (5G)and very reliable. This is an excellent way to stay in contact with family back home, or write that book that you’ve always wanted to!

We have a small library of books and several board and dice games~

Right outside the kitchen door is a    wraparound balcony on 3 sides. Our views off of these balconies are truly some of the best on the entire island. This is a strong point of this house. The sunsets are amazing. The water is a gorgeous shade of blue and we have just a fabulous, unobstructed view!

*Complimentary use of 2 (total) bikes, ($20 USD/day value - each).

Bike (15 minutes), walk (25 minutes), or rent a golf-cart to go the 1 mile to the edge of the quaint, small local town via an authentic, rough (sometimes wet) and bumpy jungle path along the coast.

I LOVE biking into town every day when we are there. Or, you can walk. Golf cart rental is available.

Caye Caulker is a very unique and quite laid-back little island. There are no resorts or such luxuries. Just the simple life. Few cars, no rush, just friendly locals and a slowed pace. The main reason people come to Caye Caulker are snorkeling off the barrier reef, fishing, diving, and just relaxing. We strongly recommend a trip out on a boat for a snorkel trip or a "booze cruise" or fishing. Such trips can be arranged once you get there, and are inexpensive and very memorable. Swimming and snorkeling off the edges of the island just do not compare to a trip out to the reef.

Enjoy a friendly, laid back, barefoot, local scene of restaurants, stores, bars, beaches & dive shops, or, water-taxi to nearby Ambergris Caye Island (the super busy town of San Pedro). Local snorkel trips are small groups, inexpensively priced, & STUNNING! (there    is even a trip to swim with sharks & pet sting rays.)        The opportunities for relaxation OR for fun are endless!!!

Yes, there can be potholes in the path... yes, your bike tire may crush an occasional crab, but YES ~ you will be in the REAL Belize ~ not in a touristy hotel!! We love it, and if you are adventurous, flexible, fun people, then you will too!

Caye Caulker is fabulous -- come with a sense of adventure! Don't expect life as in the U.S. and you will be pleasantly surprised. Caye Caulker is a very simple and FUN island. No cars, no traffic jams!

If you are adventurous and flexible then you will love Caye Caulker. It is still a unique place! Its residents are literally struggling to keep this island from becoming ‘just like any other place’ and ‘too commercialized’. Come and experience Caye Caulker island before its sand streets, home cooked authentic food and all around uniqueness disappears!

Once you book your stay, I will send you lots of informative emails about our lovely island, getting to our house, the best restaurants, etc.

Let’s make a connection and plan to experience some memorable times!

~Linda and Joe

Getaway Vacation

From the setting and location to the “Go Slow” motto of the island, Linda and Joe’s home was a dream vacation getaway. We relaxed from our first cup of coffee up top on the “widow’s watch”, as we know it, to watching the sun set on nearby piers. We loved the bikes, and rented a kayak and golf cart in town for even more opportunities to explore. The highlight for us was sailing with Carlos on his catamaran all day and snorkeling. Linda gave us so much information about where to eat, what to do, and answers to frequently asked questions, which is exactly why we picked a vacation rental instead of a hotel room or condo. We had the end of the island to ourselves with amazing views and quiet, no need for TV. The wildlife was our entertainment. The sea breeze was our AC and we slept great.

Low key island oasis

For those looking for a secluded hideaway to relax, unwind, and hang with the locals… look no further! Property had all the necessary amenities for our stay, not to mention an incredible top deck for stargazing and watching the baby crocs in the bay at sunset. Bikes were a great addition, with town 10-15 min away and also allowed us to take the split ferry to explore north caulker. Hosts were very responsive and their on-manager, Joshua, was always there to help. For those looking for a nice stay without all the unnecessary frills, I can’t recommend this place enough!

Private Oasis

It was perfect for myself and husband as we enjoy the privacy and seclusion this property provided yet not far from all the action in Caye Caulker. Linda accurately described this property as water and electricity need to be conserved, but that also fits in with our ethics as well (we have solar panels at home and conserve water as best as possible). We never encountered any issues having enough electricity or water for our needs. Joshua met us upon arrival and checked in with us throughout our stay to ensure all of our needs were met. Check-out was also very easy with Joshua as we communicated what time we needed to depart and he came right on time to grab the keys and secure the property. We highly recommend this property to those who don't mind living "off the grid". The views and privacy alone are worth it.

if you are looking for a place with great privacy, little to no traffic or neighbor noise, a beautiful view and peace, then this is the place for you. In addition, Linda and Joe provided the most thorough introduction to the country and the island of Caye Caulker that we have ever encountered in any rental on VRBO. Well Done!

Beautiful and private

Happy returning guest here! My wife and I have spent quite a bit of time in Belize and on the Cayes, and this is our second stay at this awesome off-the-grid house. We have stayed in a couple of hotels in the village of Caye Caulker and also other private houses, and we think this is the best 'bang for our buck' because of the huge amount of personal private space this place has. Yes, it's a bit far from town (15 or 20 min bike ride) which can be challenging if its raining, but honestly its those cool experiences like riding our bikes home in the rain through the tropical rain forest that lead us to come back to Belize and not Cancun. The views and remoteness of this house set it apart from other personal rentals, and we have appreciated that the owners are very communicative and make sure that we know what to expect and who to contact if we need help. The caretaker Mac was awesome and had a lot of interesting stories. We will be back next year!

Indigo Pearl is certainly secluded as described. We chose this for exactly that reason. We enjoyed the covered 3rd floor porch with wonderful views of the Caribbean Sea and the lagoon right in front of the house. We could watch the fish and the crocodiles from our vantage point. We observed many different birds and identified them with the help of the book there, "Birds of Belize." That was delightful as we have not been "birders." We had no issues with the solar powered electricity. Linda was remarkably helpful with all her emails and advice prior to our arrival. That helped us feel comfortable from the beginning. If we get back to Caye Caulker, we would certainly consider staying here again.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our time at Indigo Pearl

The place was just as described. It met our needs perfectly. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. I even enjoyed using the cookbooks provided. We had no issues being off the grid. We are conservers by nature, but always had lights, hot showers, etc. Mack and Rebecca were there to get us started and although we didn’t need attention from them, we knew they were at the ready should a need arise. The bikes provided were invaluable. We so enjoyed our rides in and out of town. What a perfect way to travel. Views are great also. Sand fleas did eat us even though we tried the mentioned remedies but that’s just Mother Nature. If you like being off the beaten path and a little “roughing it” this is the place for you.

Isolated Island Jungle Bliss

This place was perfect for the two of us. We wanted something simple and off the beaten path where we could chill and slow down: we got exactly that. Linda was very upfront about that and helpful in providing us with useful tidbits about getting what you need on the Island. Highlights: - slow gorgeous bike rides to and from town - grilling lobster we bought directly from fisherman near Fisherman's Coop Lowlights: - sand flies and mosquitoes - couldn't swim in the the bay in front of the house; super mucky and shallow

Private and comfortable with spectacular views!

We so enjoyed our stay at The Indigo Pearl. We loved Caye Caulker, we loved the bikes being our mode of transportation, we loved the grill, and we loved playing Yahtzee by candlelight. This property was clean and perfect for our home-base. We lost electricity quite a bit, but that’s where the candles came in! Mack, the caretaker, was available and beyond helpful. I misbooked our dates and Joe and Linda graciously offered to extend our stay...a pretty sweet touch especially when traveling in a foreign country. We truly loved it all!

Indigo Pearl -- EXACTLY what we were looking for!

We have been back to the states (MA) for only a few days, and are already talking about our next trip to Belize, and specifically Caye Caulker. Our experience was fantastic, and all of the information provided by Linda before our trip (in addition to answering all of my questions) was invaluable as we both planned our visit, and lived each moment on the island to its fullest! My initial conversation with Joe was interesting, and useful -- as he had to "size us up" to determine if we could handle this unique vacation home. If you are looking for an adventure -- are in reasonably good health (can walk or bike), you will love your stay at Indigo Pearl. We had not ridden bikes for 20+ years, but had no problem riding into town 2-3 times every day. The house was perfect for our needs -- lots of hot water, functional kitchen, great views, clean and comfortable. We loved the seclusion, and didn't even notice we were "off-the-grid" (although we were aware enough to conserve both water and power). The Indigo Pearl gave us the perfect home base to enjoy Caye Caulker. We felt like "locals" from our first night there, enjoying dinner at Fran's (unlimited coconut rum punch doesn't hurt either!). In general, the food was great -- from street vendors (you must find the "cake lady" across the basketball court) to the many restaurants in town. If you want to do your own cooking, we loved buying food at Chicken Depot (although they were often out of shrimp) and several other stores in town. The rum and hot sauce was plentiful and GREAT! Perhaps the biggest surprise for us though -- was the quality of the snorkeling. Caveman Snorkeling might be the best "tour" on the planet -- and we have been on snorkeling tours in Australia (Great Barrier Reef), Hawaii, Caribbean, and Florida, but nothing beat what we experienced with Caveman Snorkeling. The barrier reef (evidently second largest) was vibrant, and alive (parts of Australia's barrier reef is dying), and much to my surprise, really easy to get to from Caye Caulker. We swam with sharks, rays, turtles, and lots of reef fish, and could not have been happier with the day we had (and it was supposedly a "rough" day out with more wind than normal). If we were in town for more than a week, we would have probably gone out another day or two! The bottom line is that we loved our time on Caye Caulker and at the Indigo Pearl, and look forward to our next trip back! It was quite the perfect adventure for us!

Amazing Stay in Caye Caulker!

I loved Caye Caulker SO much! Linda and Joe's place was wonderful and exactly what I needed! I work so much and I truly needed solitude and privacy in a tropical paradise, and as someone who usually stays at resorts when going on vacation, this was a MUCH needed escape that I truly thought was perfect and relaxing. I also want to state I had never been to Belize before. Prior to my trip Linda emailed me with so much great information that when I got to the island I felt like I was already a native and had been living there! It was so easy to get to the island via water taxi, and the island itself being so small was super easy to navigate-the bikes were fantastic! The baskets were perfect for toting whatever I needed to bring to the Split for the day, or for carrying groceries back to the house. At night I would call a golf cart taxi with the cell phone Linda & Joe provided me to pick me up for dinner, which was super convenient. Linda and Joe's home has everything you could possibly need- full kitchen and fridge/freezer(packed with ice!), mosquito coils, a beautiful wraparound porch(with a hammock!), and the best views HANDS DOWN on the island! Sunset was my favorite time of day, sipping a cocktail and enjoying the beautiful view on the porch. I ate most of my meals in town, so I didn't cook too much, but everything needed to do your own cooking is available to you. It is off-the-grid living, something I am used to having traveled to Africa (which was way more off-the grid than this) so it didn't bother me at all. I did keep 2 pitchers of water in the fridge at all times because it does get HOT! If you do a snorkeling trip I HIGHLY recommend Caveman tours- he does not seek you out/pester you for your business and he has a small shack right on the ocean and you must find him. Him and his crew are excellent! They kept the groups small so we could all see as much as possible and they were super informative about the marine life and the reef. The food on the island was fantastic! I tried as many places as I could-from Belizean food to Italian food (Il Pelicano was a real treat!) they were all great. You couldn't go wrong, and the food is cheap enough to eat all your meals in town without having to cook. Again, I couldn't thank Linda and Joe enough for their hospitality, their excellent info prior to my trip and their amazing home. I will definitely be back to Caye Caulker in the future, you better BELIZE it! Peace & Love <3 :)

Absolute Perfection!!

I'm not sure how exactly it was that I came across The Indigo Pearl, but I thank my lucky stars that I did. Joe and Linda were so communicative and welcoming. I spoke with Joe on the phone before the booking was confirmed, and I joked with him about trying to scare me off! The house is very much "off the beaten path", and there's almost nothing around, except for some cool wildlife. It was exactly what we were looking for and it was wonderful. I enjoyed walking and biking into town, and then being able to see a million stars at night. My only complaint about our stay on the island were the sand flies, so definitely pack your Deet. We loved being able to cook and relax. The neighbors were super friendly (Larry even gave us a ride one evening!). Linda sent us many emails in advance of our trip, with recommendations for restaurants, tours, and other things to do in town. We had a lovely snorkeling trip with Carlos Tours, and enjoyed the Sports Bar several of the days we were there. The locals are the friendliest ever (hard not to be in such a beautiful place!). The house was absolutely perfect for us - comfortable bed, awesome shower, and the location could not have been better. Thank you so much, Joe and Linda, for opening up your home to us - we thoroughly enjoyed our time on Caye Caulker, and would have enjoyed it less without your hospitality. I'm already looking at dates for my return trip!!

Magical remote island getaway

This place is fantastic, and the owners represent it very honestly. If you like what you read, you'll love it here. We are on our honeymoon, and wanted a private, affordable spot, and after finding this place and looking into Caye Caulker, we decided to spend ten days here. My only regret is that we didn't give ourselves more time here. The house site is ideal, with incredible views, privacy, and a lovely veranda so you can be comfortable outside, no matter the weather. The home is well laid out and nicely stocked with everything you'd need in the kitchen, bathroom, and living area. The owners communicate clearly and often, so its easy to prepare yourself for your stay. The caretakers are nearby and very friendly and accommodating, although all we've needed is a quick adjustment on the height of the bike seat. The bikes are great old cruisers with beer crates attached so you can bring anything you need with you. We felt like locals from day one with this set up. A word on the rural island lifestyle: The path you ride is potholed, can be muddy, and you'll see iguanas, crabs, birds, we even saw a snake! There are bugs that bite and itch. The neighbors have dogs, they're not too close, but you'll hear them bark. You'll hear small planes take off and land in the daytime, and along with the sound of birds and fish in the water, you'll hear motorboats. Even so, the nights are quiet and its incredibly tranquil...and we live on 200 acres at home, so our criteria for peace and quiet is very high. The power system works great, we can charge our smartphone and there's an outdoor light on all night so you can find your way. We have off grid experience, so we know how to be thrifty with our power use. The water has good pressure, shower is hot! You'll hear the water pump when you use the water, which helps us remember to conserve. If you can't handle nature, like mud, bugs, and reptiles, and value convenience over privacy, this is not your place. If you're looking for an authentic, peaceful experience, this place is perfect!

Nice place to stay and relaxing

We stayed at The Indigo Pearl in November and found it to be as described. Since we didn’t want the whole noise scene in town we opted for this house on the more residential south end. It came with 2 fat tire bikes to use, which we did every day. I hoped to see more birds, but didn’t see a whole lot in the way of wildlife. Showers were warm, place was clean, simple and fit our needs. Loved the balcony and the views. My wife and I ate several meals at the house, and found what we needed to do so. Eating in town was reasonable too. The tour we took with Carlos was excellent and I highly recommend his services. Overall we had a great time.

Find Your Rhythm to Relaxation at the Indigo Pearl on Caye Caulker!

What's the formula for two stressed-out working parents to achieve relaxation and celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary? We feel it's the Indigo Pearl + good coffee, ocean views, biking into town, swimming at the Split, hanging out in hammocks by the sea, shopping for dinner and eating your meal as the sun sets over the mangroves. All this is possible on Caye Caulker if you choose the Indigo Pearl! We spent 8 days and found that coffee on the balcony watching the ibis, mockingbirds, pelicans and cormorants was a perfect way to start our day. Breakfast is easy here if you've shopped the afternoon before - don't forget to prep the pineapple for breakfast and put the leftovers in the freezer for afternoon pina coladas! Drop a few tidbits to Jose the iguana who hangs out in the tree top and watch him and his friends below. Lounge around reading your book, posting photos on social media, or kayaking on the lagoon in front of the house. Midday means packing your swimming gear for the beach! Don't forget the sunscreen and bug spray. Head into town and take the beach road up. Find your spot at the Split beach and enjoy watching the frigatebirds overhead. Grab a Belikin or two and hang out on the pier - or better yet, grab a bucket at the Lazy Lizard and watch the islanders and tourists mingle as they dive in the turquoise water or show some skin on the deck. It's quite a show and it's free! When you get hungry ride down to Errolyn's Fry Jack shack or Meldy's and grab a burrito to go. Take it over to the beach and find a bench for your picnic. Hop back in the water, or my favorite - the hammock - and let the waves and wind lull you to sleep. When you wake up or are done swimming it's time to grab some groceries and head back for Happy Hour at the Indigo Pearl! Don't forget the coconut rum and coconut milk: key ingredients in keeping you 'Happy!' Oh, and ask the staff at Las Almendros to make you some fresh flour tortillas - they're down near the airstrip on Back Street. There's a grill to cook up fresh seafood or other meat. Full stove and lots of pots and pans for other cooking needs. The water pitcher you prepped in the morning will quench your thirst, or use the frosty mugs for double chill effects. The sun puts on a great show each night and the early sunset means lots of time to read or take advantage of the long night to reconnect with your loved one! We had a fantastic time and look forward to the chance to return and TRULY relax.

Wonderful Vacation

We had talked about going to "Belize" for a long time. Not exactly sure what we wanted to do there. So I did some research and learned about the Indigo Pearl. It sounded like it was right up our alley so we reserved it. Linda's emails were very helpful and she answered my off the wall questions quickly and told exactly what I needed to know. I think our experience was a bit different. Not bad different. Just not your typical visit. We were picked up at the water taxi by our taxi driver, Sullivan. It was getting late when we arrived so we made a quick trip to the grocery. Got a few things to get us started. We got a "take out" bbq chicken dinner at a place Sullivan suggested. Then off to the Pearl. Arrived at the house and Sadie greeted us and showed us our little piece of heaven. We new we needed to be careful with water and electricity use and that was no problem. Actually we had only 2 issues. One was the french press coffee maker. Its plunger was broken so we figured out a way to use it. Our other issue was the bikes. The seats were too high for both of us and they were hard too pedal. So we called Sullivan whenever we needed a ride. The first full day there was Mother's Day and he had come out to pick us up and then his family and we took a ride. His son is Junior and almost 6. His daughter is Yareni and is 5 months old. A really beautiful family and very welcoming to us. We set up a fishing time with a friend of Sullivan's for Wednesday. The guide has pet tarpon so we feed them while we were there. I'm not crazy about fishing but love the boat ride. Sullivan was a lifeline for us. He showed us places we would never have found on our own. We ended up having dinner with him and his family 2 evenings. He grilled the mackerel I caught (yes me).We had rice and coleslaw. It was all delicious. Our last evening we ate with them again. This time shrimp kabobs, homemade beans and coleslaw. Again delicious. His wife taught me how she did rice, beans and coleslaw. I've never seen such poverty as the natives on the island but there is no poverty of spirit. So we didn't snorkel or swim but still had a fabulous time. Our favorite times were in the morning on the porch. It was always cool and always something new to see. Then at night again on the porch. It felt heavenly to feel the breeze on my face. Walt is a real birder so he had a ball photographing and identifying so many new birds. We had a storm one night. It was great. Our time at the Pearl was the best

Rest Here!

Our stay here was perfect. It really is secluded, off-grid, and incredibly private. Perfect for the R&R we were looking for. The house was clean, and well kept. If we are ever back in Belize, we will be back to this house!

Living off the GRID in Paradise!

If you are looking for a place to stay that is completely off the GRID Indigo Pearl Guesthouse is the place to stay. Prior to accepting our deposit the owners insisted on speaking with us first because they wanted us to completely understand what they meant by being off the GRID meant. The electricity is supplied by wind and solar, the water is supplied from rain collected during the rainy season and our refrigerator was powered by propane. Water conservation is a must so flushing the toilet after each liquid deposit should be kept to a minimum. Insect control was provided by two very loud geckos (they sounded off once in the very early morning hours and sound like a bark and screeching bird). Our lodging was clean and everything we needed for the kitchen was provided. We had towels for the bath and the beach. If you want to live "primitively" you can do your laundry in the bucket provided outside the door and hang them up to dry on your porch. The clothes will dry in about 4 hours. Beach bikes were provided as well as headlamps to wear after dark. The bike path to town can be daunting the first few times but well worth the ride. The house is at the tip of the island where you will find yourself surrounded by beauty. With internet access we could stay in contact with family and friends and never had connection issues. The property is well maintained and clean. We saw a couple of minor issues that we reported to the caretaker and have complete confidence they will be cared for. We were met by our taxi driver Sullivan at the water taxi dock who took us for a quick tour of the island high points and stopped at the grocery so we could purchase some items before going to the house. He also graciously agreed to take us back into the village so that we could have dinner. After dinner we walked over to the firehouse where he was working and headed back to the our home away from home for the next week. For breakfast we tried Glenda´s for her cinnamon buns WOW!, Elena's for fryjack, Paradiso for breakfast sandwich and fruit all very good. We ate at Terry's, Marins, Barrier Reef and Syd's. We had a couple of nights at home for dinner where we bought from the bakery and grocery. We chose to take only one trip away from the island by using Ragamuffin Tours which we thoroughly enjoyed and recommend highly. Captain's Shane and Vito are outstanding guides with wonderful personalities. Our expectations were met and loved every minute of our stay.

Winter vacation

We have been home for a week after staying at the Indigo Pearl and wish we were back. The place is everything you see here and more. It's definitely for the adventurous. We loved our stay here and the sunset everyday is simply amazing! Although the dock looks rickety it works great for fishing, kayaking off or just sitting and enjoying the view. We would come back here and stay any time. As for the island the food is fantastic! If your looking for an island experience for food you must try Fran's which are the picnic tables on the side of the street with the grill, may look shadey but its really good food She's opens at 6pm and the food is fabulous. If your looking for fancy Habeneros is absolutely hands down the place to go. Pizza Caulker has the best pizza. As for the tours those are all great just talk to people but definetly go on a snorkel tour to the reef it is amazing and worth going if you snorkel. We truely had a great time on Caye Caulker and will be coming back again. We will for sure stay here again, we loved the bikes and by the way Linda everyone on the island loved my Belikin basket, what a great idea! Thanks for sharing your little slice of paradise with us!!

Great stay

The house was a little far from town, but that suited our group just fine. We loved being tucked away far from the (albeit comparatively quiet) din of the downtown area which is mostly crawling with tourists and backpackers. It's close enough that making a few trips in for shopping, snorkeling, eating, and sampling the nightlife was easy but far enough to feel secluded. Cozy quarters, close access to the water via several different piers, a hammock perfect for tucking into a good read. We didn't use the kayak much but it was nice to know it was there. It's very easy to launch it from the house's pier. Having bikes on site included in the rental fee was a lifesaver. I believe it is 60 Belize dollars/wk to rent in town. The baskets on the bikes were quite handy for transporting groceries and booze. Sadie and Brandon were very nice and helpful. We even met the off season keeper, Eddy, who was very friendly. Overall, great stay! Highly recommend for those looking to stay somewhere slightly off the beaten path.

a private piece of the caribbean!!

a friend and i stayed at the indigo pearl in nov, a lovely home on the south tip of caye caulker. the "town" caye caulker is never a place one needs to "escape" from ... but delightful none the less to have a place to call home and go home to! Having sadie and brandon available for all info and advice is a tad like having 5 star concierge assistance without the formality .... we loved it .. the advice from the owners on restaurants and great nooks and crooks on the island were utterly perfect for our tastes.. food . drinks. and entertainment on the island was inexpensive and delicious, and the expeditions to and in the sea surrounding were great .... the blue crabs at night are astonishing in colour and entertaining in nature!

Perfectly private

My husband and I recently celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary on Caye Caulker and had the pleasure of staying at the Indigo Pearl. Right from the start the owners were very involved in our trip and went out of their way to ensure that we had plenty of information about their home and the Caye Caulker community. The Indigo Pearl was exactly what we anticipated, a simple off grid house, nestled at the end of a long private sandy path. The home was easy walking and biking distance from town, but secluded enough that we rarely saw or heard any of the neighbors. We loved living off-grid, removed from all of the electronic distractions that clutter our lives back home. We spent most of our days sitting on the ample porch, bird watching, reading and relaxing.... Our days seemed to last at least twice as long as they do in the States. Exactly what we love about vacationing in Belize.

Heavenly views

My wife and I shared 8 nights with a couple of house geckos and warm ocean beezes. Eddy the maintenance guy was far more than that. He was a source for fishing, dining, boating, tarpon feeding, taxi's, etc. We loved the remoteness of the property with the ability to be on main street in 15 minutes. Evening walks as the sun set were very romantic. Mornings I spent kayaking in our private cove, fishing my way around and catch many small barracuda. I also would snorkle there as I waited for the freshening breezes to awaken my wife. They trip was not perfect however, it should have been longer....

We hated to leave and are ready to return....

We spent a week at the Indigo Pearl and were not disappointed in the least. We wanted something out of the way and quiet, with enough room to relax and not feel cramped. The house fit our needs perfectly and had everything that we needed. We were able to use the bikes to tour the island and take trips into town each day, although the crabs creeped me out the first time we rode back in the dark. We used the dock and the bay everyday, either fishing, kayaking or snorkeling. We were also able to stay connected to our family via the internet, without technology being intrusive. We made Pina Coladas almost every day. They were so refreshing after a hot day in the water. The view from the porch of the house is so incredible and worth the trip all by itself. I took many beautiful pictures of the sun sets and rises. Eddy, the caretaker and Chano picked us up at the airport and took us to the Chinatown Market to purchase a few things before taking us to the house. They could not have been nicer or more helpful with our few requests. We really liked them, as well as every other local on the island. The people are just so warm and friendly. We took a sailing/snorkeling trip with Raggamuffin tours, with Jacob and Rob as our guides. It was a fantastic day and they were both a lot of fun and full of information about the area. We highly recommend them. We also took a river cruise to the Lamanai Mayan site on the mainland with Tsunami Tours that was fun. We have been to other Mayan sites in the past, so we liked the river cruise part a little more. The day was fun though, although very hot. One day we went to Ambergris Caye on the little plane and while we are glad we went so we know what is there, we were so very happy to get back to the peaceful, wonderful quiet of the yellow house. We are happy we decided to stay on Caye Caulker, as that is a lot more our speed. We did a lot of snorkeling and we ate at some wonderful restaurants on the island. Wish Willy's and Rose's will cook your catch for you and then charge you only for the sides. They both do a wonderful job. Amor y Cafe has a great breakfast, but they close around noon. Sandros is a fantastic Italian restaurant on the island. The owner is from Milan, so it is authentic Italian. You will not go hungry on Caye Caulker. We are so happy we found the Indigo Pearl and would love to visit over and over again. It was hard to leave. Thank you for sharing your piece of Paradise with us. We are ready to go back!
