We found this property to fit our needs perfectly. Close proximity to Urbana, Irvington and Kilmarnock. The older home, on the Rappahannock River had been refurbished for today’s needs but retained some fun, and not so fun quirks! Nothing too serious… the water stream in the shower returned after the system built pressure back up.. Would return.
We were absolutely delighted that the cottage is as represented by the owner and other reviews. You never know until you arrive, what to expect. This is our idea of a cottage! Laying in bed looking out at the view from the upstairs suite is unbeatable. Very quiet, nice neighborhood on deadend street. The river facing side of the cottage is all windows! High bank waterfront makes a gorgeous view. Stairs down to the dock if you want to fish or put over a crabpot.
Two downstairs bedrooms have only double beds so tight for 2 people in one room. Two bathrooms is great. Loved having laundry!
Note: there were no extra garbage bags, soap or anything to wash dishes. We brought our own dish soap and bags , laundry soap, bathroom soap.. not a big deal but helpful to know in advance. The floor isnt level and made us laugh at how wavy it is. We had to provide our own battery when the smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night. Wish there was a vacuum as we had to walk through dirt to get to the door as the pathway to the door isnt finished. Cleaning prior to our arrival could have been more thorough.
Some good restaurants nearby as well as grocery.
We hated to leave and look forward to our return! Thank you for a wonderful and restful time!
This home is beautifully renovated and decorated. It was immaculate. The sunsets off the back deck were so very beautiful as was watching the full moon rise. We enthusiastically recommend this home.
