Another great stay at this Leadville cabin

We have rented this cabin multiple times before and love it every time. This visit was a guy's fishing weekend and it was perfect as usual. Good relaxation in the cabin and good fishing on property as expected.

Great property with amazing and peaceful views! The gazebo overlooking the river was beautiful and relaxing! We wish we knew how to fish so that we could’ve taken advantage of the river being so close. Very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. All kitchen utensils plus extras were provided for cooking meals. We loved our stay and the owner was available if we needed anything. We hated to have to leave!

Lovely property

The cabin was very clean and well appointed. It has its own water access for fishing. The bed was very comfortable. It was quiet and peaceful. The only con is that the house and all its windows and outdoor deck face the owner’s house (which is 100 yards away) so it feels like there is no privacy. Also you have to meet the owner to check in which means you need to give him a time for arrival.

Quite a find!

If you are a fly fisherman, this place is fantastic! Lots of private water, and many fish. Also, the cabin is lovely, setting is spectacular, Howard very nice and easy to deal with, and they have a great dog, Rosie.

Perfect property and rustic cabin with private trout fishing

Every detail is thought of in a beautiful rustic log home. The huge private property is wonderful for relaxing, walking and fishing. You would pay more than this price just to fish for a day on a private stretch of the arkansas river and you wouldnt get a cabin to go with it so this is an amazing deal. Highly recommended

Nice

This a very nice guest house adjacent to the owners residence. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cookwear. Bed was very comfortable and bath was very nice with premium towels. The stairs/walkway up to the entrance door might be challenging for the mobility impaired. Having the Arkansas running thru the property is very nice if you fish, bring your waders though.

The perfect guesthouse!

This was our second stay at Howard’s guesthouse and we will be back! The location and the view of the mountains and river running through the property are unsurpassed. We even hiked just outside our door on a multi-use trail. This guesthouse is immaculate and provides everything we needed. The amenities listed in the description are on point. We especially enjoyed the pool table each evening after a day of hiking. Howard’s house is nearby if you need anything, but we had complete privacy. This is a fabulous Colorado stay!

Slice of Heaven

Nothing compares to privacy, beautiful scenery, cool days/nights and peace than at this rental. Howard, the owner, was friendly and so accommodating. The guesthouse was wonderfully appointed and the hummingbirds were bountiful. Early in the morning, the swallows entertained us with their aerial shows. The outside fireplace was wonderful in the cool evenings and the gazebo by the rivers was a favorite place to read/think/enjoy nature. What a treat! Definitely a place to return.

Beautiful property, lovely owners and perfect getaway

We recently stayed at the Holt's guesthouse and within minutes of arriving, we knew that we had arrived somewhere special. The property is absolutely beautiful - from the gazebo right by the water to the swings on the driveway and the guesthouse itself. The detail and thought put into this guesthouse are amazing. The beds were comfortable, the linens were high-quality, the decorations are the perfect mountain theme - even the lamps on the nightstands have little fireplaces that glow! Leadville is a delightful little Colorado town and it was the perfect blend of spending time surrounded by incredible views, fishing, hiking and more, and venturing into town occasionally for a good pizza. Howard was a gracious host and helpful with any advice or request that we could have possibly had, and Rosie (his dog) is just about as cute as can be. We hope to make this an annual visit!

Wonderful property, great hosts

We were planning on a nice early fall getaway but we got the first snowfall of the season instead. The property is beautiful no matter the season. It’s very secluded but only about 5 miles to town. Super easy to get to. It’s very clean and exactly as advertised. There was a small issue with the heat not working properly but Howard was very responsive and apologetic. Since he wasn’t able to get someone out to fix it right away he refunded a good portion of our money. It wasn’t necessary but greatly appreciated. We were able to stay warm enough with the blankets that were provided. We had a very lovely stay regardless and would definitely recommend.

Wonderful host and beautiful property

Beautiful, clean property in the mountains, great scenery, cute doggo. Smooth check in and check out process. Would definitely recommend for parties no larger than 4 One and only caveat to our stay is that we payed an extra $150 for two extra adult guests for a night, for a total of 6. While we were warned this would be tight and this was okay with us, the second pull out couch was not usable. Laying on it resulted in great discomfort due to the angle of the couch and per those that tried to use it, they were not able to get any sleep at all(may be broken). Would recommend the host have this checked out to ensure guests comfort going forward if there is a charge for sleeping on this pull out couch. Overall a great rental aside from this one issue! Thanks Howard!

Far surpassed our expectations!

This perfect Colorado guesthouse far surpassed our expectations! It is the perfect mountain getaway for a couple. Situated near Turquoise Lake, it is just 10 minutes to town (Leadville) or hiking in the mountains. The drive up the private paved road builds anticipation as you drive alongside the trout-filled Arkansas River, and pass the lovely gazebo at the bend before your first view of this stunning home. Sitting atop a 3 car garage, this impressive guesthouse, with wood throughout and windows spanning the entire front gives you a peaceful view of mountains and rivers. Rarely have we stayed in a home with such neatly organized and complete amenities. Anything you can think of is there-a very comfortable bed, Colorado decor, natural wood furniture, washer/dryer, ALL kitchen items, great tv-even a pool table! The owners, Howard and Maureen, are the consummate hosts, there whenever we needed something, but never hovering. One day they caught a bunch of trout at the lake, cooked them, and shared some with us for dinner! What a treat! I just can’t say enough about how much we love this place! In fact, we have already requested a booking for next Summer!

The Holt Guest House: beautiful and well-maintained...great views and proximity to hiking trails!

We really enjoyed staying at the Holt Guest House for the second time, and we will be back. The cabin itself is large, comfortable, clean, well-maintained, and well-stocked. We just bring our food, clothes, and hiking gear. Howard and Maureen Holt are wonderful hosts and very helpful (and we love their Frisbee dog, Rosie)! The property is right on a beautiful river great for fishing, and it has lovely views of the river and the mountains. It has a great deck with an outdoor fireplace and grill. It is also close to all kinds of outdoor activities on Turquoise Lake, which is huge and stunning with trails, camping, and a boat ramp. It is outside of Leadville which is a great little town in which to shop, eat, or hang out. Our favorite activity is hiking and the cabin is close to many of our favorite trailheads, including the trailheads to hike Mount Massive and Mount Elbert (Colorado's highest peak). The summer wildflowers and views from the summits are amazing. We love the Fancy Lake/Missouri Lakes loop trail and the trail to Notch Mountain with a view of Mount of the Holy Cross for their solitude and beauty. After a long day of hiking, it's great to soak in the huge tub, play pool on the pool table, or just veg out. The kitchen is fully stocked and big, and the laundry room is great for washing up. I have recommended this property to everyone I know who loves Colorado hiking, fishing, biking, etc... and who wants a comfortable place to relax after all the outdoor fun!
