Fantastic cayman escape

This is our second time staying here and won’t be the last. The location can’t be beat and the property is fantastic. Great views of the ocean with a relatively private beach to watch sunset over. The condo was well stocked and had everything you need! Thanks again!!

Not a disaster

I’ve heard of VRBO disasters and this was not that. The low rating is mostly for poor communication and information upon arrival and check-in. Mainly entering the apartment and accessing the internet. Full story below:We arrived at 4pm. The instructions were that the property would be unlocked and the key would be inside. It was not.Multiple calls were made after I established an international calling plan and I was finally able to get a hold of the property manager’s brother who was able to find help, and provide the code to access the keys.Once inside, it appeared as if they didn’t realize we were coming: all of the paper towels, toilet paper bath towels were stored away and no soap shampoo etc was left out for use, or available in the condo. It was clean aside from where a few chewed and stuck gum areas had been left behind by prior tenants that was not removed. The last complaint is the internet information was inaccurate. When I called, texted and emailed I received zero reply. With some trouble shooting and process of elimination, we were able to chose the correct network and decipher the password. The apartment is very close to the pictures, the A/C worked great, and aside from the soap, shampoo, and conditioner, the place is well stocked and in a good area.We will return to Grand Cayman, but will not rebook this unit.

Great location!

Island Pines is centrally located on 7 mile beach. You can walk to many excellent restaurants, shops, and catch the public bus on the main street. The RPBC is Royal Palm Beach Club is located next door for an excellent spot to hang out for drinks, music, and enjoy the sunset!! Staying at the Island Pines will grant you free access to the beach chairs, but umbrellas will cost extra. The condo itself is well equipped with all the necessities needed except for shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste, which is expected.

Great location but for the techno music next door all day long and until late at night.

This location is wonderful but for the Palms Club next door playing endless techno and bus loads of cruisers on a daily basis. A beautiful condo once upon a time. Time to be freshened up

July 2018 Stay

Our family loved staying here! The location is perfect. There are plenty of stores/restaurants right across the road or within a short walking distance. Eventhough the complex is next to Royal Palms beach club we were never disturbed by music or loud people and it can get quite busy on Sunday and cruise ship days! Our family was often gone during the middle part of the day exploring other parts of the island but at night Royal Palms did not bother us at all. We would most definitely stay here again and hope to do so in the future!

great location for the price

This is a really nice place with a great location. The condo had all the amenities and is nicely updated. It doesn't have a dishwasher, FYI. Nice view of pool and ocean there are only 3 units that have that view. The regal beach club next door is an interesting thing - that place gets going around 8am and most leave by 2:30 - the music can get loud during the day, and with 5 boats the place is a bit crowded and overbearing. You can use the chairs and umbrellas. Overall good find, and very responsive management (we were locked out once).

Great stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at this property! The location is great for walking to restaurants, the grocery store and shops. We didn't have a car during our stay and didn't feel like we needed one. We cooked most of our meals at the place and everything we needed was there. The place is next door to a beach club, but the music never bothered us. It was actually quite nice to sit on the deck and listen to the music and once we were inside with the door closed, we couldn't hear the music. There were always plenty of beach and pool chairs available even when the cruise ships were in (the beach chairs are shared with the beach club and they get cruise ship guests dropped off there occasionally). So even though we rented a condo, we still had beach service available for food and drinks. Cayman Villas was a great place to rent from. Their service was great! We had one issue when we arrived and our manager Dale fixed it immediately. The only thing I would like to see different in the place is the master bed mattress. It's really hard and you can feel the springs on one side of it and we're not large people. Other than that, our stay was perfect and we would definitely stay again!

Mixed Emotions

There are pros and cons to each place. I will cut to the chase and jump right in about this spot. Pros: Management on point and responds quickly to whatever request or question; Best location in that it is near everything; Right across from the beach; The grounds were well kept, well stocked with cooking items and towels; cons: Really needs updating this would include the following: Cosmetically, all furniture needs to be replace; kitchen and bathroom hardware needs to be replaced right away; air duct desperately needs to be cleaned as you could smell dampness and stale sea air each time the ac came on. They did change one of the filters which helped a bit but I came home with awful allergies. This is a pro or con right next to a bar/restaurant that is on the beach that has live music. None of these were deal breakers just concerns. I would stay there again despite the dated furniture but would not unless they cleaned the air ducts.

Delightful Front Porch Views + Chef's Kitchen

We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and quality of finishes for this condo. The renovated kitchen had truly excellent appliances and supplies. The kitchen is always a priority for us, as we prefer to cook our meals and save the budget for activities! The loft contained a full size washer and dryer! There was plenty of storage and a surprising amount of starter supplies. The property manager, Dale, kindly welcomed me and gave me a quick tour of some of the high end kitchen features. They've even included a cell phone for local calls. Usually we find surprises that are disappointing -- not here! It was an intentional priority to select a pool/beach facing upstairs condo for this stay -- and the views from this porch were absolutely refreshing! Having Royal Palm next door was fun and despite some rather hearty celebration nights, the condo is insulated and constructed in a way that closed out the neighboring sounds. We were never disturbed. Our only suggestion for improvement is the age/quality of the mattresses. They are out of step with the rest of the quality of this wonderful condo. Pickup and drop off of keys at the Avis rent car location was quick and easy. Very nicely handled!

Good location on 7MB

Overall our stay at this unit was fine. Housecleaning could use a little attention as there was still coffee in the coffee pot and water in the kettle. No starter of hand soap, dish soap or sponge/dish cloth for dishes. We were not able to place local phone calls/texts from our cell phones- despite a global plan upgrade. I had emailed the management company, but never rec’d a response back. Not a big deal- did not have any issues, but be mindful of this and may want to plan to use What’s app. Great location as within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. We stayed here 7 yrs ago, and unfortunately the beach is now very different ☹️. The former beach club next door is condemned and an eye sore for the property. There are no chairs on the beach, nor is the beach area maintained… the same debris on the beach each day. I really found this to be unacceptable when all of the neighboring condos provide chairs and had well manicured beaches. Without any oversight of this beach area- we saw many individuals who were not guests parking in the open lot and making camp during the day/evening. We enjoyed the pool. Was clean and always quiet. With the beach situation, the owner really should provide 2-3 beach chairs for guest use. There was 1 jr sized camping chair in the unit- which is of little use for the beach. All in all, we had a lovely stay. Not sure if we will stay at this property again until the beach environment improves.

Island Pines Villa 39 Grand Caymen

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our Villa #39 was very nice. It was a beautiful view of the pool, beach and ocean! Everything was very clean and well taken care of. There were new towels, appliances, pots and pans and utensils. They did forget to stock dish rags to wash dishes and we had to ask for a hair dryer, but Geoff, the property manager bought me a new one right away. Our refrigerator went out and they also replaced it the same day. Geoff was also on top of that and made sure it was done quickly as we had food to keep cold! He was very nice and got things done very quickly and professionally! The pool was very nice, not crowded at all. We had to take lounge chairs from the pool to the beach as there weren't any on the beach, but that was easy to do. The beach was the best one around us as far as size. Others around us were very small. Walking to the right around two walls will get you to the larger part of 7 mile beach and we had some great walks there. The beach could have used some raking though - we never saw anyone taking care of the beach. The grounds weren't kept up as well as some of the other villas either. But the location was great - we did not need to rent a car. We could walk to restaurants and the grocery store. Buses and taxis were available on the main road also. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Villa 39! Our best outing was Captain Marvin's Stingray, Starfish, Snorkel tour! They pick up at the villa. We really enjoyed our stay!

March 2020 Stay

Island Pines #39 has a gorgeous view looking out over the ocean, easy walk to Camana Bay shops and Fosters for groceries, and steps to the private pool and beach. A little too close to Royal Palms so sitting on the balcony is noisy with music and crowds at the bar - but the condo itself is very quiet so sleeping wasn’t an issue. The beds and pillows need an upgrade - otherwise it was a beautiful villa with its own laundry and well appointed kitchen.

The unit itself and the property were very nice. A few points to consider. 1 - the beach chairs shown in the VRBO listings are NOT the property of Island Pines. They are owned by the neighboring Royal Palms Beach Club (RPBC), and are supposed to be rented from them, and used by their customers. 2 - if you rent a car, you're supposed to park in the RPBC's lot. Spots are reserved for Island Pines, but nobody seems to pay attention to that and the lot was often full. We had to park across the street in the mall lot. 3 - being right next to the RPBC is not for everyone. It's a busy beach club, with a party atmosphere that starts before noon and goes into the late hours. If that's your scene, fabulous. But if you want a quieter location, especially in the evenings, then look elsewhere.

Condo was amazing. Housekeeping did great job, drop off and pick up key Avis car rental ready access. Never heard Royal Palm events. Well maintained property grounds. My only issue was the picture of beach seating is deceiving those chairs are Royal Palm which you can rent for a fee, other than that will be back

Challenging

Condo was OK but had a strong musty odor that wouldn’t go away. The rep came by the Our Rep showed up the next morning. I told him I didn’t want a bunch of activity and didn’t want to be put out on my anniversary vacation. We should have been offered a 10 or 15% discount as a good gesture and were not.

Great location

This condo is set back slightly which offers a little more privacy but has a great view of the ocean and sunsets. The location is great for both beach access and walking to restaurants and shops. There is ok snorkeling directly in front of the condo. There is a Bar/Restaurant right next door that provides beach access for cruise ship visitors and the beach does get crowded on the busy cruise days when there are 4 or more ships docked but not nearly as busy as some of the high end resorts nearby. Only 2 days out of 9 had this type of activity. Someone had mentioned the bar music as an issue but we did not find it a problem. When sitting on the balcony it was like background music and they played a wide variety of of rock and modern pop. Once inside the unit you could not hear the music. The unit had a washer and dryer which came in handy but could have used a cordless vacuum like a Shark or similar to help clean up the fine sand that makes its way into the unit from the beach. The cleaning staff could do a better job of cleaning the unit between guests but it was not terrible. The couch and chair in the living room should be replaced with something better suited to the beach environment and the loft carpeting could also be replaced. Overall we would probably rent this unit again when we return. The last 3 items are why we only gave it a 4 star review instead of a 5 star.
